So guys, I'm going to try and make this an annual thread giving you all a little taste of my favorite releases from the previous year, 2011, Oman, this was an AMAZING year if you are either a Metal or Proghead. And this list will be a chronicle of my favorite releases in 2011. I'll post 5 to 10 new songs in it every night for the next full week making up my year in music for 2011. Tonight start below with:

1. Hymn of A Broken Man - Times Of Grace. The best way I can think to describe this album/band is like the old Killswitch fused with the new Killswitch, with the addition of vocalist Jesse Leach, This album really is the NEW Old Killswitch Engage album never made and one of the best debut albums I have EVER heard. I will be sharing the title track from this one as it to me speaks volumes to me about what ToG is as a band.

2. Caustic Are The Ties That Bind - Trivium. Boy, Wow. where do I begin to describe this song or this album other it is the answer to Ascendancy that Trivium fans have wanted for YEARS, Brutal, Progtastic, Melodic and Chilled out all rolled into one. And also my favorite drum perfomance on the In Waves album by Drummer Nick Augusto.

3. April - Tesseract. This band, is something Progressive Metal fans have waited for, for a long long time, a perfect mix of brutality, power and passion, these guys are sure to be at the forefront of the genre very very soon!

4. Let It Rain - Redemption. The best "Mellow" Progressive Metal song of 2011 and one the best of the year period, Nick Van Dyk and Ray Alder deliver the goods again with a monster of a followup to the ever amazing Snowfall on Judgement Day from 2009, This Mortal Coil is a must have album for ANY Proghead.

5. Leveler - August Burns Red. What can be said about ABR that hasnt already. this HUGE band in the American Metal and Hardcore scene can seem to do no wrong and Leveler is no different than any other ABR release, powerful, totally inspirational and brutal as hell. Leveler is the perfect followup to the legendary Constellations.

Stick around for more great music from 2011 next week! see you soon!

I can't say I've heard any of the other songs, but I LOVE ABR's Leveler album. I bought it pretty much the day after I found out about it. Couldn't get Constellations though.
