Plot: In the cruel realm of the human world, death isn't really a new concept. Korey and Seth become subject to the same inevitable fate while on a simple family trip. When their bus careens out of control, they are the only two who die upon impact. Now, the two best friends in life are stuck inside a new realm. Strange things are around here. Everywhere around them are screams of terror and pale white faces, but it doesn't take long for them to figure out where they've been sent to. They are in the spirit realm and they've died and become spirits themselves. But there is hope. A chink in the realm is opened once every thousand years and it just turns out by a stroke of luck that they've timed their deaths just right. Now that they are back in the real world, the goodness of their hearts has just barely managed to keep them human... but not wholly. A part of them remains a spirit as that cannot be changed, and the rest of the evil spirits they encountered are eager to leave the darkness of the spirit realm. Will they be able to stop the spirits and close the hole or will they lose themselves to the evil that encompasses them?

*tap* *tap* *tap* Drowsy and bored, Korey tapped the glass of the bus window. The pane rattled with each contact of his index finger as scenery of rolling hills, late summer trees, and houses passed. He yawned and let his forehead fall against the window. In order to go on their multiple family trip, he had to wake up early. Really early. Before the sun was even up early. "I hate mornings..." he grumbled. The movement of the bus wasn't helping him fall back to sleep either. His parents asleep in the seat beside him, he wondered how his buddy, Seth, was doing in the seat behind him... was he more successful than himself at going back to sleep?

Seth was having trouble seeing how he could possibly sleep, just like his friend Korey. "Hey, Kor?" He asked, leaning forward and tapping his friend's shoulder. "Do you have any idea how much longer?" Seth was beginning to get bored out of his mind and was even a bit regretful of deciding to go on this vacation anyways. Who needed to go camping when there was plenty of fun to be had back at home? He'd have to deal with it now, though. They'd already traveled pretty far. He hated mornings as well, and both of his parents or anyone who knew him well knew that too. It'd take a miracle to wake him early without difficulty. Being bored didn't help, and Seth wanted to find something to do, but honestly, what can you do on a bus full of sleeping family members but wish it would get to the destination already?

Knowing his friend's sleeping habit (being so similar to his own), Korey was probably a little more startled than he should've been. The timing of Seth talking towards him right as he wondered if his friend was still awake must has been the major factor in the reason why he needed to tell himself not to jump out his seat. "Huh? Oh. Umm..." Korey looked at his watch then out then window. "We've already been traveling for about an hour... judging by the number of buildings outside and considering we need to be fairly deep in woodlands to make camp, probably a few hours to yet." Inside he groaned and wished he were still in bed.

Seth listened carefully to his friend's words and sighed aloud when he was finished. "The sad thing is that you're probably right. Tell me again why we couldn't just take a plan out to Yellowstone or something?" He chuckled a bit, settling against his seat. He leaned his back so that it arched in a curve, matching to the shape of the cushions. He sincerely hoped that it would be an hour or maybe even two. Any more than that and he was doomed to unending boredom. He looked towards his family who were sleeping soundly and wished he could be one of them. His mother was against the window, resting on her own right hand. His father was simply sitting straight up with his eyes closes and his hands tucked in front of him so they had no where to go. Seth put his face against the window in a last ditch attempt to head to the land of unconsciousness, but it was useless. The vibrating of the bus made it impossible, so he brought his face up and took to viewing the scenery instead.

Korey remembered back to when his dad announced where they were going and quoted him word for word, "What better place for camping? It's beautiful and a very historical area, great for young minds." Korey liked trees, forests, animals, whatever... but he did not like long car rides.

He gazed out the window again. Finding the scenery way more exciting than the going ons inside the bus. Houses were getting slightly more uncommon to see among the trees, but he had a feeling they still weren't even close to their destination. "Know what the worst part is?" He asked loud enough for Seth to hear but didn't wait for him to reply, "We don't even get up to move around. Haven't even been on the road all that long and it feels like forever."

