Two households, both alike in dignity,
In fair Verona, where we lay our scene,
From ancient grudge break to new mutiny,
Where civil blood makes civil hands unclean.
From forth the fatal loins of these two foes
A pair of star-crossed lovers take their life,
Whose misadventured piteous overthrows
Doth with their death bury their parents? strife.
The fearful passage of their death-marked love

Which but their children?s end, naught could remove,
Is now the two-hours?traffic of our stage;
The which if you with patient ears attend,
What here shall miss, our toil shall strive to mend.


A Romeo and Juliet story, without the depressing dying in the end and with horses rather than people. Two herds, the Cing (Yes, spelled with a c) herd and the Midnight herd. One young mare and one young stallion are destined for each other, no matter what their parents think.

Personality: Feeling the grass fly under his hoofs is his his living dream. He loves being free and wild as the wind. He loves swimming and running. He is a protector of his heard but isn't afraid to fight for what he believes in. He fears being captured by both Indians and colonist.

Rose snorted and stood on the edges of the herd, she sighed, the minute she started to wander her father would stop her and say 'Rose, what have I told you about leaving the herd, it's not safe. We don't want to Cings getting hold of you and then there's the two-legs.' she would sigh and stay, but she gazed into the prairie with longing.

Willows ears twitched with excitement as he seen the storm heading their way. The sweet smell of the grass filled his nose. He wanted to run with it, but it was also heading to the Midnight heard as well. He was forbidden to even smell in their direction. His mother has warned him as a young colt to stay away from them or they will kill you on the spot. He slowly let out a sight and picked his way through the grass.

Rose tossed her head and looked at the other horses, they too were antsy, she could tell. A storm was something that always hadthe herd nervous, but of course, there was no trees really, not here, so they were stuck. A raindrop fell on her nose and she bobbed her head, she actually likes the rain, she loved to run in it and play as well, but she was a young mare now and that wasnt appropriate apparently, unless the whole her started to run around, which happened, but only when her father, the lead stallion chose, and her father had lost all love for a good fun when her mother had died, so she twitched and tried to keep 'proper.'

A sudden drop falls on his golden brown coat. It chilled its way down his back. He lifted his head quickly and looked around at the heard, waiting on his mothers word for the okay. She was the best at deciding when to run or if were safe. After his father died his mother stayed to herself, barley talking to anyone. She also raised her head, her gray worn faced faced his and she slowly looked at the sky and stared into it. Her deep brown eyes searched the sky when she suddenly they widened and flashed back at his and nodded. That was all he needed. He reared up swinging his feet in the air and let out his calling to run. The herd's voice called back and dust filled the air. The sound of thundering hooves filled the sky and echoed through the land.

Rose snorted as she caught the sound of approaching hooves, her father was alert of course, but she watche him raise his head and sniffed the air. He caught her eye, "the Cings!" he said, the whole herd looked at him, he had his eyes still on her. Her morher's death made her lead mare, thus she nodded, she started to trot and the her followed her, her father stayed to confront the other herd, his was out territory and the other herd was acting out of turn, she led the herd away, towards safety.

The wind began to change and the heard began to feel the nervous tension in the air. Willow quickly looked at his mother and shocked covered her face. " Why have the gods sent this on us!" She whispered. Willow knew what it was and if it gets closer it will be the last of the heard. Suddenly it hit him, the surroundings have changed into unfamiliar territory. He was leading his heard into Midnight Territory. He turned to his mother and told her to take care of them, he knew the midnight leader would already be expecting them, so he had no choice. He kept running on until he smelt him. He silently wished his mother goodbye, afraid for the first time in years.

After leading her herd to safety, Rose turned and trotted back towards her father, she was scared for him, he was older now and she knew he couldnt exactly hold his own to anything much, a young stallion could easily overrule him with strength, she knew her father was witty though, she saw him, a young Cingular stallion was galloping towards him, she was scared, but she didn't stop, instead she stood by her father.

Willow seen him. He was an older horse, but that made no difference. He knew what ever happened was his fault. Then he seen her. She must have been the lead mare, the way she had her head raised by the Midnight leader. He quickly slowed down and expected all those horror stories he was once told by the mares as a young colt. Suddenly he felt his pride hit him. It not his fault. He did nothing wrong. He was protecting his heard from the funnel cloud. But would the midnight leader understand?

Rose ran her eyes up and down the stallion, he wasn't bad, nothing like the Cingular horses were supposed to be, she looked at her fater, who looked unhappy, "why did you run your herd into our territory?" he inquired, she looked the other stallion, he really was a very 'handsome' horse, and she snorted and raised her head high.

Willow braced himself, " The storm was producing a tornado, I ran my heard the only safe direction. I apologizes that I ran through your territory." He quickly glanced back at the mare. She was young, and very beautiful. These two horses were not what he imagined to be the dreadful Midnight heard. They were just... horses. His blue eyes swept right back to the heard leader and was ready for a fight if it had to be.

Rose's father considered this for a moment. She could see him thinking about weather or not to believe the other, he looked at her, "what do you think Rose, you'll be deciding things like this soon, I won't be here for much longer. Go ahead, tell him what your thinking." he said, Rose was nervous now, she could always count on her father to put her in the spotlight, "I believe you." she said after a moment, he didn't look like a liar, and go would lie about something like that.

For a second Willow was frozen in spot until those words melted his thoughts on to track. He was re-leaved that it didnt turn out bad. He slowly bent down his neck and thanked them for understanding. The rain was still coming though, and he needed to find a safe place tonight from the storm. He quickly glanced back at the beutiful mare who saved him a fight. She was like a horse he has never seen before.

Rose shook her head and smiled, "my pleasure." she said and smiled. She looked at her father, he seemed fine with her decision, maybe even pleased. She turned and started to walk back towards the herd, she looked at her father again, they would have to move to safety.
