OK, seeing as everyone and their mother has the Balto characters done up in SOME kind of costume for Halloween, I thought I'd get some idea-swapping set up. So everyone post your ideas here for who the Balto characters might dress as.

Here are the rules (actually more like suggestions). Anyway...

1. No animals dressing as other animals like Balto as Tramp, Jenna as Lady, etc. That's just too weird. Unless it's something that would look really funny like Balto as Boris.

2. Try not to put down other people's ideas; keep it to polite disagreements like, "I don't think that really makes sense," or "I can't picture that."

3. If you're going to build off of someone else's idea, please say whose. Like if you decide to build on someone else's Avengers theme, say "I decided to mix up so-and-so's idea a bit."

4. Please have a brief explanation of why (insert Balto character) would dress up as (insert other character).

5. Just because I know how certain people think, I'm going to nip this one in the bud. Keep it appropriate, and that IS a rule here.

6. Also a rule, please, no sparkly vampires or anything like that, and no ponies. Just... no.

Themes are recommended just to keep things coherent, and if you can come up with a good fanart or short story, even just a synopsis like the characters trying to guess who's dressed as who, all the better.

OK, quick sample using the Avengers idea I mentioned earlier.

Balto: I originally figured Bruce Banner/Hulk, but I'm thinking Hawkeye because he specializes in maneuvering, which is essential for an Avenger with no powers, as well as thinking on his feet and reaching high places, both key for archery.

Jenna: Black Widow, because there aren't a lot of females involved in Avengers unless you count sideline characters, which everyone complains about Jenna being. Also, I believe Black Widow was a redhead at least in the cartoons, and as such the costume would just plain look right on her.

Steele: I'm thinking either Loki or Iron Man, because both are at least somewhat self-centered. Like Loki, he's devious and doesn't care who he has to destroy to get what he wants (which usually involves destroying someone anyway). Like Iron Man, he has a history of being very shallow when it comes to women and really doesn't have much to him without his bling-bling.

Boris: By suggestion from Skullblaka Shur'tugal, Bruce Banner, the scrawniest of the Avengers... most of the time, anyway. Also, Bruce is smart and Boris is wise, so there's some commonality. Some have also suggested Thor, which I guess makes sense in as much as part of the fun in wearing costumes is to look/feel, in this case, tougher than one actually is.

Kodi: By popular request, Captain America. He's focused, in some manners to the point of obsession, with his responsibility as a mail carrier just as Captain America refused to let his lack of physique keep him out of the military. In the sense of work ethic, both are very patriotic.

Aleu: Enchantress (see the cartoons). Again, not many females in Avengers. Also, they're similar in as much as Aleu was driven, to the extent of annoying some people, by her determination to find a place where she could belong. Similarly, Enchantress was bound and determined to find a place... in Thor's arms, that is.

I could keep thinking of these, and it's a lot of fun, but I have to get to bed. So take over, people!

Hey DT what happened to the Halloween banner?

Why are you asked DT that question. He didn't make it, and is not a site builder for Balto Source.

You should be asking Mightybalto that question, she is usually in charge of anything related to the banner.

JC and Moss are right, that is a question for Mighty. Although I do like the change, I had nothing to do with it.

Also, you put forth some very interesting ideas. Balto as a millionaire is an interesting contrast, seeing as he was always more pauper than prince. Jenna I could pretty well see as a cheerleader; I may have to put that in the anthro stories I'm working on. I don't know what a cheese clown is, but the thought of Boris as any kind of clown makes me laugh, so that works. Steele as a cyborg sounds AWESOME, especially if he were kind of a grungy looking one like Long John silver in Treasure Planet rather than a shiny stainless steel model like the Cyborg in Teen Titans (OK, titanium, but we're talking looks here). Kodi as Robin sounds... well, between comical and epic depending on how he carried himself. Either way I like it. Aleu as Wonder Woman... I guess it could work. Personally I find it easier to imagine her as Hawkgirl, but that's just me.

Keep it up. You have some neat ideas.

Just to spread this topic a bit, I'm going to roll out a bit more material. For starters, I'm going to say that personality-wise Black Widow was not the best pick for Jenna. Out of the Avengers, Wasp comes a lot closer. She has plenty of spunk but is much more pleasant than Black Widow. Also, in Avengers: Earth's Mightiest Heroes, Wasp is at times something of a more romantic character, waiting with threadbare patience for Ant Man/Giant Man to recognize her as more than a lab assistant.

Now, let's have a look at some of the supporting characters. This time I'm going to mix up my contribution and not go for themes. They won't be in any particular order either, just as they come to mind.

Morse: Quasimodo. I dunno, he just looks the part. And much like Quasimodo did with the city for most of his life, he contributed to society communicating without words.

Ralph: Beast, from Beauty and the Beast (although seeing him as the one from X-Men could be fun too). He's bulky and doesn't necessarily match the stereotypical idea of what's attractive, but a lot of people would like to see him get the girl anyway.

Star: Skull suggested making Star Spider-Man, so I'm going to put that one out there. I could also see him as ET, perhaps.

That's all I can think of at the moment, but feel free to fill in the gaps.

Nice, but maybe you could draw him dressed as Popeye instead of just with a pipe in his mouth? Just a thought.
