After Discord's downfall, peace and harmony has returned to Equestria, and the six friends are back to their normal and peaceful lives. That is until Rarity and Spike dig up a mysterious, ancient crystal. A simple arguement activates the crystal, releasing an ancient evil from his 1000 year slumber.

His name is Ruin, the embodiment of hatred. After realizing the group are the new weilders of the Elements Of Harmony, he decides to do away with them to destroy the threat so he can conquer Equestria and rule it with an iron hoof. After barely escaping with their lives, the group will be hurled into a fight for their lives, as Ruin punishes those they care about most in an attempt to destroy them.

Twilight looked at the book in front of her, writing away at something using her telekinesis to move the pen carefully. She'd normally let Spike write for her, but this was something she prefered to do herself...the book she was writing was rather...special.

Rarity came in after knocking. "Twilight, hello," she said, looking over to her friend.

"Oh, hello Rarity, it's good to see you," said Twilight, smiling to her friend.

Rarity smiled as she walked over. "I am too, after that whole terrible mess with Discord, I am glad to have a return to normalacy..." she stated, shivering lightly at the memories. "I require Spike's assistence to find some more gems. Unfortunately, during that...little...thing Discord put me through somehow convinced me my gems I already had were rocks and I threw them out," she said, not liking to talk about it. "I really need to find some more gems to replace those."

Twilight nodded, respecting her friends desire not to talk about what Discord had done to her. Even though they'd all been under Discord's power, Rarity was most ashamed of it. "Of course, Rarity. Spike! Rarity needs you!" she called, knowing the little dragon's crush would have him running.

Fluttershy was busying herself rebuilding some of her animal shelters with Applejack's help. "Thank you so much for the help, Applejack," she said softly, placing a birdhouse up in a tree. She came back down, looking to her friend, then looking nervious. "...I feel so...nasty that I acted that way...I know Discord brainwashed me...but I can't believe I scared off some of my animal friends like I did..." she stated, guilt clear in the shy Pegasus' face.

OOC: I like to think that there are still some mental scars from what Discord put them through.

At the moment, Spike had been stacking some books away that Twilight had asked him to. He reached for the top shelf, and when Twilight called that Rarity needed him, she dropped the book and hurried downstairs as quickly as his tiny dragon legs could. "I'm here, m'lady-" he was cut off from him tripping on a stair and falling down the last few, landing before Rarity and Twilight's feet. He jumped up immediately. "How may I be of service?" he asked in a salute.

Applejack had just loaded the last few stones and sticks that were in the way of building some animals shelters for Fluttershy. "Ain't no problem, Fluttershy, glad to help. After that whole Discord thang..." she shook her head, ridding herself of the memories as she pulled her small cart along, loading one more rock into it before hauling it away.

Rarity gave a smile smile. "Spike, I need your help to harvest some gems. During that embarassing...Discord incident, I kind of threw away all of my gems..." she explained, once more showing embarassment at her behavior. "I don't like going out there alone and you're a far better digger than me. I'll give you some gems, as always," she stated, then looked to Twilight's book. "What are you writing, Twilight?"

Twilight jumpped slightly. "Oh, this...it's just a book...I don't want anyone to see it...not yet," she explained, having not even let Spike or Owlowiscious look at it yet. "It's really special, and I don't want anyone to read it until it's ready..." she continued, looking up at the sleeping owl, which was now getting along fine with Spike, but normally slept most of the day. She then looked back to Spike, remembering how negalected he'd felt during that whole incident. Which reminded her of something. "Oh, that reminds me," she said, looking up to a nearby shelf and leviatating a bowl of turquoise stones over and setting them in front of the little dragon. "...It's a reward...if you hadn't been there for me while everyone else had come under Discord's control...I might never have snapped out of it. And you did suffer a lot when Celestia sent my letters back, you earned a treat."

Fluttershy nodded, shuddering. "...It was terrible..." she stated, remembering what Discord had turned her into. "...And it made me really mad at him...what he did to everyone...I can't remember ever being so angry...even during that time I was a model...I'd rather do that for a month than go through what Discord did to us again..."

Spike smiled and saluted, facing Rarity. "Aye aye, cappy-tan!" he grinned, then, to Twilight's treat he began to drool. "Oh Twilight you're the best!" Spike cheered as he jumped and hugged her tightly, then proceeded to chomp down on the gems.

Pinkie Pie hopped down the dirt road, giggling to herself when she spotted Fluttershy and Applejack in the distance. "Hi you guys!" she chirped as she trotted merrily over.

Applejack grinned as she saw her friend in the distance, happy as ever. "Well howdy there Pinkie Pie, you mind giving us a hoof with these here shelters?"

"Course not!" Pinkie giggled as she bounced over on her toes, "What can I do?" She giggled and laughed, like her usual Pinkie self, and she figured if she laughed even more than she did before the Discord incident, it would help her feel better and heal faster, and also so her friends wouldn't worry about her.

