People around the world know of Lennox, an American Bull dog Labrador cross who was [very] wrongfully taken from his loving owners by Belfast City Council Dog Wardens for
LOOKING like a Pit Bull. He was taken from his family on May 19, 2010 leaving behind a broken hearted eleven year old girl, Brooke. (Lennox is her best friend as she's disabled and cannot play with other children like 'normal' kids)
Prior to being forcibly taken from his loving family, Lennox did no wrong. He broke no rules, nor did his family. He is (unjustifiably) being targeted against
because of his looks. (And the people who decided that he was a Pit Bull are untrained and unsure of what they even look like)! His family went above and beyond what they had to do as a responsible dog owner; neutering Lennox when he was young, licensing him, insuring him, getting him DNA registered.
The only time Lennox's family had been contacted by the Belfast City Council Dog Wardens was two hours after their beloved dog was taken from them. They were told “If you do not sign him over to us to be destroyed then you will most certainly lose your job as we will force a prosecution upon you through the courts.” In other words, this 'group' was threatening the family of this dog, forcing them to give him up just so they could murder an innocent animal. For a long time his family asked how their dog was doing, if they could even just visit him. Recently photos of Lennox's prison have emerged and been shown to the family - and the pictures show this innocent dog in a cold, inhumane concrete kennel.
All over people have been trying to help get this wonderful dog back to his family where he belongs. But the Belfast City Council Dog Wardens want to murder Lennox along with forcing his family to then pay for the cost of his eleven month confinement.
And why are people trying so hard to put Lennox to death? Oh that's right, because he
LOOKS like a Pit Bull. Because people are ignorant. Because they would sooner murder and innocent animal than realize and admit that they are wrong.
I cannot imagine how Lennox's family feels. My heart goes out to them, and I really hope they are reunited with their loving family member.
