Plot: Charcoal and Hudson are getting used to their new lives as parents of their 5 children, who are also trying to take life stride by stride. However, both parents are tested when their lives get intertwined with two strays who seem to be everywhere they are. This is their story of how they all cope having to deal with one another day by day :)

I'll start:

Hudson sat in the living room, staring out the window at the winter night sky. The wind blew the few trees and he longed to be out there in that blizzard saving lives, but being a retired police dog has it's advantages and disadvantages. His pups lay curled up in their basket near the fireplace. The only movement from that basket was Cuba as he stretched his paws out over his brother Aslan's shoulder.

Dorian trudged slowly through the snow, cheeks pale from the biting cold. His teeth chattered uncontrollably and his warm hat blew off of his head. He reached out to grab it but decided against it. He had been walking around, thinking nothing of the blizzard and disobeying his parent's warnings; but now the 8 year old decided to listen to his parents next time. He tripped over a rock and stayed down, unable to fight the strong winds anymore.

Kimma rustled through a trash can hungrily. "Oooh! Half eaten hamburger! Jackpot, Ivory!" he laughed, dragging the hamburger out of the trash can. He shivered a bit at the cold but it didn't phase him a bit. He continued to dig in the trash until he found a steak bone with a little meat o nit. "I am loving the Andersons!" he grirnned,. He took the bone and began gnawing on it until he saw Dorian. His fur bristled and he bared his fangs. "Human.." he snarled.

Charcoal walked into the living room where Hudson and her puppies were resting. She had come from her little girls room where she would stay with her until she fell asleep. The wolf dog smiled lovingly at Hudson as she watched him gaze out the window. She knew exaclly what he was thinking about as she strode past the pups and to his side.
" Thinking about your job again?" Charcoal whispered as she laid down next to Hudson.

Ivory shivered slightly from the cold wind blowing onto her soft face. She smiled at her brother as he stifled through the trash to find them dinner. She wasnt particularly good at digging in the trash to give them a meal, so she usually just stood look out while Kimma worked. She was lost in though, looking in the opposite direction when a hat had crossed her line of sight and landed at her feet. At the same time, she heard Kimma say human and whipped her head around to see what he was talking about.
Ivory gasped when she seen him fall into the snow. The hat must have been his and had fallen off his head from the wind. Forgetting about her brother's precence, she grabbed the hat and ran to the boy, putting down the hat infront of him only to try and wake him by licking his face.

Hudson snapped out of his reverie and nodded slightly. “Yes. I still can’t believe it.” He sighed, referring to when his partner dropped him off at the side of the road. His heart turned cold at the remembrance of that. He saw the rookie before and had attacked him, but it didn’t feel like enough. “I don’t understand.” He said quietly, looking down at her.

Dorian stirred a bit and opened his eyes. His eyes widened when he saw Ivory and put his hat back on his head. “Th-thank…y-you…” he stammered. He hesitantly reached out a hand to stroke her muzzle.

Kimma snarled and trotted up to her. “What are you thinking?! Humans hate strays! We are strays!” he snapped, trying to push her away from Dorian. He had a deep hatred for humans and couldn’t get why his sister liked them.

Dorian jerked away from Ivory when Kimma approached them. He sat up and stared at Kimma.

Charcoal nuzzled his neck fur then laid her head on his paws, "You didnt do anything wrong. Some humans are just cold hearted. But I wouldnt give up just yet." She lifted her head up and smiled at him motherly, "For all you know, another police officer might take you in." Once again Charcoal nuzzled him, hoping that he would cheer up or at least not lose all hope for being happy.

Ivory whinned happily as the little boy rubbed her muzzle, her green eyes making sure to meet his gaze. She was suprised when Kimma had jumped into their little world and started to move her away from the little boy. Ivory glared at him as she made her way between the two, pinning her ears flat against her skull, "Kimma hes just a little boy! He might be a human, but if he was going to hurt me, dont you think he would have done it already!"

Hudson chuckled and nuzzled her then lay his head on hers. “Maybe…” he said quietly. He closed his eyes and sighed, lost within the memories of his days as a police dog, the best in his unit. His eyes opened slightly when he heard the soft padding of feet behind them.

“Momma..?” Cuba mumbled, his grayish fur ruffled and his white tuft of hair messed up. He yawned and stumbled backwards, still not fully awake.

Hudson couldn’t help but chuckle at Cuba.

Kimma glared at her and flattened his ears against his skull as well. “Humans are unpredictable! You’ll never know if he’s just trying to win your affection so he can hurt you later.” He growled.

Dorian watched them intently. He stared at them curiously, wondering what they were saying.

Charcoal sighed in contentment as she slowly started to drift off. When Cuba had walked in, She instantly lifted her head to look at the sleepy pup. Along with Hudson, she was chuckling softly at the sight of him stumbling around, half asleep. Charcoal gazed motherly at Cuba, " What are you doing up dear?"

As much as Ivory wanted to defend this poor boy, she knew that he brother was right to be cautious. Ivory sighed inwardly then took a more relaxed pose, "Fine, you win. But you have to at least let me take him home or to a hospital or something!" The words managed to escape her lips in a calm tone, but she had to struggle to not snap at Kimma for not letting her interact with the human.

"I couldn't sleep very well." Cuba mumbled, stumbling forward. He would have fell over on his face, but Hudson held out a huge paw to stop him. Cuba stumble dup to them and curled up on his mother's paws.

