EXCELLECT post, Zuko. 10/10. I see a lot of members these days feel discouraged and maybe even depressed because they see artists like you and think, "Wow, my drawings are awful compared to yours, I wish I had that talent." or something along those lines. But this will cheer them up by saying "I was just like you once. But I got through." It's a really powerful message to anyone who wants to be a great artist, to never give up their dreams. There's always going to be someone to compare to, not just in art, but in everything. But should people let that one person ruin their lives? Of course not! I also agree on letting those people who are better then you be your guide, which is what I did starting out. Thank you for posting this. And I hope that anyone who posts after me can be touched by this and believe that NO ONE starts off like a pro, in anything. Whether it's art, music, sports, etc. One of my favorite quotes. "Every expert was once a beginner..."

Ah, improvement charts! How I love them so. X3 Anyways, that was an awesome post, Zuko, and oh-so-true. I remember when I first came to BaltoSource, I really looked up to the better, more popular artists and always wished that my stuff was as good as theirs. It, of course, wasn't. BUT I kept drawing, and trying, and well...in the three years I've been here, it went from this to this.SO, Zuko's right. Improvement is possible. :D Just keep trying!

I want to ride in shows someday. I want to care for horses, maybe even become one of those "animal cop" people who care for abused animals. I have improved so much over the years in riding horses, I started when I was only 3! I've fell off of a horse, been stepped on by a horse, lost my sturups (which did not end good XD ), and plenty other things, but now, i even own a horse of my own! I'm no good at digital art, i only have the newer version of MS paint, the XP version, and GIMP 2. I had Corel Photoshop, but the trial ended and i didn't really like it anyways. But I'm going to keep trying, this really lifted my spirits!

A fine posting...and one can definitely see how you've improved over time. I wish I could knuckle down and dedicate myself to this as well. But, as you may know, I come from the "old skool", er..."school" of art. lol Pens, pencils, brushes, paper (and other media), etc. When I was in high school, in the mid 80s, we didn't have computer programs and peripherals to assist us in creating sparkling (oof...perhaps that's not the right word. "Dazzling?" No...hmm. "Pristine"? That might work! lol) works of art. We had to fudge it with the materials as they were. "Analog", if you will.
Of course, I fully realize that there are some fan artists who still use those types of media and tools. But it seems that most fan artists nowadays use computer-based materials and peripherals. It would take time for me to first learn how to use the silly things, and THEN devote time to actually improving the once extant artistic ability I had in art classes back in the day...which has since (as I have often lamented) long since gone dormant. Heh.
Still, a nice topic!

This is what we need. Someone to tell others this. When I started drawing, I was terrible! But now after some practise over the years, my work has improved greatly. Just because there is a better artist out there, doesnt mean that your artwork isn't good, because there are always gonna be some better artist out there, even great artists can think that others are better than them, but doesnt mean that you should stop what you're doing. Just keep practising and then one day you will have the great style and ethics of those who draw well.
All artists start out not-so-good, but after all the years of practising and learning new techniques, you too will become a great artist with an amazing style. Nobody starts out as amazing, it takes practise and time. So, dont give up!
