(first time I've ever posted a topic, please if I made it in the wrong category or am doing something wrong, forgive me.)

I read a post a while ago about tips for making a good character. Some of the tips I agreed with, others I didn't. So here are my tips to 'how to. . '

1: When making a character, pick the design carefully. Take your time while designing! It's the number one rule in my book! You should NOT be able to make up a good design within a span of 5 minutes. With myself, it takes several weeks to design a char.

2: Choose colors wisely. The BASE color of a character should ALWAYS be a natural color, no exceptions. From there add other colors. BUT be sure to pick colors that work well together.
- If you are making a sparkle dog, make sure that the unnatural do not over power the base color.

3: accessories They are optional. You do NOT need them to make a good character. But if you add them, again, make sure they work well with the colors and design.
- If you are making a sparkle dog, do NOT add a million accessories. ( I admit, my 'sona has alot) When giving your character piercings, do not give it 7 rings in one ear and 7 in the other. At most, I say, give it 3 in each. (and that's still a bit much)

4: Give him/her a detailed Bio: As with the same with designing, TAKE YOUR TIME! It should not take you only 5 minutes. And it should be at least 4 good paragraphs. (that's still a poor bio, but it's better then 2 lines)

5: Puppies/Mates: These are optional. My advice, wait to give your character pups/mates. And when you do decide to do so. Don't let a random person design one for you. Make it yourself. Or let one of your CLOSEST friends make it. NEVER! let a complete stranger that decided to leave a comment/PM asking, make it. Even though it was kind of them to ask, still turn down there offer and make one yourself.

6: Get attached: When making a character, get attached to him/her. Don't make one just for the fun of it. Actually make it for a meaning. A character should be special to you, it's something no one else has. (or at least no one should have it. Otherwise it would be copying/stealing) Which this leads to my next tip . . .

7: DON'T MAKE A MILLION CHARACTERS!!: You only have enough love/time for a limited number of characters! You should only keep around 5, 10 at the most! (it bugs me when I see some people with over 50 character. How could they possible use them all on a regular basis?)

8: DO NOT! COPY/STEAL CHARACTERS!: 'nuff said there.

Well I hope my tips help you ^-^

(I'll probably edit in more tomorrow)

Thank You guys for reading!!
