General Idea

For those of us who remember the RP Honor Awards created by the Mods a few years ago, you already know the basic idea of this topic. But for anyone who did not know about them or joined AS after they died out, I will explain.

Over two years ago, the four Forum Mods from AS joined together to honor roleplays that were interesting and detailed and could serve as role models to the newer roleplayers on the site. Rusty the Fox, Dr. Rex, Swords of the Wolves, and Lux - Bankitty did a wonderful job of giving awards to amazing roleplays. But after the late June award was cancelled, the awards died.

My reason for this attempt at bringing the awards back is quite simple. The quaility of roleplays, I am sad to say, has gone down majorly since I first started roleplaying on Animation Source. Despite this, though, there are some roleplays that are nothing short of amazing. I would like to honor these roleplays and roleplayers for the good job they are doing.

I am not doing this alone, though! Along with myself, Black Rose, a member for over four years and a roleplayer for just as long, I have two friends who are amazing roleplayers as well. Moki Hunter has been a member for over three years and a roleplayer for almost three years. Windancer has been a member for over three years and a roleplayer for almost two years. Between the three of us and our experience, I think we know a good roleplay when we see one!

How You Can Help

If you find a roleplay that you believe should be honored, please send a private message to either me, Moki Hunter, or Windancer. We will take a look at it and consider it for the award. Please do no just send roleplays because you or your friends are part of them. Remeber, just because you suggest a roleplay does not mean it will get an award. And, also, if you suggest a roleplay and it does not recieve the award that week, it does not mean the roleplay is out of the running either. It may recieve the award the following week or even a couple weeks after you suggest it.

The Way This Will Work

Every week on Saturday night, one roleplay will be featured on this topic. It will be picked by either myself, Moki Hunter, or Windancer. Whoever chose it will write a small paragraph about why the roleplay not only follows the rules, but goes beyond the requirements to create an enjoyable and interesting story. The roleplay will be chosen from any of the Open Roleplaying sections on the forums.

Also, something a little different from the orginal awards, on the fourth week, all three of us will decide upon any Private Roleplay to recieve the award. This will be an even greater honor since private roleplays are not always as detailed or interesting as open ones.

So what are the actual awards? Number one, you will be featured on this topic. But that's not all! You will also recieve the Role-Play Awards banner, along with another specailly made banner just for your roleplay. You will recieve all of this some time during the week that the roleplay is chosen.

Remember, these awards are subject to change if anything happens to come up. I do hold high hopes that these awards will be a success, though. Good luck to all and role-play well!

This week's winning role play is I Am The Future created by WolfPaws

Although the last good post for this roleplay was back in May, I still thought the idea for this roleplay was unique. Even though there are many roleplays about hiding from an enemy, I don't think I have ever seen one about (for lack of a better word) aliens. The relationships between the characters is realistic and interesting. I hope that this roleplay gets revived because it has lots of potentail to grow from the original plot. Also, this roleplay is a good model on following the rules. Most of the posts consisted of a good size paragraph and correct grammar and spelling (as far as I could tell) was used. Good job to everyone involved in this roleplay! (P.S. Don't let it die!!!)

This week's winning roleplay is Restoration by DakotaWereWolf.

From the very first post, one can tell that Restoration would become a very good roleplay. It's very detailed, has set ideas, and yet still has room to roam. Each and every character is unique in its own way, and I love how it's not all people though not all animals. It's realistic in the ways that they can speak to each other because they know the others' language, and they hardly know their own true nature now. Overall, it's an extremely good roleplay so far, and I'm sure that if it keeps on going, it will become one of the very best! Very unique, very creative, and with a lot of good potential!

Sorry it's late...my Saturday was really busy.

Anyway, this week's...or rather, last week's, winner is "Run Away", by TwilightTheWolf! http://www.animationsource.org/board/run-away-ll-semi-realistic-wolf-rp-ll-accepting-t32440.html

As soon as I ran across it I was eager to join. The plot is unique and so much fun! You stay true to the roots of the plot, and have so many amazing characters within the roleplay. A lot of roleplays have to do with wolves on this site, but you found a way to make it unique and your own, which is becoming increasingly difficult. I hope Run Away becomes active once more; roleplaying that has been a pleasure.

Our first Private Roleplay winner is Balto: Truth and Consequence by Godzillawolf and HMXTaylorLee

I am amazed at this simple story that has grown into an amazing plot line. I am also amazed but glad that someone so new to roleplaying as HMXTaylorLee is able to post so well. Hope you come back from military training soon, HMX, and finish this amazing story!
~ Black Rose

I love how long and detailed your posts are. They're never shorter than a paragraph, and that's really hard to achieve when it comes to private roleplays. Congratulations to both of you; this roleplay is simply exceptional.
~ Windancer

I think this Roleplay is probably the best Balto one I've seen yet! You two never fail to make a nice, detailed post, unlike a lot of other Balto Roleplays out there. The plot is extremely interesting and there aren't a menagerie of new characters in order to make it fantastic! Amazing work, keep it up!

HMX here again, after a long overdue absence. I am so glad and inspired that our work was able to garner the first award in what's sure to be a string of great RPs. That tells me that our story must have struck a chord if it was still remembered after almost three months since the last posting. It also tells me that there is in fact an audience looking forward to an update. It would be most ungracious to deny them! I've informed Godzilla that I'll be available for writing in a short while, when I acquire a working laptop. I ordered one, but it came in broken, and I needed to exchange it. Coupled with a horrendously slow postal system here at Fort Gordon, I'm quickly becoming impatient. I'm using my mobile phone to type right now, but it's a real pain (I apologize if the formatting is messed up as well). I'm in the last 100 yards now, and I'll be there soon! Once again, much thanks for the commendation. It's truly an honor! Once again, thanks to GodzillaWolf for hist infinite patience; it will be rewarded, I promise!

Thank you so much to everyone who was involved! I apperictiate this a lot. RP means the world to me, too, and I am very happy to have been rewarded.

And thank you to Windancer! She brought most of my Roleplays alive.

Thanks guys. This is one of the best RPs I've ever done, HMXTaylorLee is an awesome roleplaying partner who really brings out the best in me.

Mind telling me what you think of the songs? I'm wondering how they turned out.

I think the songs really contribute to the story. Also, it really shows how great both of you are with words. It's hard to write songs, and to include songs in a roleplay is really great!

This week's winning role play is A Long Windy Road created by DakotaWereWolf

This roleplay is just plain amazing. Sometimes open ended plots like this do not do well, but these one has done a great job with interesting and lengthy posts. Good job to all involved!

I was really enjoying A Long Windy Road too, shame it had to be closed down. Good dialogue is so motivating, and that one had it in droves.
