I didn't see a topic for this one, so I thought I'll post about it.
So this is Walt Disney's and Pixar's --probably-- newest film, to be released in June in USA.
Here's the short synopsis on the movie:
"Set in Scotland in a rugged and mythical time, "Brave" features Merida, an aspiring archer and impetuous daughter of royalty. Merida makes a reckless choice that unleashes unintended peril and forces her to spring into action to set things right. Determined to make her own path in life, Princess Merida defies a custom that brings chaos to her kingdom. Granted one wish, Merida must rely on her bravery and her archery skills to undo a beastly curse."
I am actually looking forward on seeing this movie. Sounds kinda interesting, and overall movie design and plot looks pretty good. It might just be me though. What do you think?

Indeed I've always wanted to see this movie, i look forward too it actually, what i found most attracting is that i look alot like Merida I have very similiar hair, but its brown and has a bit of blond in it. Plus the fact shes a 'im not a princess' type. very similar to my tomboy country self.

^ Was there a need to quote the post? It's the only other one in the topic.
Anyway, I'm pretty neutral about this one. It seems pretty good, but I'm not sure if I'll end up seeing it. (On a side note, I saw the theatrical trailer for it and instantly recognized the music: "Victory Cup" by X-Ray Dog.

I saw the trailer four times (each before the Avengers when I went to see it in theaters xD), and after seeing it the FIRST time, I KNEW I gotta see this. It looks hilarious, I LOVE the animation (shocking considering my lack of enthusiasm for CGI usually), and the character designs are FANTASTIC (dat horse, I want one).
I'd have to actually see it before adding anything else, but yea. Considering it's a Disney * Pixar, no question it's GOTTA be epic. 8]

Am I the only one who is not interested in this film? I think it looks poor, to be honest. So, this'll be a film I 'buy' through BitTorrent *cough*.

No, you're not the only one. It could be good if the producers pull it off, but I have low expectations for it, tbh.
The only thing that is making me want to watch it is the message 'Dedicated to Steve Jobs' that they'll be adding at the end.
... why would they dedicate a film based in ancient Scotland to the guy in charge of the Apple Store? That doesn't make much sense. xD
Anyway yes, Brave. How badly I want to see that movie, oh my god. Partly because I'm Scottish, and the fact that Billy Connolly is voicing the King (<3) but also because IT LOOKS BEYOND EPIC. It's about time we had another badarse rebellious female Disney character, we've not had one of those since Mulan! The animation is gorgeous, the character design is gorgeous, the music is gorgeous.. ugh just the whole film looks GORGEOUS. And it's about time Scotland got some more recognition in films, rather than just Braveheart and Shrek's voice. I just can't wait for it. <333

Just saw it last night because of a need to kill a couple hours. Pretty good, I must say, but I found it kinda predictable.

When Merida ran into Mordu in that "lost kingdom," I honestly saw that coming about twenty minutes before. But I have to wonder why her mother didn't fall through, since she's heavier than Merida is (even more so in bear form). Speaking of the whole "bear" thing, I found it getting pretty old after a while. I liked how they had her mother switching between a bear's personality and her own spontaneously--that was a nice little twist that I didn't expect. But I found the comic relief to be mediocre at best. It didn't fit in with the emotion of some scenes (i.e., when the ships left), and that witch was just plain annoying.
But the animation and music were simply amazing, and those were two of the things I was looking forward to. Overall 7.5/10

Got my brother this movie as a Christmas present since it was what he wanted and a few days ago I finally sat down to watch it for myself:
Story: In a nutshell it seemed pretty much like standard Disney fare to me almost to the point where it was fairly predictable (I admit I knew some of the synopsis already but a lot of other things weren't that hard to follow). *Some Spoilers*

Witches, spells going wrong, standard Disney montage to music, oh and of course the near death/failure to break the spell, but coming back just in time for the happy ending of course. Not that I have a problem with most of these things it's just been repeated throughout other various Disney movies has it not?
Anyway, it was a little different which was okay with me, kept me entertained for the most part.
Characters: Mixed opinions here, the King and Queen were great, but the main character Merida really didn't impress me much at all. I don't mind feisty spunky type characters when they're done right, but here she just annoyed me. It's not that I don't understand why, but she just wasn't cutting it for me.

I also add knowing her name sounds similar to another word in Italian doesn't help me take her seriously either.
The three boys and the witch made me laugh (and cringe) on a few occasions.
Music: The score wasn't bad, actually seemed pretty right on for the setting the movie was in. The songs didn't feel above average to me though.
Setting/graphics: I can say this was the one thing I really liked about the movie. I mean, visually the movie is top notch and the scenery is gorgeous. I love beautiful country, forests and hills etc. I could go on about it, but I enjoyed looking at it a lot.
Overall I give it a 6.8/10, but I suppose you could round it to 7. Disney already has a lot of princess movies, but this wasn't my least favorite.
This movie was actually really good. I actually didn't expect to enjoy it as much as I did and it actually took me a good while to get myself to even watch it. Glad I did, I'm not usually a big fan of disney cus clearly they've lost their touch in my opinion, but they did good on this one. Its just different in all the good ways. Very refreshing to see it was.
