Should be under Balto 3, but...

I don't know if it's more of a mama's boy, or if he's just wishy washy about everything not directly related to dog sledding.

Correct. I've moved it, but next time you see something like this, it's okay to report it to be moved.

On topic... No. I don't think he's a "mommy's boy". :|

What a weird question...! However, I can understand why one would think this way about Kodi, as most of the time we see him close to Jenna, hanging out by her side when Balto's not around... even with her affectionately licking him as if he were still a pup. It's odd how his sledmates haven't seen this and thought that there was... um, something else going on.

But that's beyond the point. And rather uncomfortable to think about actually.

BUT... I believe that he really isn't a "Mama's Boy", no matter how much their actions prove otherwise. Kodi is still young [though 3 is a bit old to be still attached to his parents, but this is a family movie, so...] and with Nome being a small-enough town that he was probably going to see both of his parents often, it's bound to be I agree with HMXTaylorLee on this one, as Kodi does have a lot of that dog-sledding blood in him but he's still learning about everything else that life has to offer: winning, losing, peer pressure and learning about how a life is a life, whether friend or enemy. I suppose Jenna knows that sled dogs are quite obsessed about the sport they are bred for and knows that sometimes some lessons have to be learned the hard way... and we can see that he did learn [and at just the right time too!].

Also, he's quite drawn to his dad's side too, thanks to how they bonded when he was a pup in need of encouragement. Also again... they had the obvious dog-sledding connection too, but that's not the issue here. It's not weird for a kid to be around his parents so much, is it? [well, as long as it's not in a disturbing manner...] I mean, maybe Aleu wasn't into it... but Kodi's definitely not Aleu [thank goodness?].

Where in the movie did you see these events happen? I only saw Kodi with his mother three times in the whole movie and he didn't even do any actions that a mama's boy would normally do. Whenever I saw Kodi in the movie, he was either hanging out with his sledmates or talking with his dad.

As I said above, I didn't see any actions or indications that would label Kodi as a "mama's boy." Yea, he doesn't go to help Balto until after Jenna talks to him about it, but he went because he felt guilty about not originally going with him and because he was worried about him. Not because he wanted to cheer Jenna up.

My answer is a definite no on this question!

I too am confused by these references.

I also think it's important to consider what's normal and healthy in terms of relating to one's parents, and how the perception of being a "Momma's boy" compares. For example, I live with my mom because, in our present financial condition, we can't get by independently. We pool our paychecks in order to keep up with rent and other expenses, and hopefully to get both of us into a position where we can make more. I often use her as a sounding board for stories and ideas because she has a knack for picking up on things I would miss, and because she likes to hear my material. And I look for ways to help her out beyond finances, like doing the dishes and helping with laundry, because let's face it: if a woman goes through labor for you and foots much of the bill for getting you through to adulthood, it's the least you can do to return a few favors. Besides, they say that the way a man treats his mother reflects on how he can be expected to treat a wife, and when God brings Ms. Right along I want to be the kind of man she'll deserve.

So yes. I live with my mom, I consult my mom regularly, and I look for ways to please her, even doing domestic chores as needed. Do these make me a Momma's boy? Maybe. But they're perfectly right and healthy under the circumstances.

Also, I agree with Juuchan that it's normal and healthy for a kid, even an adult, to want to spend time with their parents. Heck, I think a lot of society's problems are tied to a detechment between generations. After all, it was that bond with Balto that made a decent dog out of Kodi in every known step of his life. Balto provided inspiration, gave him confidence, and had the guts to set him straight when he was in the wrong (as did Jenna). Who in their right mind wouldn't want that?

Agreed with Dragon Tamer.

I felt sorry for the kids when I went to school and listened to them say "I hate my mother, she's such a female dog" and the like. Because of stupid, petty things. I'm sure it was hyperbole, but how could you hate someone who loved you unconditionally and essentially supported you for your entire life (assuming most of the people were around 16-18)?

For the past twenty years, it's just been me and my mother after my father left us when I was less than a year old. My circumstances might be different than others, but I love my mother and respect her wishes. I'm very grateful for the sacrifices she made out of her love for me. Might I be a mama's boy? Probably. But I wouldn't have had it any other way!

I don't think Kodi is a mama's pup. They all live in the relatively small town of Nome, Alaska, so frequent contact is unavoidable. If anything, he's a daddy's boy, as he seems to look up to Balto an awful lot.

Here you go; I hope this helps. [from my personal screenshots]

At the beginning of the film, after the mail team is unhooked and Kodi meets with Balto and Jenna. Watch the scene for yourself and you'll see her actions. It looks like either nuzzling or licking to me, but usually a dog his age [or younger - it depends on the animated movie you're talking about] would be... oh, I dunno, embarrassed about a sudden grooming from his mom [especially when your sledmates are right THERE in the same shot. Yeah, he's still new and young, but that's still something that is majorly considered as something worth teasing or gossiping about.].

TWO:

The last scene at the cliff. Innocent, yes... but it just feels odd to me. Yeah, sure... they're just hanging out while Balto's on the plane with Duke, right? One would think that Kodi would be with his team or something, but oh well. Maybe he likes chilling out with his mom after that little adventure [and realization about his sledding job] he had? *shrug*

Any other scenes with the two of them together and talking to each other didn't seem to have any real evidence of "Mama's boy" stuff [though I think the full name-calling that Jenna had for Kodi after Balto went off to find Duke may count? Then again, this could just be a typical parental thing; I wouldn't know as I'm not a parent.].

And personally, I don't see anything wrong with anyone being a "Mama's boy/girl" or a "Daddy's boy/girl"... I'm proud to say I'm a "Mama's girl", so meh. Maybe it just looks weird because they're personified pooches? I dunno. Search me.

Juuchan --> I honestly think you're reading too much into it.

I'm sure that I am, DT, but we all tend to do that exact same thing with certain things in the Balto series... even if we don't mean to or if it's something small. Remember the stuff about "Dusty is a wolf/Aleu-clone/something else awesome" or things about implied pairings in the series? It's all because someone thought about it and they too read into it, whether it's true or not. Mostly not in some cases, but it's fun to make theories and stuff.

This topic is basically the exact same thing, and I was just giving my two cents. Don't get your panties in a bunch about it, ok?
