Right now the working title is "Balto: Red Dawn" but I wanted to hear some opinions on my working plot line.

It was 1919 and seaman Garrett Wainwright has just married his sweetheart, Helen. They used to meet so often by the abandoned and beached tugboat outside of Nome that locals have affectionately nicknamed it the "Helen W." But Garrett possesses a rich secret: an old to a abandoned gold mine that was the undoing of his father and his partner Amos Cornwall. Amos died in a mine collapse and Garrett's father barely made it out alive.
The mine had to be kept a secret.
But the descendant of Amos Cornwall has tracked Garrett down and he wants the gold mine--and revenge. Everyone that Garrett loves (including his wife and adopted ten year-old son) is in danger...
But Garrett isn't alone in the fight when he has Balto, a dog he rescued out of the treacherous Alaskan cold. He trusts Balto so much that he makes a collar with a dog-tag, containing the clue to the hidden treasure map.
But that wouldn't be enough to stop Gideon Cornwall from hunting and shooting both of them. Only Balto escapes by badly wounded, with Gideon on his heels. He is stopped in time by Alan Landon, Garrett's best friend. In the fight, Balto's mate, a white wolf, manages to escape with Landon's help. Fate, however, wasn't on Balto's side. After Gideon runs off into the night, Balto lays dying with his abandoned newborn son. Wanting to remember always a friend and man's best friend, Alan Landon takes the dog-tag and takes the pup to safety...

That night the pup is named after his father and Garrett's son is lost...or so everyone thought.

The scene changes to the year 1926 in Anchorage, Alaska to an orphanage. Mark Wainwright is now old enough to go out into the world. And he has questions wanting answers. He was told that he had been in an accident that took his mother's life and his memory. The only clues to the amnesiac's past is a photograph of his father Garrett and his dog, Balto.

On the back of the photograph is the word NOME.

That is where he must go to find his past...

Wow. Very cool! I don't really care for the title (sorry, I tend to judge a book by its cover), but you have a really interesting plot there. Is it going to explain how Balto ended up in Nome? If so, I LIKE IT!
