Is there any movie you think is overrated? Share your thoughts here.

Avengers - It wasn't a bad movie. In fact, it was a good and very entertaining action movie, but praising it to heavens and calling it the best movie of all the time? No, definitely NO. To call a movie "great", it needs something more than action. Some inteligent plot depth that "Avengers" definitely did not have. And because of this - it is horribly overrated movie.

Bolt - Would I watch it again? Never. It wasn't a good movie after all, so I can't understand why so many people are so excited about it. There are PLENTY of other, better dog movies..

I agree with Bolt. I haven't watched it in its entirety since I saw it in theaters. Avengers, however, is one of the most epic movies ever, IMO<3

Titanic is one of mine. I mean, I think it's a great movie and all, but... why it's one of the highest grossing in history I'll never know.
Avatar was another one. Again, this movie was spectacular, but just like Bolt, I haven't watched the whole thing since theaters. This one, though, is probably because it's too long and too... lacking. Some movies I'll watch entirely even if they're 2 and a half hours, 3 hours whatever. But Avatar... nah.

I'll probably post more when I remember some more...

I pretty much agree with what Moki said ;3
Avengers is awesome < 3 alalalala

But for me, the main movie I think is overrated is Snow White and the Huntsman. I found the plot okay, the characters were all over the place, and what's with the bathing in milk thing? D: Completely unnecessary! It was hyped up in the trailer but made no sense, apart from possibly how she treated her people? Kristen Stewart's acting just makes me cringe too... It looked great though :3 I just understand why so many people liked it...

One thing I did love about it was Sam Claflin Cx I'm always excited to see him in a film as he's from my town in the UK!

Harry Potter series, any Twilight movie, and the Hunger Games. I dislike all three anyway. And I don't get why people were raving about them (primarily HP and HG) because Imao they weren't all that at all.

I didn't know Bolt got all great ratings either XD to me it was just more Disney hype like they did with Brave. I watched Bolt but I wouldn't say it was great, besides I find it very hard to get over hearing Miley Cyrus as the voice actor for Penny.

I actually love Harry Potter, though I can agree on the fact that it's a wonder why it's so popular. The vampires, well... as bad Twilight is (don't get me wrong, I used to be a big fan, though never a rabid fangirl), I can understand why it's overrated. Harry Potter with wizards and stuff though? It's something I think only strange people like me who only read/watch fictional books and movies would like xD I wonder why so many "normal" people did.

Hunger Games I agree with too, even if I like it as well. I thought it was too average to become a phenomenon, though... So I agree with your points, Fairy.

I do read a lot of fantasy/fictional things. But witches, wizards, warlocks, whatever the heck else is contained in those books doesn't attract me. Exception, Lord of the Rings, which I still need to find a copy of those books and read eventually. And Narnia, but that only had one witch so eh. Add to that, that some major fans of the series ridiculed me for my dislike of it, well yeah I could go on.

In the Avengers, I disagree that it's overrated, but I think the action and how well the characters were portrayed generally made up for the lack of plot. Whoever is saying that it's the best movie of all time is overrating it, but I definitely think it's one of the best superhero movies ever made. So overrated in action? No, plotwise? It wasn't given high points for that anyway. Hidden text : click to show

The Avengers- Sorry it wasn't as good as people were making it seem to be. I actually found it quite boring :/

Bolt- Once again not THAT great of a film. I do like it of course and I own my own copy of it. But it could have been way better.

Hunger Games- Same as the Avengers. The greatness didn't match the hype. It was Okay at best.

Twilight - Any of them count. I have known far.. far too many people who got so hyped with this movie. Perhaps i'm wrong to say its a bad series cause perhaps the books were somewhat decent in SOME way. I cant judge as I didnt read but nothing of the movies which yes I've seen parts of the first and each part made me wanna throw up.. Overhyped by girls for topless very unattractive vampire man.. Jacob is just Buff so that enough is to say its stupid.. i remember watching the trailer to the second movie and infact hyped just cuase of seeing the wolves.. so much so i didnt notice till the end of it was twilight. and i think I screamed in the cinema of how stupid that was.. xD But honesty.. I hate the movies.. All of em.. I hate how pathetic and a Dumba** in distress she is.

Harry Potter - I admit, growing up I did love this movie and theres good reason why. When your a kid, well when MOST.. are.. They love this movie cause its just so big and fantastically made and what kid doesnt love some Magic eh? But when grown up and I take a look.. It is a good movie.. The first few.. for Kids.. It just seems abit too dull for me and I can see why others find it overrated now that I had a grown up look at it. Some scenes were just silly and sometimes personally I find powers like magic abit uncomforting unless used in a tasteful way. Hard to explain really, but thats based off personal opinion. Also tomention after Goblet of Fire.. It got REALLY silly.. Especially with the whole change of topic onto 'love' n whatnot for Harry.. I mean fair does we all go through the stage of crushes and love as teenagers but I didn't really enjoy to watch Harry go through that sort of 'silly' phase.

