Several people have shown interest in making a Redwall Source, built around the Redwall animated series and the books on which they are based. For those who don't know, Redwall is primarily a series of books written by Brian Jacques, revolving mostly on a place called Redwall Abbey and sometimes related locations such as the mountain fortress of Salamandastron. The creatures who live in Redwall - an assortment of mice, moles, hedgehogs, badgers, and other such creatures - are an order (one might call them monastic, but their behavior does not fit such a label) devoted to healing and helping others. But their abbey is frequently assaulted by malicious vermin - foxes, rats, stoats, and others besides. In times of such dire need a warrior must arise, usually in the mold of Redwall's first great champion, Martin the Warrior. The animated series ran for three seasons, each season based on one of the many books written about Redwall and its occupants. These are, respectively... Season One: RedwallMatthias the mouse enjoys a peaceful existence at Redwall Abbey, training to join the order of healers there. But in his heart of hearts he yearns for adventure and combat, inspired by legends of the great warrior mouse, Martin. But when the infamous warlord Cluny the Scourge decides to claim Redwall for himself, Matthias may get more than he bargained for. As ancient prophecies begin to unfold, he learns he must find the sword of Martin the Warrior, or Redwall will be lost forever. Season Two: MattimeoA mysterious fox named Slagar the Cruel cons his way into Redwall with his band of slavers, then makes off with all the young ones there in an act of strange revenge for some past offense. But whatever he's after, he may face an even worse vengeance for taking a child very dear to Redwall's resident warrior. As deadly traps and cunning riddles tangle together, the Redwallers and their newfound companions must rush to catch the slavers and recover their children. Meanwhile, a band of birds led by the evil General Ironbeak have decided to take Redwall for themselves, no matter how many lives they must take in the process. Season Three: Martin the WarriorYou've heard the legends. Now see the story. Young Martin lived a calm life at home while his father was away fighting sea raiders. But when he wanders too far from the village, he's kidnapped and his father's sword stolen from him by the tyrant Badrang. Forced to toil in the fortress of Marshank, Martin struggles to maintain his fighting spirit, and to find some means of escape. A beautiful mouse-maiden named Rose may be able to help him, but there's no telling what they may risk to do it, or the price they may pay to free the other slaves. Site development is in early stages. For now I'm developing character profiles, but I need help to gather screenshots and put together the site layout. Steet has said that if such a source is put together, he will approve it. Anyone interested, please join. You can watch Redwall on YouTube using these playlists - just click "Play All" and you're good to go. It definitely would be! I wish more people read them. Martin the Warrior's my favorite but I haven't read near all of them. I'm hoping to this year though!

I haven't read most of them either, but I'll never forget my first encounter with the Redwall books. Rakkety Tam. Now there's a story. Psychotic villains, a spirited hero, riddles... that's fantasy literature for you.
I've been writing up profiles of some of the characters from the show, and since you mentioned Martin I'll post his.
Martin The Warrior It’s hard to believe that the great legend of Redwall was once a little pipsqueak of a mouse, barely able to lift a sword, let alone wield it. But that is just what Martin was when his father, Luke the Warrior, entrusted him with his blade before going off to fight the sea rats and corsairs plaguing the coasts of their homeland (how the mouse intended to fight them if he left his sword at home is not clear). He instructed Martin to protect the defenseless and lift up the weak, to fight for justice at every turn, and above all to never surrender his sword to anybeast. Then he boarded a ship to set out and live his own advice. And that’s the last young Martin ever saw of his father. Martin did his best to live up to Luke’s advice, but when he and his grandmother fell foul of Lord Badrang and his cohorts not long after, the young mouse was quickly overpowered and enslaved, and his sword taken for use as the stoat’s own weapon. Despite harsh captivity, Martin grew strong, fed by determination to never be broken, but to one day take back his father’s sword and have his vengeance on the one who took it from him. But don’t be fooled, Martin isn’t all about revenge. He has a kind side too. Even in slavery building the fortress of Marshank, he did his best to heed what he could of his father’s wishes by protecting other slaves less fit than he, even taking their punishment if need be. And he has a special soft spot for a young mouse maiden who helped to set him free, a certain Late Rose of Noonvale. Quote: I'll live, Badrang! Do you hear me? I'll live and take back my father's sword!
Also, this one from the first season, which I had a bit more fun with.
Basil Stag Hare Move over, Bugs Bunny! Basil Stag Hare is not well-known to Redwall, but he is certainly welcome. Though he seems at first to be a tad eccentric, if not completely out of his hare brain, this rabbit is in fact a genius when it comes to combat. In his own words (truthful enough, if perhaps a bit boastful), he is an “expert scout, hind-leg fighter, wilderness guide, and camouflage expert.” He’s very helpful at plotting strategies, and there’s no better diversion if you need one. Full of pomp and bravado, he will gladly engage a small army of armed vermin on his own, armed with nothing but powerful kicks and equally painful one-liners. His enthusiasm is not limited to battle either. He’s the life of the party and the death of the cooks at any feast, as his hearty laughter is matched only by his hearty appetite, earning him the nickname “stomach on legs.” It is not at all uncommon to see him seated at the table, making limited conversation from behind a pile of food heaped higher than his own ears. Quote: Never backward coming forward. No reeking rodent's going to incarcerate innocents in my countryside!

Now this is a great idea. I always thought that it would be better to add sources for things that aren't as well known, but still have their fans - pretty much what describes Redwall. I know I watched the first season of the show and started the second last summer, but I kind of lost track of things when the school year started.
Hidden text : click to show
I did love how they had the second season's villain be one of the side characters from the first. Just goes to show that things can always catch up to you in the end. I hope to see this come together in the future - it would be a good way to refresh this site.

Not from its creators, nor from the public. And I agree about Slagar. That was a stroke of genius on the author's part.

We deffidently need a Redwall Source here on Animation Source. Redwall has always been one of my favorite series, and I'd love to see a Source dedicated to it~
Did you know, Jacques wrote so many feasts into the stories because during WWII he was starving, and he was picturing all the delicious foods?
And I agree, Basil was deffidently one of my favorite characters, a good laugh to see him in action, No?
