After the latest situation with one person's fan character, I felt to bring up this little rant. The unwritten (and thankfuly, not really respected) rule about character's breed. Some people here think that fan character whose species didn't appear in the movie, shouldn't be allowed. What if coyotes lived in America? Your character can't be a coyote related to SSOTC because coyotes didn't appear in the movie. What if African Wild Dogs live in Africa? Your character can't be an African Wild Dog related to TLK because African Wild Dogs didn't appear in the movie. Et cetera.... For me, it's a very ridicculous way of thinking. Thse characters aren't sparkle, badly made, unrelated to the movie itself NOR movie realism. I can see no reasons of why people shouldn't have right to make them. It's more ridiculous when I see horses of any breed on SSOTC Source or dogs of any breed(especially then new breeds created after 20's) on Balto Source. To me Dingo(breed, not character) on Balto Source makes less sense than Lynx.

Are some mods deactivating these kinds of characters? I don't see anything wrong with making a character with a species that actually DOES live in that area. I think it adds variety and lets members expand their knowledge, not to mention creativity since each species looks different. I don't like seeing just dogs or wolves on BS for example. How boring is that.

Well, what happened was that my character Paz was deactivated for not having a like and dislike (don't get me started on this silly rule). But then, if I dare say, Brown_Wolf came onto my profile to argue that Paz being a horse is not Balto related, and tried to convince me that horses may have not have existed in Nome (which they did), and that no horses were in the movie (which is true). I responded with links of photos of horses in Nome, and after that Paz appeared reactivated. He did end up deactivated again, but I, being a site builder, reactivated him and added the like and dislike so that the mods would leave me alone.
I almost personally feel this was some sort of an attack on me.
But back on topic, I agree, animals that existed in the area in which a movie was based should be allowed. Like everyone else has stated, seeing dogs and wolves gets boring. As long as the animal is intertwined into the story, I see no issue with that.

I wholeheartedly, and totally agree,I too see absolutely nothing wrong with fan characters getting deactivated,as long as they're Animation Source related,it's NOT boring at all. -Celtic Kate

BUT... it does expand creativity having these new... creations on AS. I'm sorry. It was NOT an attack on you at all. I was caught off guard, nothing more, nothing less.
