Ian Kirkland and Kat Johnson live in the medieval times. Ian is a royal assassin, and Kat as a cunning trickster. When the king sends Ian on a mission to rid the kingdom of the pesky crook (kat). She tells Ian of a magical dragon and stories of adventure, filling thoughts in his head of wealth and freedom. She is lying, going off of a mythical fair tale her mother used to tell her. But when the dragon turns out to be real, but will the future hold?

The hot summer sun beat down on Kat's tanned, leathery, face. Her crystal blue eyes shimmered as she walked through the town, a satchel secured around her waist, a sheep skin hood covering the majority of her eyes and nose. Passers-by shuffled alongside her, buying goods and trading luxuries. She stepped past a tall man, and in one swift motion, collected all his money in her satchel.

The girl walked quickly over to her tent, a low-roofed 'Game of luck' tent with purple fabric guiding the outside of it. She entered. The inside was dark, but cool, lit by a single candle. Kat sat at a small table, spreading out cards before her and waiting for someone to amble into her shop. It as a game of chance, if played correctly, but Kat cheated regularly. So it was the usual 'game of just give me your money'.

A sweet-faced old man hobbled in, he gave her a warm smile.

"Hello." He said politely.

Lat didn't respond, just waited for him to say his game.

"Poker." He announced, slapping 10 coins on the table.

Kat didn't move. The man huffed and slapped 10 more gold pieces down, still no movement from Kat. He slapped down another 10, and Kat raised an eyes brow.

Within the hour, Kat had won every penny from the man, and he left the tent was dampened spirits and empty pockets.

A tall red-head sat calmly at a large table within the royal dining room, listening to the blur of voices around him. His striking teal eyes flicked from one person to another, tearing them down mentally, figuring them out, memorizing all their weaknesses and ways to harm or injure them. This was what he did, he got in close and tore people apart.

"Kirkland." A thick barotone voice spoke up, making him look up slightly, meeting the eyes of the king. "Do you not wish to eat?" The elder questioned, making Ian pick up his fork.

"Excuse me, your highness," He bit back, earning a glare from the higher rank. He stood abruptly and exited the room, retreating back to his own cell.

Kat finally stretched as the sun sank in the sky, looking out of her small tent and shutting the lace door. She sat in the darkness, the light of the flame licking at her face. He countered her money slowly, smiling at her rations and tucking them back in her satchel. The girl emerged from her tent, only to bump into a royal guard.

"Excuse me.." She muttered, pulling her hood over her head before they could see her oh-so badly wanted face. The guard grabbed her arm, forcing her hood off. Kat wavered as her eyes met his shocked pair, then her fist collided with his jaw and she ran for it. Hiding in the splattered shadows of the evening.

The dazed man ran towards the castle, ready to alert the kingdom that the wildly wanted Kat Johnson was in the area. He burst through the grand doors, about to drop from exhaustion.

"Kat-" The man gagged, choking back his heaving chest and kneeling in front of the table. "Kat Johnson is in the city, downtown...I just saw her, she cant get out of the city until morning, due to the gates... This is our chance sir!" The excited guard chimed.

By this time, Kat was still running, angry with herself for being seen.

Ian heard his cell door open and he watched as a royal guard came in, twirling his keys on his finger.

"Ian. We've another job for you." The man said gruffly, and the assassin grunted, rolling his eyes as he stood.

"About time."

Kat continued to run, until the large gates that lined the city showed themselves. She whimpered and rushed herself at the concrete walls, pressing herself against them. There was no way to scale them, she frowned and slumped her shoulders, sinking to the ground and leaning against the wall. Maybe if she kept quiet...

A familiar little mew stirred her from her panic, she looked up to see a small cat pacing at her feet. Kat new the feline, his name was Jasper. She scooped him up with one hand and cradled him softly, terrified.

Ian was dressed and on the move in a few short minutes, armed with only a knife. That was all he needed however, he was too good of a fighter to even need the knife, but the queen had always insisted. He crept silently along the wall, teal eyes darting back and forth, scanning for any movement what-so-ever.

Kat sat in silence for a few moments, before Jasper's mew stirred her. The grey cat's blue eyes darted to a stalking figure down an alley way. Kat grunted and hugged Jasper tighter, unable to hide a whimper. The girl was only 16, and only stole when she needed to...at first...Then it turned into an addiction, it was her heroin, her high. She couldn't stop the rush, she couldn't control her compulsive behavior. Kat reached into her satchel, grasping a knife, willing to use it if she really needed to.

She stared down the figure, hoping she could turn herself invisible. She focused on the image, first her toes, then her legs..But she lacked all magic, which frustrated her.

Ian locked onto the girl clutching the cat, and approached her calmly, his shoulders completely going lax. He looked simply like a villager, his knife completely hidden.
"Hello." He said, walking up to her.

Kat looked up, her eyes pleading and scared. She eyes the man, a relatively good looking young man, older than her though. While she was 16, he looked around 20. Kat pressed herself a little bit harder against the wall, Jasper mewed curiously at the stranger. Kat's eyes darted away from the man's amd she frowned, her hands trembling in Jaspers soft fur.

"What do you want?" She asked softly, hiding the knife under her legs. But the light of a candle caught it, and set a glare off of it, causing it to be noticeable.

Ian's eyes floated down to the knife, then flicked back up to the girl's face.
"You seem lost." He mused.

Kat's eyes narrowed to slits, "I'm waiting for someone." She said hastily, maybe a little too hastily. She frowned as Jasper mewed his protest and squirmed out of her grasp. The grey feline rubbed himself against Ian's leg and then bounded off.

Ian watched the cat run off and then chuckled.
"Really? This time o' night I don't think anybody'll be comin' for ya' lass." He said with a small smirk. "Why've ya' got that knife then there, if you're only waiting for someone?"

The sound of his eerie laughter sent chills down her spine. Kat tensed, wishing for Jasper to come back, at least she wouldn't be so alone.

"Well...You never know hat creeps you'll see this time of night." She spat, the word directly meant for the man standing in front of her.
