Plot: Twilight Sparkle and her friends have had their ups and downs over their time of knowing each other, but after all they’ve been through, they’re pretty certain that nothing can stand in their way if they work together…or so they thought.

On the eve of the annual Equinox, and time in which day and night are both balanced, a new foe appears from the shadows. Calling himself Ruin, this mysterious enemy attacks the royal palace, targeting the two Princesses who rule the land. Celestia sends an urgent message to Twilight and her friends to rush to the palace at once, knowing if she and her sister fail, they’ll be the only thing that can stop Ruin.

But Ruin is a force unlike any our heroines have encountered, and even their friendship may not be able to stand against Ruin’s power of hatred. Cunning and powerful, Ruin scatters them across the land to buy himself time to complete his diabolical plan before the final climatic battle will take place. Can they find their way back to each other in time to stop this embodiment of hatred before the Equinox come and he’ll be able steal the powers of Celestia and Luna to conquer the world?

OOC: I thought I was Princess Celestia. You're Spike also.

Twilight leviatated another book over and openned it, looking over the information one more time. She then gave a sigh and looked slowly towards a small apple tree Applejack had provided her when she asked. "Alright, let's see if this works," she said, a little nervious. She concentraited, her horn lighting up and the tree following suit. She concentraited harder. Just when the tree began to take a different shape, the spell...goofed and somehow the tree ended up getting caught on fire. Twilight quickly put it out and made sure it was still alive before sighing. "...How in the world does Rarity make turning trees into topiary so easy?" she asked. "I don't even know how I did that..." she stated, a little frustrated as she looked at the scoorched tree, bewildered as to how she'd managed to turn a topiary spell into lighting a tree on fire. "Maybe I should go ask her for advice..." she said, then screamed as the tree somehow caught a flame again. "Spike! I need water!" she yelled, looking around in panic.

Scootaloo sighed, giving a disgusted look at the dress slowly being put together by Rarity on her. "Sweetie Belle, how did you get us into this? We've already tried getting our Cutie Marks this way!"

"Scootaloo, this is just a favor for Miss Rarity," said Applebloom, not much enjoying getting modeled in this fashion. She then leaned over. "We do owe her for all the fabric we took for the talent show after all..." she whispered, remembering that. It really wasn't an Apple Family thing to take something from someone and not do something in return after all.

Rarity gave a small smile, cutting holes for Scootaloo's wings. "Well I really do appreciate it, darlings," she replied, sliding the young Pegasus' wings through the holes. "I really am sorry to ask this of you three, but I got an order for young filly clothes. It happens so rarely that I do not have a proper modeling dummy for it," she pointed out. "Opalescence was the closest thing I had and last time I used her for a model I had to have Fluttershy coax her to take her claws out of my back..." she explained, cringing slightly at the memory before floating her glasses over and putting them on to stitch a little more on Scootaloo's dress. "And Sweetie Belle does like helping me in the shop, but the order is too big for just one model to work. I'll be sure to repay you somehow."

Fluttershy was at Applejacks farm, helping with some pesky rabbits that, once more, had somehow snuck into the farm to steal apples. "Now you give those apples back," she admonished, keeping the motherly tone she often used. The rabbits refused at first. "Don't make me use the stare," she warned, causing them to reconsider and put the apples they'd snatched back. "Good, now apologize to Applejack," she stated, getting the rabbits to half heartedly apologize to the Earth Pony. Fluttershy turned to her friend. "I'm very sorry, Applejack. If I'd known they were stealing your apples, I'd have kept a better eye on them," said the shy little pegasus softly.

Princess Celestia slowly walked into her and Luna's chamber to rest, having just come back from rising the sun. She had arranged for most events to be during the middle of the day, as she and Luna normally didn't get to see each other except in mornings and evenings, as Celestia ruled Equestia at day and Luna night and they typically slept while the other was ruling. After the sun and moon had been switched for the day, they could relax a bit with each other before one went to sleep. "Good morning Luna, I hope nothing too exciting happened during the night..." she said, constant worry for her sister ever present, always protective of her younger sister. As Luna hadn't aged since becoming Nightmare Moon until being freed, the age gap was even more obvious than it would've been otherwise.

Twilight used her horn to leviatate the bucket and dump it on the plant, then groaned. "How did I even mess up that badly?" she asked, confused as she looked at the scorched tree. "...Spike, let's go talk to Rarity," she stated, aware of her assistant's crush and knowing that would excite him.

"Yeah!" said the other two quickly.

