I know, and have met, some people who hate or dislike Boris.
What are your opinions on Boris? Do you like him? Do you hate him strongly? Or do you have no opinion?
While I do like Boris, and think that he played a good role in the movie, I never loved him too much or at least haven't liked him enough to call him my favorite character.

Same. Though I do think his role greatly diminished throughout the sequels. Or at least his personality greatly lacked in something. I dunno how to describe it, but in the first movie he was fairly memorable. But he was rather forgettable in the second and third movies. 8\ I said 'like', as I've no reason to dislike him though.

As opposed to other side characters, he at least served a purpose of being a father figure to Balto and giving him advice and such. He also had some funny moments to lighten up the mood of the film. I didn't particularly like him in the sequels but, meh, they butchered nearly every character in the first film, or got rid of them altogether. I also didn't get how he was meant to fill the 'damsel in distress' role in the third film. I mean, wouldn't it have made sense to stick Stella in that situation? Not because I dislike her like the majority of the fanbase but just because we could've had more Boris-Balto moments.
<off topic>I personally didn't like Muk and Luk (even if I do like Phil Collins), I just don't get their role or how their personalities work. They didn't really have that 'spark' that Star, Nikki and Kaltag had as sidekicks and Boris seemed to work fine as a comic relief by himself. I guess it's because Balto's plot centres on a deadly pandemic and when I think of deadly pandemics, I totally think of polar bear cubs chucking snowballs at geese whilst looking for a half-frozen sled team and their musher.</off topic>

I don't dislike Boris, but he isn't one of my favorite characters either.

To me, Boris was a very uplifting character in the first film. However, the sequels made him much less likable (at least, in my opinion).

Personally, I like Boris in all three films, though DEFINITELY the first more than the others. Of all the animated movies I've seen, I can't say I've seen that many with a patriarchal figure - even if it's more of a bumbling butler more than a father in this case. But still, it's a nice change to see a male figure that the main character can look up to and take advice from. And hey, he even has his own side-adventure in the third film!
