An interesting topic I thought XD Becaue I know a lot of people have different views on certain sequels in the animated world.

For me I like to pretend these never existed:~

Pocahontas II- If you've watched the first but haven't watched this one, do not watch this one. For one, it completely ruins the story of the first one and I literally died a little inside watching it D':

Open Season 3- As much as I love the first two, there was no need for this one. Roger and the llama where the only enjoyable characters, and they didn't get bearly enough screen time. And why can't some characters just stay single? :c I hated the female bear in this movie. She was your typical little miss 'I'm-so-independent-I-don't-need-a-man' kinda character I really am starting to get annoyed with those types of character.

All Dogs Go to Heaven 2- They killed Charlie DD8 They made him look like just a really bad Charlie.B.Barkin look-a-like and he was not the witty, cool dog we loved so much in the first one :/

So, which ones do pretend never existed? 83

Balto 2 & 3 usually XD
Also the Cinderella and Land Before Time sequels.

There are probably more I'm just not remembering right now...

Ahhhh YES! THIS! Oh my god.. the ending literally made me cry when I first watched it (I was much younger) because of how much it crapped all over the wonderful love story of the original! GAHH I just wanted to kick Pocahontas for being all Hidden text : click to show

It just.. angers me so much. D8

Finally someone else who agrees with me on this! I thought it was awful. Plus the love story just sucks. Once second it's "STOP STALKING ME YOU PERV", and the next it's "I will aaalways beee with youuu" I mean WAT. It just annoys me so much. xD The movie's only redeeming quality is the fact that Charlie's voiced by Charlie Sheen - who also plays as Charlie (lol he plays a lot of Charlies) in Two and a Half Men - a show which I love. xD Other than that, the movie blows, and I refuse to accept it as the sequel to one of my favourite childhood movies.

That's about it.. you pretty much covered it for me. xDD I just added my two pence.

To me that movie should not EXISTED

I entirely agree with this ^
I HATED Pocahontas II. What ever happened to John Smith and Pocahontas? They completely messed up the first movie, not to mention the feelings you got from it and everything else. Basically, what you guys said X3

I also don't like Balto 2 or 3, or Lion King 2, though surprisingly I do like Lion King 1 1/2.
Those though should be for obvious reason since almost everyone else hates em too XD

I can't bring myself to say Balto 2 and 3 because I still appreciate some aspects of those movies. I wish they had been better though. There are some sequels I could really do without:

- The Fox and the Hound II. Pointless and mostly terrible. Lacks all of the heartbreak of the original.
- All 367 Land Before Time sequels. IMO, even one sequel was too many.
- Pocahontas II - yeah.

Actually I think Question mostly covered it for me, I disagree about Balto 2 is all. The Fox and the Hound II is the one that bothered me the most out of all of them though.

That that that that that.

Also agree with Xaqtly on Fox & the Hound 2.
Didn't need a sequel at all, let alone a horrible midquel with none of the original charm or heart to it.

Brother Bear 2 - Probably the worst animated sequel I've seen. HORRIBLY unecessary and stupid.

Shrek 3 and Forever - Shrek 2 was okay, but it should have ended on it. Shrek 3 was stupid and Shrek Forever was just boring and very pointless.

101 Dalmations 2 & Tarzan 2 - like many others - really unecessary.

Lady and The Tramp 2 - Yhis was just a pointless repear for me...

I was too afraid to watch Fox and the Hound 2 and Lion King 1 1/2

Boy, do I have a list...

The Secret of NIMH 2: Timmy to the Rescue - If you've seen it, you know exactly why. The plot is stupid, the animation fails, and it makes the worst animated sequel prior to this one look like a masterpiece. Worst unnecessary sequel EVER.

Cinderella II: Dreams Come True/Atlantis: Milo's Return/any sequel that follows the "three-stories-one-movie" system - Poorly animated, poorly characterized, and quite boring in the end. Although the last story in Cinderella II is good, it's only the best "one-of-three" part I've seen. Mostly all other parts are terrible. How can a child sit through it?

Fox and the Hound II/Tarzan II/Bambi II/any "midquel" honestly - Pointless. They may be well-animated, but the story doesn't add anything to what we already know happens to the main characters. It's just a ploy to keep parents buying the movies with the younger, cuter versions of their kids' favorite characters. That and the stories are almost identical at times, though not all are.

All Dogs Go To Heaven 2 - Argh. I only like this movie for Sasha.... because the rest is crap. Even worse, a lot of the stuff mentioned in this movie was messed up once the TV series began. Geez, Charlie - this is one movie you could have just remained in Heaven, as the movie itself was Hell.

Balto III: Wings of Change - I don't need to go into this, do I? Not even Kodi, his dad or the much improved animation can save this one. And no, it's not all because of Stella. I leave it at Wolf Quest and that's it to me. It was too much like the original with an added concept of flight. At least they did some history, but that can't save this movie either.

