Unfortunately, Bob Hoskins, who played Boris in the first (and other?) Balto movies has retired from acting after being diagnosed with Parkinson's Disease. Parkinson's Disease is a progressive disease of the nervous system that is marked by tremors, muscular rigidity, and slow, imprecise movement. It's an incredible shame that anyone, including Bob Hoskins, has to suffer from such a disease. BBC News wrote: Bob Hoskins is to retire from acting after being diagnosed with Parkinson's disease.
The 69-year-old star of [Balto] has enjoyed a career spanning four decades.
In a statement on Wednesday, his agent said he was withdrawing from acting after a "wonderful career" and would be spending time with his family.
Hoskins achieved a Golden Globe nomination for his role as a private detective opposite the animated bunny.
"He wishes to thank all the great and brilliant people he has worked with over the years, and all of his fans who have supported him during a wonderful career," said the statement.
"Bob is now looking forward to his retirement with his family, and would greatly appreciate that his privacy be respected at this time." Full article: http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/entertainment-arts-19176729

Hey, OMG! If I'm right, Bob Hoskins was that guy who starred in "Who Framed Roger Rabbit" as the detective! Wow! That's really, really sad, as he is a super good actor. See Ya' Later, Dixie Baby

It's very unfortunate that an actor like him has to suffer with this disease. I've only seen him in two movies (Balto and Enemy at the Gates), but I love how he was able to give the characters the personalities that they needed for the roles they played. I'm sure many people don't want to see him end his acting career, but as long as he's had great life doing it and will be happy in retirement, that's what really matters. I wish him and his family good luck in dealing with this disease!
