Now i'm new and have been given my roommates old account here, so please forgive me if this is just my ignorance. However, I'm an equine artist and a spirit fan, i'm only on this site because i am a fan of Spirit and i thoroughly enjoy the music videos, fan art, and fan fictions about spirit. I like the fan images as well but those are my favorite areas. But these area's are hardly updated. Images get updated a lot, but all of the other area's are kind of neglected? Yet i hear from others that all area's of Baltosource, The Lion king Source and some of the other canine sources get updated regularly and on time. I was wondering if the site have the same staff members, and why no one takes to time to update SS which i was told gets updated weekly at minimum. Yet users on that source site say it takes weeks, with an s, before they get updated. I understand that the sites admin are people to and have lives just like us, and that they have a lot of sources to manage, plus user damage control, but does it really take that much time to make sure all the sources stay updated, not just the apparently popular ones?
----Sincerely Bree Raquel

The mods tend to be lazy, and there isn't enough of them, that's the thing. Balto Source is the most active, so that site is the most maintained.

But that's no excuse, any form of site admin shouldn't be lazy, I understand they get tired, but it's a responsibility none the less. As for there not being enough of them, i don't find that as a proper excuse either, they would be enough if they had scheduled time frames of which admins get what done when or how often they would check up. Most of the admin i would assume are of elder ages than most of the users so they know how to manage time. As of Balto Source being the most active, it's besides the point as well, they were put to manage all of the source sites, not just the most active one, after all they'll never know how active the others maybe if they never check up or update them. --- Bree Raquel

Yes, I have noticed this for Spirit Source... I'm not quite sure why they never update the selections of the week. It's rather odd considering that Robin Hood Source and some others aren't nearly as populated and yet they get updated more. I swear those same images have just been changed a looong time ago, replacing a couple that had been there for months. Although what Mighty said is probably true, that some of the mods are lazy, there's also the possibility that not many of them check. After all, steet got rid of all the separate mod staff (though why we still appear on the mods list when he sends MASS pms I'll never know...) so there's only some five or six left. I guess all there is is to be patient.

Waiting a month (as it seems many of the older members have been) is tolerant...which is ridiculous, in my book. ---Bree Raquel

As a mod, I wanna just say that the laziness thing is rather harsh. We, like the regular members on here, do have lives outside of the Internet, and, truth be told, with there being so few us now thanks to a bunch of changes, we are strapped to managing so many sites it's ridiculous. We do the best we can, alright? We're tryin'.

I stated before that I understand that mods are just like normal users "please read full messages next time" and I also stated that there seem to be a small amount of admin. But really Whats the use of an inactive admin? If you take up the responsibly to help run a site, that typically means all of it's sections that you have some control over and are supposed to over seeing, Anytime you are are online. I get that it's just a fansite and that some's mentality might be that since it is just a fansite it's ok to lag, but the life of the other Source sites isn't being given a chance if there are no updates. I mean no one updates the news or the strange little quirky facts said in the news for the other sites, no one keeps tabs on whats going on with those movies, like they've done with the BaltoSource news or Lion King Source news, or even TailSping Srouce (although i can understand this one because i think it was the first source.). Updating the news and telling strange facts there in, and doing all the special treatment Baltosource and the other popular ones get is what brings real fans and more traffic to the sites. This stuff can only be added by admin right? but as of late they've been no where to be found behind the scenes. For some reason no one wants to Admit that some of the Admin just don't feel like doing it, which is ok, but taking more than 2 weeks to update anything is irresponsible. Running a site (and keeping it alive) is part of any level admins job, and that's exactly what it is a job, whether it's volunteer work or for pay. If you slowing down the pace as a strike against the low number of Admin in order to get more, it's only going to hurt the site, even if your not, the lag in updates is already hurting the site.
I'm sorry if it's harsh but in all reality what i am saying is a bit true.

I'd like to point out that mods cannot post fan news anymore: only site info builders. And if you were to look at the dead sites, some of them don't even have info builders. (Which can be easily changed: just ask Steet to add you, and he more than likely will; he just made Blazetail one on Spirit Source a few days ago.) That explains that little part.

That does explain a little, however those sites wouldn't be dead if they had had proper management before they died. Also the rules state not to ask to be an admin/mod which is what an site builder kind of is. asking would be against the rules. Plus though I would love it, I'm not one to take on a responsibly I know would get neglected do to Work and my courses.

Admins and mods aren't builders. They are the ones who activate works and manage them to make sure all is following the rules. Site builders are the one who design the Sources and make sure all the information on the films and series are accurate and good quality.
I've had a range of positions myself throughout the years--indeed, I have held every position except webmaster. During a whole month last summer I was busy modding all the Sources by MYSELF--no help whatsoever. I can guarantee you, it's a lot of work; I worked 12 hours a day on it and it still wasn't long enough. (Which is why I resigned as a mod and became a site builder instead)
And you're right, the site DID have very poor management before they died--because those in charge were trolls. They kept gaining power on the site to the point where they almost totally controlled it. Steet, the webmaster, mass-demodded everyone, leaving only a few he trusted left. The reason there are so few mods is because he doesn't know WHO he can trust. (I agree, him being more active would help in that regard, but c'est la vie.)
I'm not saying this is an illegitament rant; to the contrary, I understand and agree completely. However, it is my opinion that this website is better to have fewer mods, who can get things done and keep the site quality-controlled, than have a TON of mods, who turn into trolls and do all they can to destroy the website.

My point is they still help with the upkeep of the sites.
Also I'm not saying there should be More mods, just that there should be active ones, not the is online for hours kind, but the kind that will check all 15 sites for needed updates, in the weekly time at least.I am also talking about the head webmaster as well, he qualifies as a mod and admin as well. Every admin, mod, site builder or what have you, should check and make sure all sites are updated at least weekly. I don't to much blame the head webmaster because that's the whole reason he hired the other admin. --Bree Raquel

But we only have so much time that we can devote out of our own lives to the sources, and with there being about twice as many sources as there are mods, the amount of time that can be spent always updating and checking things gets smaller and smaller. Now, factor in that some sources(disregarding the forums) such as Balto Source, Spirit Source, and Lion King source get a ton of reports and submissions each day. Assuming that there are none left over from any previous days that were not already gotten to, there can easily be dozens of reports and submissions for art or characters between just those three sites each day. I don't think you're fully aware of how much work actually has to be done when there are so many sources but so few mods and site builders, and that is understandable. But rest assured, that while things are not so simple as you make them out to be, the mods and builders are doing the best they can. And a little patience for them goes a very long way

Actually I believe a lot can be done with such few people, weather it's a lot of work or not, if things are organized. Maybe the mods should get together in a chat room and set up times for each other of when their schedule's let them on, and then set goals for how much of each site they will check in that time. You say patience, the members have been patient for months sometimes at a time, that's not patience at that point but tolerance. It's a job, and typically at a job it doesn't matter how few workers there are, all of the work still needs to get done on time, or else you get fired. There's just no reason (within reason) that any of the sites should go months without an update, and the fact that you all want more source sites and can't update the others on time, is irresponsible as well.Maybe you all should work out a timed schedule, to do lists help greatly and some organization goes an even farther.
