What would you do if you were Balto or Jenna? Would you do the same things he or she did or would you do something else? Would you make the same decisions as he or she did?

If I were Balto that means Balto wouldn't be a boy. So...If I were Jenna, I would give Steele what he deserves.

Why did I start laughing when I read this? LOL!!! If you mean what I think you mean, the Balto sure wouldn't be too happy about that! (Dirty mind, I know) XD

If I were in either one's shoes, I will admit I would have been sorely tempted to give him far worse than what he got. But seeing as a fight would be ill-advised (we al know how it went when Balto fought him, and Jenna's not built to withstand combat), I'd say they did pretty well.

In regards to each other, from Balto's end I would probably have said something really dumb to her or fumbled over my words - kind of like he did only worse. I'd be the proverbial fool who opened his mouth and removed all doubt. From her end I would think that it might make sense to be a bit more open to conversation, maybe go after him when he walked away from the race, but I don't know all the details. It's apparent that they had interacted in the past on some level, and any history, even platnic, would effect things between them at the time of the movie. So I can't really say what I would do there.

If I was Balto, I would've eaten Boris. Not be such a chump about Jenna and "go make move" because nothing's more boring about a couple that doesn't make decent conversation with each other. If she rejected me, I would've found some other girl more my league (what's up with guys, despite their physical appearance, thinking they have a better chance with a hotter chick? I mean really.) I would've howled back to those wolves and then summon them for help later cuz that's what bros do. I would've "LIGHTBULB" remembered that I'm a friggen ding dang dog and used my nose the first time to track my way home.

If I was Jenna, I would've plainly rejected Balto for being a soft-spoken creeper, trying to make the moves on me through my human girl, and go for a more honest guy, like Star. I also would've gone after the medicine myself since I love Rosie so much, right? I wouldn't have gotten lost and found Steele, since men are too stubborn to ask for directions. I wouldn't have lightly sprained my paw from a bear fight. I mean if I'm gonna fight a bear, I'm gonna get a scar or two or something. No sense in half-doing it. And I would've used my woman powers and easily taken the lead of the team, since I have a good memory of getting back, and not take some weird crazy way back. (I mean, srsly, if I didn't take that ice bridge over the gorge to get to Steele, I sure as sugar don't take that to get back to Nome.)

And if I was Steele, I would've muted Star's yapper so I could concentrate on getting back. Or, here's an idea, have the Musher know where the heck he's going, since he's supposedly the boss, he's supposed to keep track of these things. I would've kicked Balto's butt and torn him to shreds or thrown him off the cliff, and THEN use his idea to get back to Nome, cuz I obviously can get back to Nome faster than he can, lost or not. If that didn't work out, I'd at least come up with a better lie than "everyone died and I brought the medicine back to Nome". Something more along the lines of "Balto led a mutiny against me and contaminated the medicine with some wolf-dog disease".

Well I can certainly understand why these two characters did what they did in Balto 1.

Balto, in my opinion, fought the good fight in not defeating his enemies through physical strength or greater intelligence, but simply by showing greater concern and perseverance. He just plain wouldn't give up, and others (most notably Steele) simply coiled under the pressure. Steele's indifference of pretty much everything was his own downfall, as in the end his desperate pleas for attention become ignored by all the sled dogs.
Balto also took great initiative in throwing himself into situations, which again I think is a good thing for a hero to do. He inserts himself into the equation, and by doing so he does no harm to other characters of protagonist alignment (I say it that way because he obviously affected Steele in a negative way).
So I guess if I were Balto I would have done everything the same ^^;

Jenna knows very well in the film that there are two males attracted to her, and she takes full advantage of that situation. She teases Steele in the boiler room scene in order to escape with Balto, and she also leads Balto on a bit by running off, using Rosie almost as an excuse to not stay with the wolfdog for extended periods of time (I know that she's not in control of that, but it seems that way as a plot device).
If I were Jenna I guess I would have just expressed my feelings a bit more, not to Balto or Steele directly but just to state them at some point. I say that because in the end it just seems like Jenna falls for Balto because he saved her owner, and other than glances and some suggestive physical contact in the film we don't hear her say anything related to affection or love towards Balto. Just to hear that in the film would have been nice I think.

That's just my opinion on things.

I don't think Jenna was leading Balto on. Remember, she looked for him after he disappeared. If anyone was taking an opportunity to bolt, it was Balto, no doubt because of cold feet (no snow jokes, please). I should know; I did the same thing once, and I still feel kind of dumb for it.

As for Jenna stating her feelings, yeah, she could have stood to be a little less tactful with Steele. If I were in her place, I would have really put him in his place, as publicly as possible at that. When it comes to Balto, though, I think she was right to keep quiet. If he needed her to initiate every topic, every conversation, one might well question just what kind of mate, and ultimately what kind of father, he would be. Just look at the trouble that came about in Wolf Quest from him not telling Aleu the truth about herself until it couldn't be put off any longer. Aleu almost got killed, and the father-daughter relationship was temporarily but quite painfully ruptured. Not to mention that Jenna never got to say goodbye.

Long story short, and I do realize this is a controversial view, I think it's good for any guy to initiate a relationship rather than following along.

Well put. This think if I were Balto I'd do the same thing. Other than that, I'd do everything that the movie already made Balto do
