The following is an idea for a new Role Playing Scenario:
TITLE:
"1993: The Pirate Crew!"IDEA: The summer of 1993 is upon the residents of a small town in California, and overly protected, 16-year-old "good girl" Mickey Merlot wants desperately to hang out with the cool crowd. She's been sneaking out in order to spy on The Pirate Crew, hiding beneath the window of the dark, candle-lit room in which they hang out, and she knows a great deal about the black-and-denim-clothed, wild-living "pirates". When she dares to put one pure, white-sneakered foot, and then the other, over the window sill, will she be accepted, or rejected, by the rebellious, dangerous group that most fascinates her? Will their house become her house, too?

NAME: Michelle "Mickey" Elizabeth Merlot

PERSONALITY: Mickey has always been an outsider. She's well-protected by her parents, and she has no siblings. The Valley Girl types can't stand her studiousness. The sports kids don't like the fact that she's not in a school sport. The studious types are too busy studying to pay much mind to her. The boys think that she's a baby. The cool kids just laugh at her. She's not cool ANYWHERE that she goes, but she'll soon show the members of her favorite group, The Pirate Crew, that she's cool enough to be with THEM! She'll soon have a new, secret, nighttime identity, and a new, dangerous attitude, too.

16-year-old Mickey Merlot sits at her desk, looking out of her bedroom window. A fat-bellied bird lands upon the rock that's always been at the top of the slight hill there. The Pirate Crew would never notice that bird, and Mickey knows it.
Her stomach growls, and she instantly resents the dinner that she's just finished; she always seems to be hungry for more. Ever since the end of the school year, the same foods have appeared on the table at dinnertime, foods like baked chicken, baked apples, whole wheat bread, large tomato slices, and tuna salad. Mickey would do ANYTHING for a chicken strip, a French fry, an entire bag of crispy potato chips, for a leather miniskirt, or a wild hairstyle, or...
"I'm going back TONIGHT!", she whispers, glancing behind her impulsively, sighing when she's certain that her parents didn't hear her. Pushing her long, plain brown hair behind her ears, she casts her dark, chocolate-hued eyes upon the blank piece of lined paper that sits upon her desk.
Taking a pencil from the large, clear glass that sits to the left of her left elbow, she begins to write a tale of scandal upon the blank page that's before her, pausing every so often to gaze up through the window, to wonder what THEY'RE doing...over there...in that cool, cool house!

They sit in the darkness, one candle upon the shelf, one candle that illuminates the face of a rough-looking pirate doll; the lone, true pirate sports a red coat, and the silkiest, longest, most wind-blown black hair and beard ever, and he presides over the whispering group, as their nighttime business unfolds!

If you'd like to be a character, here are some questions that you might want to ask yourself as you create your character/ your contributions to the story:
* "Is my character 16-17, or is he, or she, an adult?"
* "What's the scene, with regards to The Pirate Crew? Is the group a club, a criminal organization (Ie: A band of thieves), an occult organization, a group of homeless people, a group of truly sad drug addicts/ drunks, or just a bunch of kids who know exactly what Mickey has been doing, and who want to make Mickey jealous and desperate, only to taunt her later? Does my specific character have a specific motive, no matter WHAT everybody ELSE from The Pirate Crew is doing, or will he, or she, go along with what the other members of the group believe to be cool?"
* "Will I have my character get caught by somebody besides Mickey? Will my character ever get into trouble, and, if he, or she, does get into trouble, will he, or she, ever try to mend his, or her, ways? Will he, or she, ever try to make The Pirate Crew into a good, or a better, organization?"

Okay, since nobody else has volunteered to be a character, and since I am actually enjoying the fact that I'm writing this story, I'm going to volunteer to be one, or more other characters besides Mickey.

NAME: Angel "Angie" Beth Marquis

AGE TURNED DURING 1993: 19
PERSONALITY: Angie is, on the surface, an air-headed trend-follower, but underneath her trendy, easily-swayed surface lurk a shrewd sense of determination, intelligence, and even a bit of cruel darkness.
BEST FRIEND(S): She seems to like EVERYBODY from The Pirate Crew, but she was introduced to the crew, and to her husband, by her best friend Rexanne Toddbey
BOYFRIEND/ GIRLFRIEND/ SPOUSE: She married her high school sweetheart, Rodney "Rod" Alexander Dolson, during 1992, right after she'd turned 18.
PET(S): A fluffy, dark grey female cat named Princess Sooty Foot

Angie Marquis adjusts her long, blonde ponytail.
"I'M cool with that!," she declares, snuggling against Rod's shoulder, gazing down at her wedding ring. The fearless leader of the crew smiles down at her, catching her eye, and she returns the smile.
Suddenly, Rexanne turns to Angie, asking her if she brought the baked potato-flavored chips with her.
Laughing, Angie shakes her head, but she lets her eyes sparkle trustingly as she says, "Oops, Rexi! I guess I forgot!" When Rod ribs her lightly, the lovely blonde just sighs, leaning against his buff chest comfortably, but suddenly, her mind is somewhere else.
As she drifts away, she thinks about the pain that she was bearing just a few days ago, about the doctor who kept saying, "It'll all be over SOON, my dear," about the fact that the baby's name would have been 'Hollie', about the fact that the baby WAS going to be a girl, even if nobody was able to tell her that...
She stares over at Rod's pants, in order to distract herself, so that she won't cry. A Pirate NEVER cries, even if she and her husband have less money than it would take to raise a child, even if she's fighting back tears during every moment that her future child's imaginary image hits her mind...
Sighing, Angie breaks away from the group. Approaching the shelf that holds the pirate doll and the candle, she allows her long, sheer skirt to be warmed by the fire that roars below the loaded shelf, tilting her head to one side as she lovingly touches the pirate doll's beard.

