What are some of your guys' views on me eventually beginning a animation studio and/or a home recording studio?

Animation Studio - I call it DRA (Dogs Rule Animation). A studio that uses CGI technology and no storyboards. It would be headquartered in San Francisco or Los Angeles. It would be used to develop animated movies, shows, and video games.

Just something interesting I thought of to get away for a bit from the Balto talk.

It's kinda hard to answer your first question since we don't know you or your background on the matter. Are you in collage, or are you just thinking up an idea?

No storyboards? Sorry, but that sounds kind of backwards to me. In order for ANYTHING to be good you need to plan it out, which is the purpose of storyboards. Unless I misunderstood that. But I would think just jumping in on a project without planning is going to result in a bad profit and give your company a bad reputation for bad quality products.

Also, I think the name of your studio is a bit un-original. If you want to have a professional studio, you should call it something other than "Dogs rule animation."

You asked for our opinions, so don't go gettin' angry at me.

No worries.

As for the storyboards, everything that would be made by the DRA would be CGI, no hand-drawing at all. Instead of hundreds of still black and white images, it would be developed off of a thorough description of what is to be made for the animators (shape of character, color, background, etc). So basically its starting from scratch.