Hudson smiled at them. "He is such a mama's boy." he whispered.

Kimma thought for a moment then glared at Dorian, eyes cold. "Fine! But you'd better come right back!" he snorted. He turned around and disappeared into the blizzard.

Dorian froze when Kimma glared at him but when he left he turned to Ivory. "Is he your b-b-brither?" he asked quietly, his voice getting carried away by the storm. He curled up into a ball adn buried his face in his shoulder, trying to keep warm.

Charcoal giggled at the scene. She had never felt more at peace since the time she used to sleep by her mothers side. She licked Cuba's head then laid her head back down next to the little puppy's small body. Her eyes slowly closed and she started to drift back off to sleep.

Ivory sighed as he left then turned back to Dorian. He was way to underdressed to be out in this kind of weather. She quickly looked around and found the quickest route to get to the boiler room. She barked at him and tugged on his sleeve, wanting him to grab on to her fur so she could lead him to safety.

Hudson sighed in contentment and lay his head on hers. His eyes slowly closed and looke dat the rest of his pups out of the corner of his eye, making sure they were sound asleep before turning in himself.

Dorian got to his feet slowly, nearly falling back down in the process. "Where are you taking me?" he asked, confusion visible in his tone. he grabbed a fistfull of her fur and looked around, barely seeing anything in the storm.

Skylar, who was used to cuddling and staying very close to her brother, Cuba, noticed the emptiness of the spot next to her. She felt around her spot in the basket, still somewhat asleep, then slowly rose from her bed. With her eyes partly opened, she looked for him. The puppy finally caught the scent of her brother over by her mother and father, then she stumbled over to their sleeping figures and laid down next to Cuba.

Charcoal, used to this behavior by now, stayed fast asleep, knowing that by morning, she'd find the rest of them by her side aswell.

Ivory walked, using memory to guide her to what would be the boiler room. Her plan was to drop him off inside then find someone to help the poor boy. She might even just stay the night with him, then leave when the storm brakes. The treck wasnt long, but to her it seemed like hours. She could feel the boys temperature go down with every step. Finally she opened the door using a trick her brother showed her, and led the boy to the boiler where hed be warm.

Aslan rolled over to where Skylar had had just been. His eyes opened to see that his sister had gone. He looked around to see Cuba had vanished as well. He caught their scents, but did not move. He yawned silently and stayed put. His eyes closed again, knowing that his remaining sister and brother would soon be gone to their parents.

Annee tossed and turned in her sleep, whimpering softly as Skylar and Cuba left from beside her. She opened her eyes to see her sister walk over to lay by her mother and her ears flattened against her skull.

Hudson’s ears twitched at the sound of her whimpering and he looked around to watch Annee. She froze when she saw him look at her and he got up slowly, careful not to wake Charcoal or Cuba. He padded over to the basket, picked his daughter up by the scruff of her neck and brought her back over to where Charcoal, Cuba, and Skylar lay. He set her down and lay down himself. She crawled up onto his paws and drifted off to sleep.

Kimma lay down in a small overturned wooden box, still grumbling to himself. He lay his head on his paws and closed his eyes though he was wide awake. He replayed the past few minutes in his head over and over again in disbelief.

Dorian hobbled into the boiler room and fell down in front of the boiler. His shuddering soon stopped and he was able to speak without stuttering. He looked up at Ivory and smiled, his brown eyes brighter than before. “Thanks. You saved my life.” He said quietly, reaching out a hand to pet her muzzle again.

Cerulean slowly stirred, as the last one of his siblings to wake. The puppy squirmed around until he found a spot next to Aslan. Since his sister Skylar was gone, he felt the urge to follow her, but he was not about to leave his brother there alone in the basket. Cerulean opened one of his eyes and looked at Aslan, "Wanna go over there?"

Ivory looked back at the door, thinking about what her brother had said, then looked back at Dorian while he was staggering over to the boiler. How could anyone be scared of something so small and helpless. Ivory smiled to herself then walked over to the little boy. When he lifted his hand to pet her muzzle, she wasted no time closing the gap. She gave a soft whine and lowered her ears, trying to make him feel more comfortable with her.

Aslan opened an eye to stare at his brother. “No..I’m not going over there with them.” He muttered. Secretly he did but he wouldn’t tell anyone. He curled back up into a tight ball and drifted back off to sleep. “I’m not a kiss up.” He said so Cerulean couldn’t hear.

Dorian smiled and started to scratch her behind the ear. “You’re nicer than that other dog.” He grinned. He jerked his hand away when he began to cough. He sniffled a bit and looked up at her. “I don’t suppose you can find a doctor?” he winced.

Cerulean lowered his ears then looked over to where the rest of his family were sleeping. He sighed slightly and snuggled closely to Aslan, trying his hardest to fall asleep, 'Not gunna leave my brother...' Cerulean kept chanting that inside his head, hoping to give him enough reason for sleep.

Ivory could feel her motherly insticts kick in. She licked Dorian on his cheek to signal a yes, then ran outside, taking a moment to stop and look back at him, then take off into the blizzard. She gasped slightly when the wind and snow hit her face. However, thinking about the poor boy getting very sick kept her going to the doctors house. SHe knew exaclly where he lived, since her and Kimma go through his garbage every thursday night.
