I have doing alot of 3D modeling for second life for sometime now and I eventually want to remake the first Balto Movie using CG. Of course I would use the dub from the orignal movie but I really want to bring new aspects of the charaters and give it a whole new feel, of course I want to use the same charter designs as the orginals in the movie. But I am pretty busy with work & life & second life. I would have to try to work on the models when I get the time. and of course it wouldn't be done for X amount of years depending on the amount of time I can get to spend on it, And of course I am still learning things about working on CG too. I figured I would get some input.
What do you guys think? Of course it would be free once it was done.

To recreate the movie digitally like that, you would have to model and texture everything first before you can animate it. It has nothing to do with the movie itself being in 3D. In any case it sounds like an almost inconceivably ambitious project. Making a full length movie in CG takes years for a company like Pixar to do it, so saying it would take years for you to do it is an understatement. Don't get me wrong I would like to see it - I just think it's a massive project that will require a lot more time than you think it will. At least if you're going to try to match the quality of the original. If you want to show us something, why not recreate a single scene? I'd like to see how close you could get it to the original, and even a single scene will take a long time to create.

It would be cool and all, but I think the movie is fine how it is.

Geez, Someone wants to contribute something, and something awesome at that. I didn't or would have thought that it would be thrown back in one's face. I would think people would appreciate someone and think that would be awesome and be thankful that anybody would want to even contribute their time & efforts towards something of that caliber. But hey, what can I say? Not alot of greatful people out there, which is very sad. It sure does say alot about people.

It is a shame how members will speak their mouth before their mind, but Forbidden, I in my opinion feel this would be a wonderful project. (: Granted, you'll have "haters" for everything made out there, but I feel a fan project like this would be unique. I've seen your work for years and truly admire your talent. This would certainly take an eternity to do, but I know that you'd do it fantastically.

Sure depending on how much time I can spend on it, it can take probly 4-5 years easy give or take but that would only be because of the time I would be able to spend on it. Most of the hard parts is done (story, charaters, moods, etc. etc.) all I would have to do is do the environments, the charater models, the background charater models, Objects, animations, lip syncing, etc. as well as after effects and some cleaning up. But for the most part the planing & time consuming parts are done. As I said before, it all really depends on how much time I can spare on it.
