They said it somewhere in the movie he was a alaskin huskey i know that Siberian huskeys are not that big and black like that

I don't remember them ever stating it in the movies, but I've always thought Steele was a Siberian Husky.

Personally, I'd say that Steele is a Siberian Huskey with a larger build to him for character purposes. He's supposed to be the big, bad, and mean villain of Nome.

Since they didn't say in the movie, and since Steele wasn't a real dog (he was just made up for the movie), I would say that it doesn't really matter... maybe he's a mutt.

Well his character page refers to him as a husky. But I read elsewhere that he was a malamute.
Which makes more sense to me cause they look more bulky like Steele's build [husky vs. malamute]...

He is obviously a pomeranian you guys. Gawd.



xD This is why I just say he's a mixed breed. He's built like a mal, but his eyes are blue. Mals don't have blue eyes: they usually have brown. But huskies - especially black & white ones - have blue eyes. So I just say his dad was a malamute and his mum was a husky. xD Even though, like Emily said, he could have just been built bigger than average huskies to appear more villain-like.

I guess we'll never know his official breed. *shrug*

I'm pretty sure he was a purebred, at least if Balto's comment about a pedigree may be taken at face value.

I generally consider him a malamute, at least for writing purposes, partly because of his size and shape and partly because it would be inconsistent for me to change his breed from what it was in redwolf03's fanfics, which mine sprout from. Not much of a reason, I know. But given that his breed is rather trivial anyway, I figure I don't need that much reason.

Staying cannon with the movie makes this HIGHLY unlikely imo.

He's surely purebreed and I think he's just overgrown Siberian Husky.

I think that he may be a Siberian husky that they made huge so he could look like a villian, or maybe a malamute that they gave blue eyes to so he would look more like a villian.
Besides that, I just believe he was a malamute because of his size. All of the other huskies were smaller than him...

I like this line of thinking, here, too. If they intended Steele to be a purebred (which they more than likely did) that does rule out malamutes as a purebred mal won't have blue eyes - like a few others have said.

Yep. I would agree with this. And I'll expound by saying that perhaps Steele is a mutant, XD. But seriously, perhaps he was just a huge husky. This was the 1920s, though, and back then dog breeds were entirely set in stone, so he also could easily have inherited his size from a malamute ancestor several generations back.
