Well, I didn't expect for myself to have the philosophical mood in normally adapted for having fun places, or swimming pool. I've gotta two strange questions for ya all, Spinners:

1. When I started surfing underwater (sic! whatta crazy vixen from me! XP), using the secure desk for the begginers, I thought it's hard to balance my own body, especially on the small desk. But... I wondered also about one thing: if Kit was the skysurfing master (let's call this kind of surfing, cloudkick or cloudkicking), he could be trained first to surf on the water (maybe also underwater, but it's physically impossible, for me :/) by the unknown professional (I bet that would be one of the less known Pirates), yes - no?

2. When I looked at the same desk, in which I fell most of the time, I noticed the French word "protégé" (which was used by Don Karnage frequently), meaned "protected". I was previously thought that "protégé" is the function of the future heir to the Karnage's throne, but now some thoughts came to me. By who Kit had to be protected before the left like the traitor the Pirates Family? Why? Who was Karnage afraid of to protect kit against the threat? Or what?

What do ya think about it all?

:-| I'm having a difficult time wording my response, but it's quite possible that Karnage wanted to protect Kit from people (or really, creatures) like Baloo who would try to teach him that there's more to life than just being arrogant and leading a life of crime.

I think you thought Karnage also might taught "carpe diem" rule, but I'm still not sure :/

Most likely he did. And that's my two cents worth here ;)

For the first one air is much less dense then water and correct use of body position and a board ment for the job would do it.
And he may have or just seen it and it "clicked".

For the latter, he had a soft spot for him and sore he had some talent that could be of use so he tried too exploit it, many people who take kids under their wing have selfish motives in the end.
But your right on the term and he did seem to keep an eye on him.

But I think "clicking" the other people work isn't easy as seen :/

The term 'protegé' in English and in French has different connotations, if not different meanings. While it does indicated a 'protected' status, in English it implies being trained and/or raised by someone in their image. I think they felt that the term 'Apprentice' wouldn't be sufficient, and Karnage would want to opt for a far grander title. Does that mean he was to be heir to Karnage? Absolutely. No doubt in my mind. Kit was to be the next Dread Pirate, heir to the Karnage legacy... at least, until both got bored of each other. As much as they'd hate to admit it, Kit and Karnage are too much alike to ever work well together. Ironically that's what made him a perfect protegé, but I doubt either of them was ready for the realities of it.

As for cloud surfing, not only is it possible, it has been done. Let's not forget that the Sea Duck is a 30's era flying boat (or seaplane if you want to be less generous to its lineage) and no matter how powerful its radial engines might have been, they would never have produced the same power and torque as a turboprop today. In essence, the airspeed of the Sea Duck would be much lower than that of a commercial turboprop airplane of today. Much like is the case with wakeboarding or waterskiing today, the airspeed would be sufficiently high to allow a board to skim along, but not high enough to cause this board to be significantly affected by one of the four forces of flight: drag. The elliptic wing design of the board would undoubtedly aid in producing lift, and as long as the rider allows for the tendency of the board to want to rise in the airstream, it can be controlled to a degree that 'surfing' becomes possible. This is why you always see Kit with his knees bent on the board and the tow rope taut: he's pushing down on the board. Allowing it to rise would slow him down, while pushing it down would speed it up but negate the lift, causing it to drop. A steady pressure would keep the board steady and at a constant speed.

It's true that air has a different consistency than water, but objects react roughly the same. For the sake of aerodynamics, air can be thought of as a liquid, so underwater surfing would feel the same as cloud surfing... just much slower :)

If anyone has any questions about aerodynamics, feel free to ask.

These answers are for me the most detailed I've ever seen, but THNX anyway for giving me answers ;)

It means, he saw some people doing it and he realised that if he did it with his board he'd do what they were doing, just in the air.
Sorry term I'm used to.

He comes off as the type and I also ment he saw them on the water and got the idea that it'll work. I always thought he came up with the skill with the pirates, with nothing much to do the more adventures ones may find the idea fun.

It is something probably Karnage learned from the previous captain since he called him his son like he is best pirate or something.
