Is it so hard to understand that Balto fansite is meant for Balto-related fan characters? I can understand fursonas, but just because your character is a wolf(or some other sparkle retardation of canis familly) it doesn't mean it belongs here...

Of coarse I support what you're saying fully. If they're not here for Balto, or any other movie, then why are they here? This isn't a social networking site or whatever site, it's a fan site. If they want to make non-Balto related characters so badly, then they can take it to DA.

I agree. Most of the other Sources are FAR better at making their characters related to the Source. (One exception is Spirit Source, and even then, not to the degree of Balto Source) This is one of those "You Wanna Know What Grinds My Gears?" things that people on BS do.

Balto Source just became All-Canine Source...
By the way what's with all Cat's characters she uploaded? I mean the ponies, Pokemon... Sweet. It proves you can add complete ANYTHING to the site.

Cat's characters was a April fools joke.

Anyway, they're still here hich means you can add anything you like to character section...

I can take a picture of Balto, color over it with pink, yellow and purple. I'll name it Fred. I'll say the reason he's these colors is because Nyan cat farted on him, he ate the easter bunny, and his father was Barney the dinosaur.

^^If that kind of character can be accepted into the site, there's obviously a problem.

I don't see how this character that's not even remotely related to Balto (save for that colored over design) should be allowed on BS, or any site for that matter. Though there is enough variety in the sites so that certain fantasy characters would belong there. (How to Train Your Dragon Source as an example).

I'll say this, let's say you plan to write a story, based in the Balto universe, you're using a lot of made up characters, that you're giving the most time to. If almost all of your story is devoted to that, you might as well take the idea and make it an original one. Most people don't want to look in the fansection devoted to Balto and find things that are entirely different. There's a few exceptions, but those are either very well balanced between canon and fancharacters, or just well written to the point that we're drawn into it without worrying too much about the canon cast (I do have one example of a story like this, but it's not source related so I won't post it here).

Yea, back to topic... It's getting annoying... Where the hell are mods? Wait, after Steet's awesome site improvement changes, we don't have any...

Well, when the webmaster doesn't really care for this website, why should the mods? Personally, I think this place is a huge drama fest and the drama is probably the only reason I frequent here. Not because I'm mean or anything but because I can constantly remind myself of what a nice and creative place this was before it became:

1. A hub (god, I hate all of these new sources popping up so much, regardless of whether or not you're a fan of Robin Hood and such. The only thing I would really consider following and keeping alive is ADTGH Source)

2. A DA copy (the thing with DA is that it has LOADS of moderators for each section and an active admin database. AS has none of these things so, quite frankly, babysitting the younger members is only one of the thousands of tasks you have taken on by adding these features).

3. The character database (now I'm getting on topic with this rant, the character database is a joke. It's crawling with Kay Fedewa recolours and generic wolf characters. Honestly, does Alaska even have that many wolves running around? Or even Nome? If I were admin, I would get rid of this database without any question or hesitation. If any members had a problem with it, they could go off to DA or even Nabyn if they had an invitation, which does allow you to put a character into a database). Also, add a td;lr rant about how sparkledogs on this site are a ridiculous idea and anyone who thought so should have some sense punched into them.

The list goes on with me but these are the three main things that bug me with this place at the moment. I miss the place that I joined and met some of my friends when I was 12. I joined an Animals of Farthing Wood fan forum at the same time and that's still going strong despite the website for it going down and the admin that has been on it since 05/06 still maintains it and still cares for it. Talespin Source is fine and all but... Majority of members don't frankly care for it imo.

I agree with Zuko about the mods. The mods themselves are blameless, especially when they have no clear active webmaster to report to or express their own concerns. Steet running TSS is fine and all but the price of running all of these other websites comes with that. If he honestly wants to just focus on TSS, it would be far kinder and more responsible to close these other websites. They're a mess, quite frankly. I used to think the BS website design was beautiful and well organised and now I hate looking at it because it's copy and pasted over and over again for the other websites.

The mods have been doing a good job from my point-of-view and there has been considerably less power struggles and drama since they were changed.