Seth couldn't contain a wide smile from escaping his lips. "I can't wait for the trip, I just hate the car ride you know? But I'm sure you probably knew that," he said, judging from Korey's obvious lack of entertainment. He took a moment to listen to Korey's next statement, and took another to think of how to respond. "Well, we could if we wanted to," He said smirking. "After all, we are on a bus right? It's not like we're cramped on a van..." He stood up suddenly, using his sturdy hands to right himself on the chair. He bounced of the seat swiftly, grinning as he landed with ease. "C'mon, bud! Let's stretch our legs." With that, he began walking past the rows of unused chairs in the bus. The only ones in it were him and his family, Korey and his family, and the bus driver who seemed to be paying them no attention. This was the perfect time to get reckless. Or was it?

"Well y-yea, but-" Korey didn't get to even finish as Seth got up. Looking at his mother asleep beside him, he wondered if he could even get out. ...or if he really SHOULD. He was always a bit hesitant when it came to the rules. Signs on the bus read to stay seated while the bus was moving. However the temptation to stretch his legs over ruled his yern to obey the fading signs. He sighed, "Okay..." and then placing a hand on the top of the back of his seat and the other hand on the seat in front of him, he swung easily over his mother. The jump over was easy, but he misjudged his landing slightly. He gasped in fright as he almost landed in his fathers lap, asleep across the isle of the bus by his mom. With a breath of relief he quietly followed his friend to the back of the bus, unaware that the bus driver wasn't paying attention to them, for he was fighting sleep.

Seth's grin only widened as he witnessed Korey jump over the seat. He lost it for a split second in the moment it took Korey to barely miss waking up his dad. He almost gasped himself but somehow managed to stifle it. He sighed quietly with relief as he realized that Korey's father was still sound asleep. "Gotta be more careful man," He whispered jokingly, and as Korey made his way towards him, he patted his back and went towards the back of the bus. As he arrived there, he took his place on the chair closest to the back window, standing on top of it as if he were king of the world.

"Boy does that feel nice..." he mused, enjoying the freedom his legs had at the moment. It was a blessing compared to the cramped quarters provided by the seats more towards the front. He proceeded to sit on top of the seat, but rather on top of the part you rest your back on. From there he kicked his feet up to reach the seat in front of him and had made himself a whole footrest in less than five minutes. It took another minute or so for him to realize he was tilting. His eyes widened noticeably as he quickly slid down to the designated sitting area and felt the wall of the bus closest to him.

"Okay, maybe I'm crazy, but is it just me or is the bus swerving?" He looked outside the window and sure enough, a huge van was crossing their path. The driver had to be drunk or blind or something not to see the bus they were in ahead of him, and he was driving right in their lane... in the wrong direction. "This cannot be good..." Seth said, not helping, but trying to calm himself down. The bus swerved again, striking Seth against the wall of it with a forceful thud. He barely had time to cry out in pain before the back end began turning the wrong direction.

Korey followed quietly, unaware of his friend's comment about being more careful and instead assumed he didn't see him almost fall at all. The row of seats in the back of the bus opened more space and seemed to beckon to him. In his eagerness, he over shot a jump to the furthest one back, and ended up sliding to the seat second furthest. "Oh well." He mused. "As long as there's more space and a window, I'm good." He barely got a glance out the window before the bus stared to sway very unpleasantly.

Next thing he knew, his best friend went flying with a painful looking thud to the floor. He wanted to move. To help Seth. To yell at the insane bus driver. But the bus swerved again, and sent himself flying. Right next to his friend. With a cry of pain and shock, he shut his eyes tight hoping it'd soon be over. But as their parents awoke from the ride, none of them had the power to staighten the bus in time. Not the two boys. Not the startled adults. Not the once drowsy, now wide awake bus driver. Korey opened his eyes as he realized his possible last thought was a wish he was still in bed, as the headlights from a large vehicle grew bigger and blinded him first in a brilliant white, then a cold black.

