Now, if I could say anything about these games is this....fusion baby!
I love the concept of being able to change into a demon to rank mass hurtage and ownage. That is great.
The biggest claim to fame these games have over the norm, is this: Judgement Ring!
Go to the media section on the site and view the video about the ring, its awesome!
This is where when you do anything in a battle, whether it be using a potion, casting a spell, sending your
wolf character to attack, is all done on the Judgement Ring. In a nutshell, you are given this ring that has wedges on it that you have to hit the 'X' button as the spinning lines passes it. If you miss, then whatever you were doing fails to occur. So in a way, each battle becomes a matter of mastering your reflexes and can really turn the tide in a battle, for better or worse....and believe me, I have gotten my arse beaten good from missing a connection.
Well, for you wolf lovers, here is some good news. In the second game, you have a wolf character names Blanca in your party that is awesome.
I am not going to dwell deep into story and the like as it is pretty complex, but all in all, the game is very nicely done, without its quirks too but that is in any game these days.
Graphics wise, the first game will not impress you if that is what you look for in games. It is fairly basic, but then again, most titles for PS2 at launch time were like that. What it lacked in graphics, the story is very touching. The second title is a lot better graphics wise, and overall feels much better, and uses the judgement ring much more in depthly and creatively.
Well, there you have it. Try this game out if you could. I recommend the first game before the sequal, but technically you can still go through the second one without the first and you will still enjoy it.
