Stop the Sources!

So I pop on BS and ADGTHS once in a while. I usually hope for spotlights on unknown artists and writers, because I like having new material to look at.

But nope! Every single time I log in it's "____ SOURCE NOW OPEN!" and my first thought is "... why? And how many people will even USE ___ Source?"

It seems like a waste of server space to keep pumping out sources that will hardly be used with tiny or inactive fanbases and ignoring massive problems on pre-existing Sources with heavy traffic. (The cluster that is the fan character section of Balto Source for example and regulating the fan image sections.) I mean, is a source for every single animated movie needed? Why not stick to a handful of sources with tightknit communities you know will use the site?

It just seems counterproductive to create new problems and more work when there's so much work that needs to be done rather than ignoring it to spew out yet another source. I think the management should stop making sources and fix what already exists.

Eh I don't mind it. Its not an atempt to fix any problem in my opinion.

But I don't understand what you mean by managment. Alot of these sources are made by members, not steet. (With the exeption of Grey doing graphics on some)
Steet only activates the sources.

(Though yes, the problems Reaaaallly need to be fixed)

The sources are made by members?

Most of the time yeah.

Some members do the information side, and others do the graphics.

The Lion King Source's graphics were made by Wolf.250
Spirit Source was made by Wolf.250 and translated by UKthewhitewolf

Princess and the Frog Source was made by Wolf.250
Brother Bear Source was made by mantisboy9090, Sardonyx, Mohammad891, and FiddleFox
The Aristocats Source was made by Grey Wolf and Anubis
Oliver and Company Source was made by Moki Hunter and Mightybalto1925
Lady and the Tramp Source was made by Mightybalto1925 and Sardonyx
Robin Hood Source was made by Mightybalto1925 and Lucario
Mulan Source was made by Wolf.250
Anastasia Source was made by Nakou and translated by Anubis
Bambi Source was made by Grey Wolf
Rio Source was made by Aaeron DiNozo
Cats Don't Dance Source was made by Achoo, Maverick, and Aaeron DiNozo
*These sources were also translated by Grey Wolf, Wolf.250, and Topsy Turvy Tovah, though I'm not positive which ones.

Though the majority of these site builders are mods and admins across AS, and steet and Grey Wolf are the Webmasters of AS, these sites were made by the kind volunteering and creative work of members here. Steet didn't post up graphic contests, info contests, and source suggestions here for nothing. These people have proven to make fantastic sites here and I, among many others I'm sure, appreciate the work that comes in here. ;]

Yes the websites are made by members who desired to help out voluntarily. What's upsetting is some were lead into extremes, which is the result of the news steet posted couple o'days ago.

Not here to judge, but two sources were fine back in the days, now its just growing and giving nothing more than problems and like Zuko said, it's disheartening towards those members who has put effort into them.

I think I have mentioned this before, but I reckon having just one site with the sources as subsections with the needed info without the n-number of SBs and what have you, would of been more than enough.

But hey, I cannot oppose against a majority, huh.

As I, Cat, Greykitty, UK and so many others, who have been on this site for more than a few years, have so often said. I agree completely, and this was very well put. And quite true! Especially that first paragraph! :lol:

Subsections might be a possible way of reorganizing, but I can see it would require a great deal of physical changes in the site. No small matter to attend to, to be sure.

Wow! Thank you for posting that Emily! I didn't realize how talented so many of our members are. I thought that Steet was the one that created the sources. Thank you so much to call the members that have created these. I am sure that even though I haven't posted, I have browsed in all of these. I appreciate everything that you guys do! Great job!

I so totally agree with you Sora.too many sources why not just the main two or four?and yeah it does create alot of problems^
