I think there should be a button on the creator's post, that only the creator can access that will allow them to lock or delete their own posts. It will save moderators the time of doing it theirselves. Just my thought.

I disagree with that.

A member could very easily cover their tracks if the post or topic was offensive. Secondly, if a mod locked a topic, the member could just easily unlock it.

Well, I mean, it doesn't necessarily have to be an unlock button to go along with it. And if they were disobeying the site rules, moderators could still be able to view it.

Either that or there could be an approval area to lock an RP.

If a member has the power to delete a post, then the post would be gone and no one would be able to see it, not even the Mods. The only way a member could prove that only member said something offensive would be to take a screen shot.




Isn't that basically how it is now? A member asks a Mod to lock a topic, and then they do... To me, it seems like pretty much the same thing.

To grant a user permission to lock a topic also grants them the permission to unlock said topic, as per standard phpBB rules.
