I actually recently went over his story again and found that I was more on his side than Mufasa's. Granted, when it comes to Scar and Simba, I'd probably go for Simba, but I do feel a lot of sympathy for Taka/Scar. I can relate to him in the fact that he felt like an outsider, and that probably contributes to it also.

i don't blame scar for being evil. his father mistreated him , and it seemed like ahandi only cared for mufasa.

I do in some ways feel sorry for Taka/Scar too. Mufasa did get everything but we shouldnt blame Mufasa it was their fathers fault that it went this way. I get the feeling that poor Taka in the begining lead a depressing lonely unloved life and he just turned to who ever would except him and that had to unfortunaly be hyenas and a very darkside of life. I think Taka's story leaves a legacy which can be learned from I mean that no one should ever be made to feel an outsider for any reason because at the ened of the day we are all equal!!

well, actually, we don't know if Ahadi purposefully favoured Mufasa over Taka, it could have just been because Taka was jealous. After all, the book where we get the name Taka and Ahadi from sort of supports this theory.
But I think it's mean to make Taka look like a jealous jerk from an earlier age, as he must've been good at some point. Sometimes I do feel sorry for him.

Though I do feel sympathy for Taka, I still believe it's wrong to murder just to get what he wants. My morals will always be that way, regardless of how anyone was raised. Murder is wrong, period. Even worse that he chose to neglect his pride after he got what he wanted.

Agreed, Paxis. So he had Daddy-issues. Okay. I see why he would be upset. But just because you felt you weren't the favorite child doesn't mean you should throw your big brother off a cliff to be trampled by huge, hooved animals and send your dogs to maul a small child to death, after making him believe it's HIS FAULT his father's dead. Don't you dare try to justify him for that. That's what happened. I hope he doesn't sound so nice now.

First, what people are saying about "If Ahadi had picked Taka as king, he wouldn't be evil" Thats a load of rubbish- it has been tradition in human royalty (in Lion King, it's the same) for hundreds, if not, thousands of years that the eldest boy becomes next ruler. And Scar clearly states that Mufasa is his elder brother. That caused Taka to have jealousy, and it his own nature that caused him to hate, and if you want to put it this way, become evil, again- it's his nature. Not every younger prince grows a strong hate for their elder brother because they're to be king.

Next. What you are saying is indicating that Ahadi gave Taka his Scar. This is a completely fan made theory and there is no truth in it at all. It. Was. Made. Up. As. A. Theory. The official theory in the books, is that Scar in an attempt to humiliate Mufasa, recieved his scar from a raging wilderbeast. You can have all the theories you want but you appear to be stating them as fact, which i'm afraid they're not.

However, back on topic. I do love Scar, and he is one of my favourite characters, but is quite obviously bad-natured, dramatic and takes things too seriously and over the top. He is not evil though, as we can know we are doing wrong but never evil, so it is not delibarate- I believe so called "evil" has a level of innocence in a strange way.

oh, and to add to what I've said, even if Ahadi had given Taka his scar (This will remain a fan theory forever, and always will be) that doesn't give him an excuse to kill his brother or his innocent nephew. If you had daddy issues, sure, kill your dad, but the rest was really just a want for the throne.
Either way he's not plain evil. No one is XD

But Scar did know what he was doing, lionsoul. These lyrics to 'Be Prepared' tell me that much:
"an injustice deliciously squared... Be prepared for the murkeous scam..." he knew he was doing wrong if he was talking about denying what he did, doin injustice, so on.

I have to say, I know what it's like to be on his side. Outcast position is sad and lonely. Of course, he was never evil to begin with. He was just neglected, and he hung out with the wrong crowd.