Twilight smiled at the baby dragon. She'd raised him from an egg after all...she was surpised a little she didn't do stuff like this for him more often. If there's one thing she'd learned from Discord's mind games, it's appreciate your friends. "You're welcome, Spike. But you earned it," she replied. "And you know Celestia wouldn't have put you through that if she'd had any other options," she continued, Celestia had apologized to Spike for putting him through what she had. She'd be incapable of getting messages through by any other means except that.

"You two had better hurry," said Twilight, changing the subject. "Pinkie Pie is probably planning a party to celebrate defeating Discord."

Rarity blinked. "How do you know that, Twilight?"

"Because she's...well, Pinkie Pie," replied Twilight, thinking of her pink Earth Pony friend. "If she isn't having a party, she's planning one."

Rarity smiled lightly, nodding. "Yes...you're quite right," she replied, remembering that fact about Pinkie Pie, it was her Cutie Mark after all. "Alright, Spike, are you ready to go?"

Fluttershy smiled, so happy to see the pink pony back to her happy self. "Thank you, Pinkie Pie...could you help dig out the rabbit dens?" she asked, before looking sad. "...I..I still can't believe I did this..." she said quietly, looking around at all her animal friends homes she'd wrecked in that cruel state Discord had put her in. "...Do you think they'll ever forgive me?" she asked, tearing up. She'd felt pretty guilty about her angry explosion at the Gala, but this was different...

Spike continued stuffing his face with the delicious gems, crunching down on them like candy. He was only a baby dragon after all. "No problem, Twi, I know the Princess had good reason!" he gratefully chirped through a mouthful of the sweets. Although he's received a massive stomachache and pounding headaches, it was all completely worth it to get the ponies back to their old selves again.

Pinkie giggled at Fluttershy's words. "Don't worry about it Fluttershy," she smiled at her friend, "I'm sure they'll forgive you, with everything you do for them the rest of the time, when you're not being controlled by a phsycopathic freak!" she laughed and patted her on the back. "Oh! And I forgot to tell you guys," she continued, bouncing on her tiptoes again in excitement, her curls jumping with her. "I wanted to invite you both over to the bakery for a little get-together!" she ended with a wink.

Applejack smiled and unhooked her cart, hooking herself up to a new, empty one to dig out some more stones. "Well first you gotta help us out." she winked back, nodding to another empty cart. "Either help me sig out rocks in the way or get to doin' whatever Fluttershy here asks!" she smiled, walking off to clear more possible den spaces.

Pinkie Pie giggled and began helping Fluttershy dig out some rabbit dens. "Oh and I wanted to invite Rainbow Dash too, did you guys happen to see her?"

Twilight nodded, smiling lightly. "She'd have come herself if she could, but he'd trapped her and Luna in the palace."

"Well it's all overwith," said Rarity. "We put that brute back in his statue and thank Celestia the world is back to normal," she stated, disliking talking about the situation. "Spike, please come on, dear. You can eat on the way," she requested, remembering what Twilight had said. NO ONE liked to miss Pinkie Pie's parties, not only were they fantastic gatherings, it hurt poor Pinkie Pie far too much for any of them to bare if they could avoid it.

Fluttershy smiled at her friend's words. "That's good to hear, I'm glad the Cakes are back in business after everything," she replied. As with everyone else, the Cakes had been driven insane by Discord's power and had pretty much destroyed most of their stock...and Pinkie Pie's warped self had also had a hoof in that. As a result, Sugercube Corner had been shut down for a few weeks while they restocked. "I'll be there, Pinkie Pie..." she reassured as she helpped dig out the dens. She was so glad to see Pinkie Pie her normal happy self again and Applejack her honest self. Discord hadn't just broken them, he'd turned them into something they should never have been at all.

"I think Rainbow Dash was clearing clouds over town last time I saw her," said Fluttershy, thinking. She then blushed, remembering when they had to restrain Rainbow Dash to get her back to normal. "...How did I do that?" she asked softly, thinking back. "I'm not a good flyer, how did I catch us up to Rainbow Dash?" she continued in her normal meek, timid voice. She couldn't comprehend how she'd managed to dig up the strength to keep pace with the fastest Pegasus in Equestria, let alone dragging a hot air balloon.. It's just one of those things a meek little Pegasus like her never believed she could be capable of doing.

Spike nodded to Rarity and gathered up his basket of treasure in his small arms, popping one in his mouth every so often as he followed Rarity. "Where to first?" he asked merrily, eager to do whatever she asked.

