You know that puppy maker game? You see a lot of members using these images all over the place. Whether that be from being used in characters, or using the images for that stupid adoption thing they do. Here is my argument with this.
These people did NOT even color these! Not in a way that I myself find acceptable. This is a flash game that is on Deviantart, just search for "puppy maker". All you have to do is press buttons, so there is 0 effort going into these so called "creations". You can't do much with this game, and I'm sure there are plenty of dogs that look alike due to that. And my last thing I want to say about these being accepted into the images is, these are NOT linearts. Even if they're giving credit to the owner, this isn't something that was intended to be used as a lineart. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I'm sure that's the case.
This is what the rules say:
Allowed Edited screenshots (ex : mixing several pictures, adding text, effects...) Good renders Desktops, avatars, icons, signatures Colored Linearts
Not Allowed Unedited screenshots Bad renders Your fanarts Pictures made by other artists Photo backgrounds Non-Balto related pictures are not allowed. (NB : backgrounds from other films are allowed IF the characters are official Balto characters)
NOTE: Pictures made by other artists -It says pictures made by other artists are against the rules. I know this means using other people's images, linearts, etc, but since these dogs come from a game that wasn't a lineart that you could download and color yourself, wouldn't that fit into this category?

Indeed, it is quite lazy. Puppy makers are good to use for a quick reference, but nowhere near a fan creation- official characters and fan characters alike.

I completely agree. And to add on:
It is technically art by another person because SOMEONE had to draw it. And if it doesn't fit into that, then I think it should fit into the category of Unedited Screenshots. Right? I mean, someone just printed the screen of the dog they made and put it up on AS WITHOUT editing it.

Still don't get why these are even allowed at all. Same with renders. Actually no renders are worse. But the point stands.
Stop it people. It's silly and annoying. People will have more respect for you if you do your own stuff, even if it looks scribbled, it's better than using someone else's hard work.

You're ALL right and totally spot-on. However, as with sparkle animals, unrealistic animals, and really REALLY bad renders ("it needs more RED!" ), not a gosh-darned thing is going to happen AT ALL until a rules revision is in place and someone is willing to strictly and relentlessly police it, and not play ANY favorites or back off when someone whines like a little brat that they're stuff was unfairly targeted for deletion. Of course, with the spotty on-again/off-again nature of the site lately, this all may be a moot question, really. As might everything else. Just sayin'...

^ (off-topic moment) I just don't see the point of adoptables anyway. Like I've ranted on before, kiddies are constantly spewing out puppies. Look, children, this isn't a virtual pet site. If you want to take care of puppies, kittens, etc, PLEASE go to some place like Chicken Smoothie. Any place but here. Why? because this is a fan site. Spewing out puppies is certainly not expressing your fandom for any of the sites here. ...This site is literately raining cats and dogs.
Also, I thought making puppies for no reason was against the rules? The instant someone makes a character, someone ALWAYS has to come along and make a mate for it, and the rest is history. That seems pretty pointless to me. Think about it, the moment someone makes a mate, puppies appear. This is just as pointless as just making the puppies, because really, it's the same exact thing, just a mate tossed in.
Gosh, if these puppies keep popping out like they're coming from some sort of factory, Nome is going to have to build a animal control building, and then ship a lot of these dogs elsewhere to make room for more.
Please, kiddies, leave the breeding to the professionals. And by that I mean people on this site who actually do a good job of this.

Then there should be a rule regarding adoptables. Although adoptables as gifts are one thing - at least to me - but just making them for the sake of making them calls for trouble of some kind.

While we're kinda on the subject even if it is a bit off topic, adoptables I don't mind for it's at least showing some creativity and it's your own work (or it should be anyway), and that's what images and drawings are for. However I'd rather they were done by as rules stated. At least then it shouldn't get so out of control. Paxis wrote: The Creators/"Makers": Cub, Kitten, and Puppy MakersBBA Character CreatorKamirah's makers can also be found on Doll Divine. Examples: Char 1 (many examples from the same user) Char 2Char 3Char 4 (many examples from this user as well) Char 5 (All above are Kamirah examples and this one is by Onetrickwolf- commonly credited to KayFedewa given she's the BBA comic maker) Char 6 (Headshot only- also by Onetrickwolf) Thanks much, Paxis. And for the two you linked, Sakujo. 8] Characters made with these makers I don't mind so much. Not everyone can draw, and if a writer (for example) wanting to show what their character(s) look(s) like with a character page, a maker is very helpful as long as credit for the pictures are given. But for images, like Black Rose and others have said, it's someone else's hard work, and it's practically stealing.

This, along with another handful of ideas, shouldn't be allowed.
As for adoptables, that's a tight subject. I personally don't mind them, because some are decent. Others are just a jumble of sparkle characters made because they have nothing better to do.

And Mighty, while we're at it, let's not forget the dumdums who use "Doll Divine" to make adoptables. There's one up on the Balto Source "What's New Today" under images. I won't link it (because I know I'll draw a reprimand), nor will I indicate who is responsible for that latest train wreck. All I will say is that it is titled "More cute and lovable Adoptables!" And it's getting the typical responses from the typical folks who always comment on these things and encourage this sort of nonsense. Nonsense which SHOULD be against the rules.