Seth finally noticed his friend as he too fell back with a sickening crash. Seth desperately wanted to cry out for aid, seek help from his parents, but there was nothing that could be done. When he needed his voice the most, it was lost to the wind. He desperately tried to regain it, but just before a cry of help left his lips, the bus crashed against something hard, transitioning Seth's vision to a blank white. It wasn't long before that white turned to black, and what seemed like hours later landed Seth in a strange new world.

Everywhere he turned, there were doors floating in mid-air. He heard a whale somewhere nearby and snapped his neck to see what the source was but saw nothing. As he flicked his head back, he noticed his best friend Korey next to him. Phew. At least he was still there. A feeling of relief washed over Seth until he saw a flash of black in his vision. It wouldn't seem to go away and it wasn't until a few moments later when he began to realize the usual blonde flicks of hair were no longer what partially covered his right eye. Instead, it was black which meant... Seth pulled a strand of hair out, examining the black follicles. What the...? Why all of a sudden was his hair pitch black? Now that he thought about it... He turned to his friend Korey and gasped in horror. His best friend no longer looked himself. His hair was a pale blonde-white in color, and his face looked drained of all life. Somewhere in the back of his mind, Seth wondered if he looked that dead too.

Korey gasped as if he'd just been under water too long. Then after observing his surroundings, shook his head furiously. "What the-?" Doors. Just... doors. Floating aimlessly above, below, beside... everywhere... he wondered where all they could lead. Different times? Places? Both? Strange noises drifted around him, probably coming from those mysterious doors. Trying to follow the sounds, he turned around enough to see that Seth was there too. ...or at least he thought that was Seth... The face of his friend looked back at him with different color eyes, and hair that was the opposite color of blond it once had been. He also couldn't tell if his face was also pale now, or if the dark strands of hair framing his face just made his skin appear lighter. Then again he still wasn't even sure if this was his friend at all... "Seth? That's you right?"

Uncertainty shook in his voice, with a hidden hope it was him. ...but at that thought he felt guilt. For he was sure they were dead. That fact alone was hard enough to swallow, yet on top of that they were surrounded in a place so strange. Yet if Korey's hair hadn't been so short so he couldn't see it as his friend could, he would've noticed that he too had become strange, as his new unknown ice-blue eyes searched his friend for an answer.

Seth nodded, deciding that this was most likely indeed his friend Korey. Just to make sure, though, he asked simply, "Korey?" A quick check around him indicated that this wasn't a nightmare. Seth had been hoping at first that the duo had simply been flown off to dreamland. That perhaps while they had been joking around and stretching their muscles, that initial swerve on the bus had knocked them out and sent them to sleep for a while. He had sincerely hoped... but now he wasn't so sure. When you're unconscious, all you see is black. Seth knew that because he'd once fell off his bike close to home and woke not knowing what happened. His parents had called it a blackout. This definitely wasn't a blackout, and just that fact alone scared him to the marrow of his insides. "Korey... are we dead?" He asked the inevitable question.

"Yeah... at least I think so. I feel like me, but-" He looked around at the strange sights and listened once more to the strange sounds "I wouldn't doubt anything at this point... and at this point... I'd believe we're dead. Nothing else would make sense. We both wouldn't happen to be dreaming at the same time would we? I mean, is that even possible?" He was at a loss for explanations. Being dead made sense.

OOC: *Ugh* That post sucked...

Seth shook his head. "No, I don't even think that's possible with telepathic twins." He gave a shaky laugh and looked around him again. Another whale came from somewhere nearby. This place was giving him the creeps. It may have been just because of the shock he was dead, but Seth began shaking visibly. "Should we see where that came from?" He said, pointing to the direction where he believed the voice to have come from. "Maybe whoever we find can tell us exactly where we are. Cause I don't know about you, but this sure doesn't look like heaven or hell."
