It depends on what kind of danger it is. If it got naturally hurt or is the target of a predator I'd let it go for it. If the danger would be poachers, I'd do anything to stop them, as long as I don't necessarily need to risk my life. If the said animal would be what I consider my friend, I'd even invest my life to save it.
But if a wild animals attacks me I wouldn't hesitate to shoot it, as whoever who attacks me has to expect an answer - and if I'd have a gun then - the answer would be a bullet.
Out there in the wild it isn't about helping representants of other species, it's about survival. Survival is a game of eating or being eaten, which will be survived of the fittest, after all... I may fight for the survival of a through mankind endangered species, but not for the survival of all single individuals - they have to manage their life on their own.

So, then answer me: how many wild and truely endangered animals did you already save? I highly doubt you'd invest your own life in the survival of a wild pantherine or bear.

You know, on the internet it's always easy to say you'd chose to die for animals... my point is: I know many people who already said this, though, most of them who said it, said it on the internet. About 98% percent of those who say it in their real life freeze when they stand face to face with the danger. Why? That's the instinct, the instinct for your own survival. Why I know that? I'm in the army, militia to be correct (which is the usual thing to do in Switzerland). People who once went through military school will mostlikely know what I mean: 30% of the ones who think to be brave enough fail when they face the actual risks, and 70% percent of them are mentally strong enough to go through the training. Yet, unless someone has once been in a warzone, nobody really wouldn't care about the own life. Since we don't have wars in Switzerland (oh wonder, we're the nasty neutral nation) nobody here would ever cross that deathline at own will, unless it's a friends life that needs to be saved.
In the wild it isn't only about saving animals, in the wild it's about not getting killed by the one you want to save. So... yeah. I believe that someone can risk his life for a good animal friend, but I doubt someone would do it for another one.
(And I'm not saying it's wrong to help foreign pets. Pets have a special ranking in our own social system, and deserve to profit of our technology, in case it helps in a healthy and rational manner. Yet, in pets I doubt you'll ever get yourself into the risk of losing your own life)
Quote: you know what i think that sence you work with animals that you want the spotlight and wont believe anyone if they say something that deals with animals.
Not really, I only try to keep you people by the facts. I suppose I'm several years older than most people posting here, so simply put: it's the experience. I've already done a lot of things in my life, maybe too much, but what results from it is knowledge. Knowledge about people, politics, technology and nature. So, yeah, make of it what you want - I just think it's off the line to say you'd risk your life for animals in danger, since I hardly ever met people that kept that promise.

i know the wild isnt about saveing animals and just because a lot of people say they would risk their life for an animal and doesnt, really doesnt mean i wouldnt do that you really should give me more credit then that

So, you'd swear to me that you'd risk your life to save a cow that is hanging in a cliff? I simply doubt it.
I never denied that you would care for beasts, well, in fact you do, otherwise you wouldn't be on a "Balto - Animals" forum

Wolfhound: you didn't answer my question. It isn't: Do you save animals? It is: Would you risk your own life for an animal? Would you let someone shoot you, in order that a deer survives? Would you risk to fall down a 100m cliff, in order to save a cat? That's what I doubt. And I'm sure to 99% that I'm right here... you wouldn't risk it.
Yet, it's noble behavior when you try to save lizards from being killed by a car and free animals from snares. I support that attitude, of course, and thank you for doing so.

I'm an atheist, so the bible hardly is evidence for me.
