I'm just curious, that's all! I'm very into them, as well as the company I get to play with.

I'm not just on about the respectively old school ones, and not just about pure board games either. Yep I'm sure a number of us know games like Monopoly, Clue, Uno, Life, Trouble, and Scrabble.

I also like a lot of others, including the Euro games such as Caracassone (original and Hunters and Gatherers), Alhambra, Power Grid, and Ticket to Ride. Fun and quick games are always good too. Zombie Dice, Fandooble, and Tsuro are some of my favorite quick ones.

...Unless no one here has heard of those at all? I can sum up what a few of them are about later.

I've been in this one meetup group for over 3 years, maybe 4 years now. I met this guy at my bookshop one day, and he showed me his ideas in creating games--and they were clever and good ideas. He invited me over to his apartment for a board game get-together on a Friday night, and I took my mom with me. For one thing, she and I get along well. (Not many I know can admit that.) I also had to bring someone along just in case anything weird or bad might go down. I only knew him for just that one day, after all.

Mom and I both had a wonderful time and got introduced to Euro games that night, and it was like discovering a whole new realm of gaming. I swear, if we hadn't enjoyed the games and laughing out loud with Danny and the guys we made fast friends with, then I would've NEVER known so many other games existed! Also, if we hadn't decided to go, we never would have tried out so many other games.

Danny soon moved to Virginia after the first two meetups we went to, getting a new job over there and all, but once in a while he still comes down to join us for a meetup. Someone else took over for organizer, and we continued the meetups from there.

We've got quite a collection now, and bring a number of them with us when it's Game Night. XD Two new games we got are card games; one I bought known as Cthulhu Fluxx and the other we got as a giveaway called Gang of Four. Cthulhu Fluxx is crazy fun, a H.P. Lovecraft spin on the ever-changing classic where rules, goals, and who has what are always changing. As for the other, we've yet to try it out.

My cousins and I play Ticket to Ride all the time! It's so much fun!<3 I love Monopoly also, and we also play a game called Settlers of Catan. Super cool!
Don't worry, you're not the only one who likes good ole' fashioned board games ;3

Good to know. :D

Yep, Settlers is good too! The current meetup organizer has his own copy of it.. Which version of Ticket to Ride have you played? (Oh! If you like that one, you might like Trans-America.) So far I've only played with the American board. At the new place my group goes to, this new game store about 30 minutes away from my home, there is a shelf in which anyone can try out some games for free. So sometime soon, my group might try out the demo version of the Germany board!

I love playing board games. Great way to spend time with friends xD
One of my favourites are Talisman, Carcasone and Dracula. There's also a Polish board game based on post-apo roleplay system and it's called Neuroshima Hex. You can even play it online here - http://online.neuroshima.org/

I head Settlers of Catan is a great game too but I never had a a chance to paly it.

I'm actually not sure which version of Ticket to Ride I've played, I wasn't aware there were different versions haha. My cousin got his for Christmas, though, so I would assume it's a recent one. We have the one that goes all over the US. This one, I believe. It's so much fun<3 I love having to think about which moves I'm going to make. It just makes everything all the more fun!

I also forgot to mention that my best friend and I play Uno a lot. She introduced me to a came called Rummikub. That one's a fun game as well.

Absolutely a great way to spend with friends! Some of the guys I game with are hilarious too. It's all in good harmless fun picking on each other and spouting off our witty comebacks! There are also those funny circumstances that are uintentional during a game that happen, hehe.

Caracassone is great. I love both the original AND Hunters and Gatherers in which is the prehistoric version. Same basic rules but there's some other variables too. Got the original already, but the other is going on my Want List.

Dracula, Talisman, and Neruoshima Hex I haven't heard about--YET. I'll check out Hex online sometime. :D

You should try Settlers sometime. It's easy enough to learn and fairly easy to get into.

Moki: That's the Ticket to Ride I've played before, yep. It's very fun. If you love games that make you want to think ahead on deciding your moves, I recommend looking into Caracassone, Alahambra, Tsuro... and even ones that are for a smaller number of players; Power Grid and The aMAZEing Labyrinth (the board is always changing on each person's turn)!

Oh, and Hive! That's a two player one. It's a bit like chess, with the hexagonal bug tiles moving in a certain way. In that one you strategically surround your opponent's bee before he or she does. That game's a bit of a toughie for me. I think in order to play the online version against the computer, you have to register on the website.

Rummikub I believe is a game one of the guys in my meetup group has. Have yet to play it. It'd be a good change of pace since I'm usually good at either winning or not ending up in last place during the wacky Rummy card game known as Five Crowns. Just stating a fact, not bragging lol.

Haha it's fine. My bad if some my replies get lengthy. There are some games I get so dang fangirly over! XD

Monopoly I hadn't played in ages. My meetup group's more current organizer, AKA my hilarious friend Alan, has a few versions of it though, including Disney Villains. Maybe I'll bug him to bring it out sometime, so we can play it. :P I've seen different dog breed versions and a Beatles Monopoly too.

I've played this other game that reminds me of Monopoly a bit. Only once so far, but sometime my group might play it again--it is another old one called Acquire. Another game Alan has. It's more on stocks than hotels and the different properties on a Monopoly board.

Decided to revive this topic again for the sake of introducing a board game I just learned of, haha. My cousins invited me over to play it and it literally took 4 hours to finish! xDD It was extremely difficult to understand because the game itself is so complicated, but once I got it, it was a blast to play.

I believe it's called Arkham Horror.

Here's some info about it, and here's a few pictures of the board and items.

Though it's complicated, I really would recommend the game to anyone<3 it's super fun 8D
