So a lot of my real life and online friends own the game Pokemon FireRed version (GBA / DS) and often I find that when they are stuck on something they come to me for help since I'm pretty much addicted to that game and know a lot about it. I created this topic to help you all... These are some of the questions I was asked, and how I answered them;

I often hear about "Type Match-Ups" ... What are Type Match-Ups?
Answer: Type Match-Ups are basically what moves match up with which pokemon. Say for example, you had a fire type and the foe had a water type. The water type could easily beat your fire type, because water type moves are super-effective against fire type pokemon. But if you had a grass type, then you could easily beat the water type because grass type moves are super effective against water type pokemon.
If you want to know more about Match-Ups, please feel free to send me a private message.

How can I breed a Snorlax to get a Munchlax?
Answer: You can't. Simple as that. Munchlax was a pokemon created AFTER the first generation pokemon were created; therefore you cannot get Munchlax in FireRed.

At what level does Mankey evolve? I have one, and it’s a level 20 and it STILL hasn’t evolved!
Answer: Your Mankey will evolve into a Primeape at level 28. Primeape does not evolve, so your Mankey only has one evolution. Keep training hard; verse some rock types or normal types.

Who is the third gym leader and where are they? How do I get to them?
Answer: The third Gym Leader is LT. Surge. He is a user of Electric types, so you might want to catch a ground type (Like Diglett, in Diglett Cave). In order to get to him you first need to beat all six trainers at Nugget Bridge, then go out to the cape and help Bill turn back into a human. Speak to him and get the S.S. Anne ticket. Next go to the house with the policeman standing out the front, go into the house and out the back door. Keep going down, and be careful not to jump over the fence. When you go all the way down you’ll see the entrance to an underground tunnel (it’s a small building that looks like a house with a sign out the front) go through the tunnel. Once you’re out you’ll find that you’re in a grassy area with a few trainers. Battle them all if you want, but really it’s only necessary to battle two if you can avoid all the rest. Go on to Viridian City and heal up your pokemon at the pokemon centre. Next go down to the PokeMart and buy some super potions, and then go to the port. Show your ticket to the sailor and then board the S.S. Anne. Look around until you find Gary and battle him. If you win, you can go on to the captain’s room. Go in and interact with the captain, he’ll give you HM Cut. Teach Cut to a pokemon of your choice, then get off the ship. After the ship leaves go to the far left corner of Viridian City, where you’ll find the gym. There will be a small tree there, use Cut on the tree. Be sure to save your game, and there you have it! You will have reached Viridian City, found HM Cut and found the Gym Leader. Just be careful of LT. Surge… His power is shocking ;3 Lol… Try training a Diglett for a little bit before battling, and teach TM Rock Tomb to one of your pokemon.

What is the best Starter pokemon to have?
Answer: They’re all great pokemon to have actually. It doesn’t matter which one you choose.

Bulbasaur: Easy to raise and level up, also gets friendly rather quickly and friendly pokemon listen to you and work harder in battle. It’s a grass type, so your rival is going to choose a fire type. Don’t worry, just catch a strong water type like Gyrados and that should help you beat them when they’re the champion later on.

Squirtle: Again, easy to raise and level up and is quite energetic, meaning your pokemon’s stats will be pretty evened out and fairly good. Squirtle is a water type pokemon, so your rival is going to choose a grass type. Don’t worry, catch a Pidgey and train it to a Pigeot and that should help you beat them when they’re the champion later on. Either that, or catch an ice type like Dewgong or Golduck.

Charmander: You’ll need to be patient with this pokemon. They’re strong and quick, but they take longer to level up than Bulbasaur and Squirtle. It’s a good pokemon to have, because its speed, attack and sp. def stats are pretty good. This pokemon is a fire type, so your rival is going to choose a water type. Don’t worry, just catch a strong electric type like Electabuzz and that should help you beat them when they’re the champion later on.

More questions to come later...