BOYFRIEND/ GIRLFRIEND/ SPOUSE: Unknown, although, once Mickey has enough courage to try to join the crew, he and she are intrigued by each other. In her mind, he is sort of a strange, strict Victorian father-type.

Rexanne approaches Angie quietly; putting her hand upon the blonde's shoulder, she whispers something into her ear, and the blonde woman turns to hug her.
"It's certainly not EASY for me", breathes Angie, "but J.G. wouldn't have recommended him if he'd been unsafe." Her face smiles, but her eyes remain uncertain, and the residual pain makes her wince even now, as she thinks back on the dark, dank basement, and that bare, wooden table...
When she hugs Rexanne again, crying silently, her friend smiles into her ear.
"There's STILL hope for the future!", Rexanne insists, but Angie gasps, snarling quietly, "There will BE no more children, and you KNOW it!"
"We'll FIND you one...a little GIRL!", promises Rexanne, beaming all too cheerfully.
"In WHAT?", questions Angie, pulling away, wiping her face hurriedly. "In WHAT? A TRASHCAN? An ALLEYWAY? A MINI-MART?" Shaking her head, she races back to sit beside Rod, burying her face in his broad shoulder, kissing his neck until he kisses her for real.
Rexanne lifts her eyes to the ceiling, praying silently for her friend. When she returns to the circle, she gives Angie a sympathetic look of apology.
Garrick narrows his eyes.
"Are we all in AGREEMENT about the situation, crew? Is there anyone HERE who does NOT agree with me about this?"
Tabitha looks up from her black-clothed lap, piercing Garrick with her vacuous stare.
"If this is going to become our new home, then can I somehow remember my MOTHER around here...SOMEHOW...please?" Tabitha feels Emma's supportive hug, but her eyes keep themselves fixed upon those of Garrick, who remains unflinchingly strict and icy.
"I guess that we could arrange a tributary spot," he manages, and Tabitha looks down at her lap again.
"Yeah, but what'll we do after SUMMER?", inquires Kristina, tilting back her head to finish off the fluid that remains inside of the bottle that she held in one hand.
Her husband Pedro grabs the bottle from her, setting it down beside him emphatically.
"Geez, Crazy! YOU'RE not goin' back to school in the Fall!"
She gives him a hazily-determined glare.
"Yeah," she says, "but some of THEM are, Ding Dong!"
"Unfortunately!", drones Tabitha.
"Well, I'M looking forward to school!", says Patrick.
"Me, TOO!", agrees Emma, smiling at Patrick, until her cheeks are too pink to have simply been influenced by that roaring fire.
"We'll just make this our WEEKEND home THEN!", offers Angie, smiling at the younger Pirates.
Pedro frowns.
"IF we can count on J.G. to keep our SECRET for us!", he says warily, staring at Garrick.
Garrick's lovely girlfriend, Aleesha, shrugs good-naturedly.
"He took care of ANGIE for us, didn't he?", she says, but Garrick immediately raises his hand to her.
"I SWEAR, Aleesha,", he hisses, "if you can't be smarter than to say things like THAT, I'll-"
Angie is at his side at once, holding his arm.
"LOOK, Garrick, she's RIGHT, isn't she?" The sexy, golden-haired woman beams at her fearless leader. "J.G. DID arrange to...take care of the...dilemma...for me...for all of us." Gazing at the floor, she returns to her place, barely able to avoid crying when her face falls upon Rod's shirt. The handsome Pirate comforts her, trying to be sensitive and stoic, wearing the blankest of faces before his peers.
Garrick nods silently, pulling Aleesha towards him, gripping her waist possessively, until she sighs, short of breath.
"Let's get this done before the 4th of July!", he orders.
"J.G. is getting something in RETURN for his...graciousness...," says Pedro.
"Well..." The strict, punk-rude leader's voice trails off uncertainly.
"TELL us, Garrick! We followed YOU over here awhile back, as far as I recall!"
"FINE, Pedro!", snarls Garrick, glaring at the determined Pirate. "We guard his house for him, whenever he's not here. We safeguard whatever he steals on his trips outside, and we take NONE of it for ourselves, unless he GIVES it to us!" His glare rests upon Angie, and she shakes her head at him.
"We work on an underground HIDEOUT, which we must create BENEATH his BASEMENT...by the END of this Summer, so that if THEY ever come for us...ANY of them...we can hide ourselves...and HIM, if NECESSARY!"
Emma sighs dreamily.
"WHAT?", inquires Tabitha.
"To be underground...with HIM!" giggles the redhead.
"SURE!", smirks Tabitha. "You're not the SLIGHTEST bit...INTIMIDATED by him, riiight?"
Garrick's piercing stare silences Emma and Tabitha. Boring through Emma's face with his eyes, the leader of the Pirates takes a deep breath.
"LISTEN, you ungrateful...KID! This is NOT a JOKE, in ANY way, shape, or FORM! What J.G. does in his private time is HIS business! WE don't ask the QUESTIONS, DO we? If HE'S GIVING, and WE'RE TAKING, then WE must be GRATEFUL! We must not hope for...well, we have to..."
"What he MEANS is that you're TOO YOUNG to be thinking about J.G. like that!" says Kristina, laughing.
"Yes, EXACTLY!" agrees Garrick, glad to avoid an impromptu talk about "The Birds and The Bees".
"I'm HUNGRY!", whines Kristina, waving the empty wine bottle in the air.