Rarity smiled lightly. "Well, you're determined, that's an adimirable trait for a young filly to have," she stated, finishing up with Scootaloo for now and moving on to Sweetie Belle's. "But I do have a suggestion. You may want to try concentraiting on skills instead of jobs," she explained, sewing the dress carefully. "As in skills that would help you with what you want to do. For example, I am a fashion designer, but my Cutie Mark has to do with finding gems and other prescious stones. It's something I use in my career, not my career itself," she explained, floating over a blue diamond and placing it in the neck of the dress carefully. "And Pinkie Pie, her Cutie Mark has to do with parties, but her true goal is to make others happy. She's very good at parties, but throwing them is a skill she uses to make everyone around her happy...do you understand?"

"So what you're saying is we should look for stuff that would help us do things we really want to do?" asked Applebloom, getting a nod from Rarity. "I suppose that makes some sense.

Fluttershy nodded shyly. "Yeah...it's a beautiful farm, Applejack..." she said, looking around slowly. "I'm just happy to help..." she continued. "...Oh, and how is Winona doing?" she asked, remembering Applejack's dog. She tended to check in on her friends pets all the time, since animals were her thing and what she could help everyone the most with.

Celestia shook her head. "No, it was fine," she said, giving a small smile. "Having you handle the moon really helps me..." she explained, hugging her younger sister...well, the closest equal she could manage. She was a bit concerned as she looked at her smaller sibling. She and Luna were supposed to both be full grown, and enough time hadn't yet passed to see if Luna COULD grow up after everything that happened to her. She shook the thought from her mind and smiled. "...Well the Equinox is coming, sister, it'll be a big event," she explained. It was more than that, though. They set the day and night lengths to their own fluctuating power. When the nights were longer, Luna was more powerful, when the days were longer, Celestia was. On the Equinox, their power was even for the only times in the year. The reason Nightmare Moon had so easily overpowered Celestia at the height of her power was simple...Celestia was terrified of hurting her sister.

Twilight smiled lightly and leviated the plant to her back as well as she headed out, closing the door behind her. "I hope Rarity isn't too busy. I would hate to disturb her in the middle of something. But I really need her help on this..." she said, looking back at the torched plant. "I can't go around accidentally lighting plants on fire trying to preen them."

"Well, that I'm not sure," said Rarity, carefully avoiding letting the needle poke Sweetie Belle when she jumpped. "I didn't know I had that power in me, it just happened one day...If only you three had been in range to see Rainbow Dash's second Sonic Rainboom, it might have inspired you like her first one did me and the others," she explained, getting back to the task at hand.

Scootaloo gave a sigh. "Yeah, even if it hadn't helpped us get our Cutie Marks, I'd have loved to see that," she stated, having taken hearing she missed that a little hard, considering Dash was her hero.

"But one thing I do know is the things that make us special aren't always obvious," said Rarity. "Applejack is amazing with that rope of hers and I like to think I'm a fantastic designer," she stated, continuing to work and finsihing a rather beautiful dress on her younger sister. "But neither of those things, despite being the most obvious thing, were not what got us our Cutie Marks. Likewise, Fluttershy learned about her skill with animals the day she got her Cutie Mark, as did I..." she continued, setting one last jewel in Sweetie Belle's dress. "Alright, that's one down, five more designs to go."

"I haven't seen her today," said Fluttershy, thinking. "But I'm sure that she'll be here," she replied, quickly. "She's never let any of us down, even if she's a little slow sometimes..."

Fluttershy ran over to Rainbow Dash and checked her over. "You look alright..." she said, looking around before looking back to her fellow Pegasus. "Practicing?" she asked, in her normal shy tone. She knew Rainbow Dash about the best of the group, as they'd been friends since flight school.

Twilight came up to Rarity's shop and knocked before coming in. "Rarity?"

"Oh, hello Twilight," said Rarity, looking over before returning to the dress design. "I was hired to design some little filly dresses, Sweet Belle and her friends are helping me."

Twilight smiled lightly at the three little fillies. "Hello, my little ponies, that's very kind of you," she said, using her normal manner of addressing the young ones, which in turn was taken from her mentor. She then looked to Rarity. "I need a little help with the topiary spell, but if you're too busy, I can come back later."

"I should probably take a break anyway," said Rarity, realizing as she finished the second dress that she'd had the Cutie MArk Crusaders standing still for a long time and they probably needed a rest. She looked to Twilight and blinked at the burnt plant. "Oh dear, darling, you do need help."

Scootaloo looked at the burnt tree in suprise. "That's even worse than when we tried to be firefighters..."

