Technical folks, please help...

Between the original DVD release of Balto, and the Animated Family Favorites version of Balto, are there any differences? The AFF version shares its disc space with An American Tail. Are there any compression artifacts in the AFF version as a result? What English language version, regardless of region, is considered the best in terms of audio/video quality and special features?

Anyway, all DVDs have artifacts because DVDs are in 480p. DVDs can't hold as much information, so their file size, and the resolution, is much smaller; therefore compressing the image. The only disc that can have a artifact free picture is a blu-ray, which uses a 720p(not used anymore I believe) and 1080p resolution.

As for the other part of your question, I don't understand. All the DVDs should be the same quality-wise.

That's precisely what I'm asking: On the Animated Family Favorites version, Balto and An American Tail are on the same disc. It's still a 4.7GB DVD. Theoretically, Balto and An American Tail should both need to be compressed (more) to fit on the same disc.

You should have asked this in another topic, instead of spamming (linking larger images is much better) this one with pictures. Perhaps you could make a topic asking for opinions on which cover is better.
