Yep, they're making a live action Captain Planet film. What do I think about it? If it's done right, it could be done. I don't know how any of the old villains could be taken seriously with the names they had, but if the names are just alias then it could work.

I could see a plotline mainly dealing with them trying to unite the five of them in time to stop the villain. My biggest concern is that Captain Planet will just show up in the last five minutes and curbstomp the bad guy, I'd like to actually see him WORK for his win this time. Thoughts?

I never really watched it when it was on TV [if I did I was to young to really remember]. He always seemed like a 'save the trees!' kind of icon.
So the thought of him getting a movie is weird to me. First thought was "What next? 'Smokey the Bear'?" *shrugs* I think there are better heroes who deserve a movie, but what can you do.

The series actually did have some complex episodes and was one of the few to actively adress the effects of druguse on people. The primary reason it was so avialous with it's messages was Ted Turner's fault, as he kind of demanded stuff like that. I'm hoping this movie is kind of darker and edgier myself, it could work.
