I was wondering how these two were like together? I doubt Karnage cared that much for him but he did let him join so I thought he saw something in him and had a "slight" soft spot for him.
I mean Kit is very skilled and Karnage is smart enough too see that, he said so himself so he may have kinda liked him.
I'm not saying they were close but at least were on speaking terms and I bet Karnage was as rough with him as with the rest of the crew and most likely ignored him much of the time.
The reason is that in P&L he says that he was too easy on him and lets him back in after comeing back too his base, I'd find that story hard too swallow myself but most of the crew were dum and Karnage may have thought that Kit really did plan too do that, even if it was impossible (kids do the darnd'st things!) and let him back as he was usuful too him, a living tool that had a close call.
In the end I bet Kit was a cabin boy and a novelty too the crew.

As you said, Kit is skilled (but isn't he skilled BECAUSE he joined the air pirates and learned some things?...nah, probably not, the air pirates are too dumb) and an "innocent looking" child can be used in dirty plans... It seems he was the only child among the air pirates. Also his little size can be used for getting in narrow places. (though I think some air pirates are as small as him) He was also smarter than all of the air pirates reunited...so yes, I believe Karnage saw him as a "refreshing addition to this normally thick-headed group". Well, the only thing we can know for sure, is that Kit "got sick of them". That can imply a lot of things. Yes, I believe he was ignored most of the time, except when they had a specific use for him. Did Karnage have *some* feelings for him, though? Hard to say. Maybe he did, I don't know if it's only me, but I think Karnage must feel sometimes lonely because he hasn't got anyone "smart enough" to talk to.

The best thing too say is he was amused by him, he did act friendly at the end of P&L part 3 buy was most likely an act. I go with the story that he joined them after they captured the plane he was on. Right so he may have put up a act too make him stay. He was usuful too him no doubt. I can see him backhanding him across the face as he does with the others and he may have had the odd use for him, though I think he was mostly a cabin boy. Maybe he did, I don't know if it's only me, but I think Karnage must feel sometimes lonely because he hasn't got anyone "smart enough" to talk to. I think he found him amusing and refreshing from the others. I doubt more then that being so in of himself.

Interesting question; and perhaps one of the many that haunt my mind.
I think their relationship was not exactly like "father and son", not much in the end of course but he did show it now and then, he probably thought "this kid may be of use too me" and anybody would respect his spunk so he tried too get him too follow him, but screwed up. Karnage would have used him only too further his own endeavours (gangs sometimes do this) in the? end as he only really cares about himself in the end although he showed an interest in him. And I doubt Kit did much with the pirates and was just a kid who tags along in the background.
Anyway it would have been great to show more about relation of Kit and Karnage? in Talespin.

Quote: And I doubt Kit did much with the pirates and was just a kid who tags along in the background. When Kit steals the jewel from Karnage, he says "Stop that boy!" and not "Stop Kit!" That tells a lot. Of course that may be justified by the writers wanting him to stay a "secret boy" until he reveals his name to Baloo.

Of course, to play devil's advocate, he does call Kit his "Puny Protege" and asks him if he is happy to be back with the pirates, seeming to take a genuine interest in him. Maybe this is the first time, but he never uses kit's name through the episode, even when he's back after "duping" Baloo, so maybe he just called him boy. I think that Carnage wanted Kit to be a pirate and genuinely had some loyalty to him, but probably never showed affection, and probably wasn't all that close. Kit did tell Baloo that no one had ever stood up for him before.

Admitedly one of the downsides of the show was that they didn't really go into depth about Kit's past with the pirates. In fact it seems to have been all but reconned in later episodes. Kit seems like a perfectly reformed and normal kid (for the most part) while Karnage doesn't even seem to remember or acknowledge him outside "Baloo's little friend". Shame, it might have made an interesting plot point to revive, especially since the show was at least vaguely interested in making Karnage a somewhat affable villain (eg. Stuck on You).

I agree with you on all counts, I see him as a cabin boy and that's all. And your right about gangs, big problen in our countrys.
Anyway it would have been great to show more about relation of Kit and Karnage? in Talespin. The show did in P&L part 3.

Yeah, he may have just given up seeing it as a waste of time. As for Stuck on you, he's a Swashbuckler and they have a sense of honor.

I think there's definitely potential in showing more of this relationship; (then again, I think there's potential in showing more of any of the relationships between the characters! Baloo & Kit, Baloo & Becky, Baloo & Molly, Molly & Kit, Becky & Kit, Becky & Karnage, etc... all of them could be pretty interesting)

You forgot to put Wildcat, although clueless he's an older brother figure too the kids.