Rainbow Dash had been on her average weather duty, gathering clouds and clearing them away just like normal. As she flew at rocket-speed, she couldn't help but smirk as she remembered the cotton candy clouds that rained chocolate milk. It was quite the scene to see... but her smirk would soon turn into a scowl as she remembered what Discord had done to her and her friends. He made her betray everyone and make it harder for them to beat him, especially with her having to be restrained to be changed back to normal. She shook away the memories as her wings beat faster, rounding up one last cloud and then clearing the small group away. "Done and done." she stated to herself as she gave one final nod, then passed over the town to move on to the next area. On her way, she spotted Pinkie Pie, Applejack and Fluttershy. "Hiya guys!" she called down to them.

Pinkie looked up and giggled back to Rainbow Dash, "There you are!"

"I'll come down for a quick hi right after this sucker..." Rainbow Dash promised as she headed toward one last, large cloud.

"The usual place, Spike," said Rarity, smiling lightly at the young dragon. He was always so willing to help her, even if she was unaware he had a crush on her. She was glad, but would never take advantage of him. She gave him what he wanted in return. Her...corrupted self would've gladly taken advantage of him, but not Rarity. She wasn't the Element Of Generousity for nothing. "And don't worry about those nasty Diamond Dogs. I've seen them up there a few times, but they're completely terrified of me," she explained, thinking back to when she'd been kidnapped. "So they won't be bothering us again."

Twilight finished writing the chapter of the book and closed it once again, giving a small smile, thinking what it meant. She then remembered that Fluttershy had asked for help fixing the damage to her animal's homes. "Ahh! I'm late!" she exclaimed, realizing this before taking off. If she knew how to do it, she'd probably teleport...but she had a lot of trouble doing it over long distence and prefered not to.

Fluttershy smiled at her friend flying over. She then looked to Pinkie Pie, a little concern in her face. "Pinkie Pie...I've been meaning to ask, please take this seriously...oh, but don't feel insulted or anything," she said, quickly correcting herself. The fact was, they'd all told each other how Discord had gotten to them, and she honestly felt really bad for Pinkie Pie. What Discord had done to her was just...horrible. She just wanted to clear up any lingering doubt in the Earth Pony's mind. "...You know that we don't really feel like Discord said we did, right?" she asked, in a very meek, barely audioable voice. "...We might laugh at the things you do sometimes, but we aren't laughing at you like he said...you're just so fun to watch," she explained, trying her very hardest not to sound like she was at all supporting Discord's horrible brainwashing. "What I mean is...you're just so energetic and happy all the time, it's hard to watch you and not be so happy we have to laugh..." she added quickly. "...Do you understand?" she asked, bracing herself as she always did when talking personally. She didn't want to risk hurting anypony's feelings EVER.

Spike followed close behind Rarity, smirking slightly at the memory of when the Diamond Dogs captured her and she got out of it by complaining and whining... "Well that's always good, but you know if they ever try to get you again I'll tear them apart!" spike growled, actually looking and sounding quite comical because of his small size and big attitude. "I'll protect you!" he added with a triumphant nod, head held high.

"And you know we ain't never makin' fun of you." Applejack added.

Pinkie Pie smiled wide and nodded. "Of course guys." she said sincerely, remembering how snappish and harsh she became due to Discord's mind games. She always loves to spread a smile, to make someone laugh, and that was her goal every day. "That was Discord doing that to me, you know I love it when somepony laughs!" at the end, she giggled.

Rarity smiled lightly. "I know you would, Spike," she replied, not doubting he'd do everything he could to protect her, just like he had before. "It's nice to know at least one gentleman who knows how to stand up for a lady...unlike that brute Prince Blueblood..." she muttered, remembering the Gala. "Now I know why he was walking all alone in the guardian, anyone who'd known that spoiled snob probably couldn't suffer him," she spat. She'd spoke to Celestia after the Gala about Blueblood's behavior. Even Celestia had admitted she knew Blueblood was a spoiled prince and that she'd gladly have warned Rarity had she known.

Fluttershy smiled lightly. "We know...we just don't like hurting your feelings," she replied, thinking back to what Discord had made HER act like. Fluttershy's experience was different because Discord had managed to convince some small part of everyone else of what he'd brainwashed them into doing...not her. NO part of her had wanted to be mean and cruel. Flutterhy teared up as one specific memory came to mind. Right after Pinkie Pie's twisted self had actually yelled at Discord for laughing at her.

"Oh yeah? Well Ha! Ha!"

Fluttershy remembered how she HAD laughed, spitefully and cruely. She knew it was the her Discord had made her into...but that didn't make it any less hard on her. "Pinkie Pie...I-I'm sorry...while I was...that other version of me Discord turned me into...I...I did laugh at you just to be mean and to hurt you...I know it wasn't really me but...I'm so sorry..." she stuttered, beginning to cry.

OOC: I felt Fluttershy would have the worst time recovering out of everyone, since she was flat out brainwashed and NO part of her agreed with what she'd been turned into. To her, it really was a nightmare. She already apologized a lot for things that weren't her fault anyway.
