YES everyone is doing it! And I wanted to do to it too.
Yes, everyone improves over time and if you currently don't like how your art looks....Keep drawing and practicing! It really pays off! It wont happen in two seconds though, it takes awhile...trust me xD

So yus. Here you go. I don't have MANY pictures but here's the start to present sort of thing:
This is Tyson. I adopted him from Dakotawerewolf AGES ago and as you can see, the first picture is horrid and old xD


I haven't been posting much anymore on BS but I've been adding to DA very recently.

Here's another I found. Not as old as the first but still shows a difference.
This is Anukshook, I made him for a contest a while ago so he isn't as old as Tyson xD I had trouble drawing fluffy dogs as you can see the lines are all jagged and everything on the old picture.
