I think that there needs to be a name filter (if it's possible) for those who post using the guest feature. I thought of this when the troll who did the hacking of the sites used names of members to post spam questions on profiles and the questions page. This can be misleading to those who may not know this is a troll. So I was thinking that somehow there could be a name filter to prevent guests from using usernames already registered on the sites.

It could be effective enough to a point to stop one from using the same exact username. It may not be able to stop someone from using a modified username, but it could help.

And think of all the other names they could come up with...

Personally if they disable guests commenting entirely, I'd think it'd do alot better job.

The main reason why guest comments are not disabled is for if members cannot get into their account, they can comment as a guest to get help. That's also why I would never agree to disabling guest comments, because member problems like this can happen all the time. Many guests may also have issues with creating an account on the site.

I don´t think giving unregistered people the ability to post comments and questions was a good idea at all. It´s just a pure invitation for trolls.
I personally think it should be removed.
And if someone can´t log into their account they can e-mail steet or a moderator to get help.