Bolt - I admit I slightly enjoyed the movie.. SLIGHTLY.. AFTER the movie making part. It just irritated me to watch those movie scenes and even then. Now I look back to the rest of the movie it was just Silly.. plain typical movie silly. Theres far better animated animal animations out there and as nice it is to see something different (I say that but this idea is probably and most likely done loads before..) But for me it was different. It just didnt really spark anything of special. Its like watching most (NOTE I said most) movies now-a-days. Its just forgettable and nothing thrilling. Movies aren't made the way they were before. Sometimes I just wished CGI was like.. yknow... dead -.-. I admit some is impressive and It is a nice change BUT it just bores me now as i look at it. I prefer the good old times with animation. BRING THAT BACK YO!

Note for those who agree on the animation - Wasnt it totally awesome to ever see a few CGI's and then go back to the memory of a cartoon you once watched as a kid? I remember doing it first with Ed, Edd and Eddy.. Oh gosh the animation change is such a huge difference but I still loved Ed, Edd and Eddy more XD Im one for good detail and story.. not looks.

Now Im aware I had posted some movies that were ALREADY mentioned.. Moreso I did that to respond my own opinions. I never watched Avengers or Hunger Games and frankly I still think the hype for Hunger Games was silly. But thats my opinion.

Heres something different.. its not something for 'overrated' but more for 'overmade'

COMEDY - I say in caps cause its DEAD! I swear all I see is how AWFUL comedy has gone with their movies.. Im seeing REPEAT and REPEAT of the SAME ideas.. ITS ALWAYS some GUY.. and some GIRL.... something WEIRD is in the middle.. its ment to be funny.. its fecking STUPID... Its overdone and its boring the heck out of me.. Hangover for a Major I say was alittle overrated.. atleast by how much i heard of it from College friends and two irl friends of mine. Its just.. not Funny when its always the blooming same.. Some guys go out to Vegas, Get wasted, wake up ina weird situation with a lost friend.. It wasnt that funny.. infact I didnt find a part of it that much humorous other than a Tiger in the bathroom. Then again I had hoped that Tiger ended up getting freed and attacking one of the guys. that perhaps of entertained me as it would be different. but no. Everyone in these movies are immortal anywho.

Im moreso annoyed at how their all so unsettling too.. And though most are the same, some are HIGHLY and i mean HIIIIIIIIGHLY Inappropriate.. Why? I was ending up watching one so blooming horrid and boring with my mother.. Me and my lovely mum had settled down to just chill out to a movie. She picked up some random comedy (Not saying its name.. Its not appropriate at all for this.) but it sounded a bit of a laugh.. It wasnt till 3mins in i already knew I was going to turn it off cause.. first of all something with high amounts of swearing, sexual themes and nudity.. is somehow FUNNY?! i mean REALLY?... I turned it off after like 15mins cause me and my mum couldn't STAND watching something so stupid and unfunny.. and yknow whats stupid? I realized the movie was done MANY times in MANY ways before.. One most famous was a mother and her daughter which i remember hearing was good.. but this? Horrid.. (Also to note the case didnt warn of nudity, swearing, sexual themes on the case.. which im sure is illegal.. and the movie was a 15.. a 15?!... really..)

Comedy is dying in the movie industry.. I'll stick to Improv and Standup.

I apologize for the Rants of such. Its like 5am and Im tired and im really not a happy person right now due to some people. But I hope someone can agree.

This this this and a lot of this^^;

CGI is nice and all, and there are quite a few CGI movies that I like: Madagascar, Ice Age, Kung Fu Panda. But I really do miss the traditionally animated movies. The last big one that I can remember was Princess and the Frog (Good, but I'm not much into princess movies so I mainly watched that for nostalgia).

I agree with ya on comedy as well Zion. I admit there are some things I now find funny that I didn't find funny a while back, but a lot of it is the same: drunk, drugs, women and well s*x. Quite tiring if you ask me. And that girl from Twilight (Bella?) is one of the dumbest characters ever. (Seriously how much conflict could have been avoided if she just chose one guy haha).

Agree with the latter two, but I would like to know why you found the Avengers boring because that was some of the best action I've seen in a long time (Until Expendables 2 haha), but I'm guessing maybe you're not an action type?

Twilight Saga, only reason people went see it was the half naked guysXD

High school musical movies, for they were pure crap, calling them the best musicals makes me wanna smack you.

Piranha 3DD cuz well its basicly a porno, no where near as good as the first, and the walking piranha bit was like come on really! though it was cool when that kid got hit head bitten offXD