"No, I think that was a little worse...considering we were supposed to put the tree out, not light it on fire again..." said Apple Bloom, looking at the burnted tree, then to Spike for an explaination.

A dark figure looked up at the royal palace and slowly approached, a black cloak covering his body with red smoke trailing behind him.

"Halt! Identify yourself!" ordered the castle guards.

The figure looked up slowly, then smiled, eyes lighting up red. "This will be funnier than I thought..." he stated, approaching further and not stoping. "My name is Ruin...and that's a name I live up to quite well," he said, smirking sinisterly as he prepared to engage the guards.

"Oh yeah, I remember," said Fluttershy. "Celestia gave you tickets to their next show, did she?" she asked, remembering the Grand Galloping Gala. The Wonderbolts had felt a bit guilty about being torn away from Rainbow Dash so much after inviting her to come hang out with them and had given Celestia tickets to give to Rainbow. They wanted to spend some time with her afterwards.

Twilight smiled nervously. "Yeah...that kind of happened..."

Rarity sighed, looking at the plant. "Well even a Unicorn with your mastery of magic can't get every trick right every time," she replied, giving her friend a reassuring smile. "I'll help you with it, darling, don't worry."

Celestia ran to the balcony in time to see a smoky form disappear through the gate, which had been tore completely off their hinges and thrown all over. "Luna, I think the castle is being attacked, something powerful enough to rip the doors off their hinges," she said, worry rising in her tone. She hurried to her scroll. "I'm not vain enough to think I'll be able to stop it alone...I'm sending an SOS to Twilight Sparkle and her group, if it's an angry animal, Fluttershy may be able to sooth it...if it's a new enemy and I can't stop it, we'll need the Elements Of HArmony..." she said, noteably using I, not we. She began writing the letter urgently.

Fluttershy gave a small smile. "Well...I'll be practicing my cheering..." she said, shyly. "You always work so hard, Rainbow Dash, I know some day you'll make the Wonderbolts..." she encourged, truly hoping that. "...That's all you've ever wanted, even back in flight school..." she continued, remembering a poster Rainbow Dash had kept in her locker back then.

"The Elements Of Harmony can do it...I know they can," said Celestia, thinking. "They freed you and defeated Discord, if they did that, they should be able to handle whatever is coming..." she said, magically transporting the scroll, which would go through Spike as always. She then lead the way to the sealed door behind which the Elements of Harmony were kept, opening it with her horn and letting the chest containing the Elements float out. "Luna...please take the Elements Of Harmony and meet the girls as they come to Canterlot. I'll do my best to stop whatever is attack, stall it at the very least, but if I fail, Twilight and her friends must have the Elements Of Harmony," she explained, openning the chest to reveal the five necklaces and the crown, making sure they were there before closing it and giving the chest to Luna. "Please, hurry sister."

OOC: Your choice if she decides to go and leave her sister to fend for herself or stay and fight. She'll head back to the castle afterwards and get captured anyway and I think explaining how the girls get the Elements back now is a good idea.

Twilight blinked. "A letter from Celestia?" she asked, floating it up and openning it with her magic, reading it and giving a gasp. "Canterlot is in trouble!" she exclaimed.

"What do you mean?" asked Rarity, suprised.

"No time! Hurry!" exclaimed the now panicked unicorn, apparently what was in the scroll was enough to get Twilight instantly worked up and rather frightened. She lifted Spike onto her back without warning. "We've got to get the others!" she stated, running off towards Applejack's farm.

Rarity gave a small sigh. "Girls, please come on," she stated, looking to the Cutie Mark Crusaders and running off herself.

"Come on, everypony, something important is going on!" exclaimed Applebloom, her and Scootaloo quickly casting off their dresses and running to their wagon, Scootallo taking her normal position with her scooter to pull. "Hurry up, Sweetie Belle!"

"I know you'll get it, Rainbow Dash," reassured Fluttershy, then saw Twilight running up in a panick. "Hello Twilight."

"Everypony! Canterlot's in danger! Celestia is in danger!" exclaimed Twilight, so quickly and out of breath it was near impossible to actually make out what she was saying. As she came to a stop, Spike was launched off her back and landed in a bush.

Celestia slowly descended the castle steps into the main chamber, just in time to see the cloaked figure strangle two guards with long, black tentacles protruding from his back. "Who are you?" she demanded, anger in her face before she used an intense beam of light from her horn to blast his tendrils and free the guards.

"My my, Princess Celestia, how grascious of you to have an audience with me," said the figure, turning and looking at her with glowing red eyes. "Or should I say, how fantastic it is to meet one of my mothers face to face."]