The Hunchback of Notre Dame II - Another Argh. I only like it for the new girl, Madellaine as Quasi's love interest, but that's it. Yes, they got most of the voice cast back, but the story and most of the songs.... FAIL. Disney, why do you put the best song of the movie in the end credits? Avoid at all costs.

Any LBT sequel - I'm glad the Balto series didn't turn out like this. I do like a couple of the films, but they are the earlier ones, not the newer ones. The characters make you want to cringe sometimes on how stupid they are, and the songs... they are even worse. And don't mention the TV series for this either.

The Lion King 1.5 - Not exactly a "midquel", but just a revamp of the first movie told in the POV of Timon and Pumbaa. I don't see how this is GOOD. It destroys whatever magic the first film had in my opinion.

Any Shrek after Shrek 2 - Not including the TV specials, Shrek the Third and Forever After.... were awful. Funny? Yes. Funny bad? Totally. Though I'll have to admit that Forever After had an interesting villain, it's the crappy plot and the overuse of the "what-if?" scenario. Shrek lost his spark and charm in both of these sequels and I'm glad there will be no more.

Ferngully II: The Magical Rescue - There is no magic here. Bland, pointless and sheer BOREDOM.

The Little Mermaid II: Return to the Sea - I only like this for Melody, as the rest of the film is a reversed-rehash of the original minus the charm and emotion. Maybe this is the reason why Ariel's daughter isn't mentioned when it comes to official Disney Princesses.

EDIT: Pocahontas II: Journey to a New World - How could I forget this one? Though the historical addition of John Rolfe was a good touch, not even that and some of the original cast from the first film couldn't save this piece of history from being destroyed.

And that's it.... I'll bring up some more if I remember them!

Can I just say that Pocahontas 2 was based of off true history? Seeing as she did marry John Rolfe instead of Smith. I'll admit I care about as much for the sequel as the first movie, but even Disney wouldn't change history that much.

Anyway moving on the only sequel I really hated as much would be Lion King 2, it was very pointless to me, even though I'm not a huge fan of the first one.

The American tale sequel: Manhattan monster, that was just bleh, the ones before that were nice, but to me it was just dark and not worth spending much time on.

The first one that really jumps out for me is Pocahontas II: Journey to a New World. It completely ruined the magic of the first film. And frankly I'm tired of hearing the "but it's based on a true story!" thing to try and back it up. (I've heard people say that crap a lot in real life -.-). It was bad.

There are more. I'm just to tired to think of them or I've blocked the memories of them deep inside my brain somewhere. :]

LOL. Bartok the Magnificent. I'm following everyone's warning to stay away from it, and given that the main characters weren't even in this spin-off that shows how much of a mistake it was. I liked every other sequel/spin-off I've seen, so no more complaints besides that one.

The Secret of Nimh 2: Timmy to the Rescue:... just god awful. Until all pretenses, I refuse to accept that this is a sequel to a very wonderful movie.

The Fox and the Hound 2: TECHNICALLY SPEAKING THIS IS A PREQUEL. But I think it still counts. I don't think I would mind this movie so much if it was its OWN movie. But to be a sequel to TFATH? No. This was way too light-hearted and unnecessary for what did become a good movie.

All Dogs Go to Heaven 2: This sequel really shouldn't have been made, just like Timmy to the Rescue. It destroyed Charlie, and his relationship with Sasha is forced on us. Though Sheen did an okay job voicing Charlie, he did not have that voice that really gave Charlie's character meaning.

Lady and the Tramp 2: Another unnecessary sequel =/ Buster was the highlight of this movie for me. Everything else... bleh.

Pokemon movies after Heroes: Pokemon Heroes, in my opinion, was the last good Pokemon movie created before they began pooping out more. I've watched a few of them (Destiny Deoxys, Lucario and the Jewel of Life, the one with Shaymin...) and they just don't hold a candle to the originals.

Balto 2 & Balto 3: Though I do like Balto 3 better than 2, I think they were totally unnecessary to the franchise. We did just fine with Balto, we didn't need the other two.

The LBT sequels: Yeeeah. I mean there were a few good ones in the beginning but then they kept on driving the franchise into dirt. I forgot what the number of the last movie was.

The Lion King 1 1/2: I don't mind the fact that it's about Timon and Pumbaa. But this is just an absolute discontinuity of the first movie. They changed some things around (I don't really what exactly as it's been a long time since I last saw it... thank god), and that's what really turned me off. If you're going to make a prequel, at least make it fit into the universe and stop ruining stuff from the original movie.

Tarzan 2: Ah, Tarzan 2. I didn't know there was a sequel and it was on tv, so I watched it. Another unnecessary sequel that did not fit into the universe it's supposed to take place.

But one thing I learned...

STOP MAKING SEQUELS TO DON BLUTH'S WORKS! Besides American Tail: Fievel Goes West, I don't think there has been any good sequels to his works.

Other than that, I'll come up with more if I think of any.
