Starved almost do death, tossed in a garbage bag, and tossed down a garbage chute.
That was the fate this dog almost had. At the buildings a maintenance worker cleans out the dumpsters every few days and on Wednesday, March 16th they got a huge surprise. While cleaning out the contents of a container to go right into a trash compactor, a garbage bag moved. Inside the bag was the dog, a literal living skeleton.
The wonderful man called the City of Newark Animal Control and brought the dog right in. The poor animal's temperature was so low it didn't even register on thermometers. The staff put him on fluids and covered him with blankets and heating pads.
The little dog was ambulanced to Garden State Veterinary Specialists in Tinton Falls - a 24 hour emergency vet clinic. The idea mostly was, if unfortunately the dog passed away in the night, he wouldn't be alone. He amazed everyone with his determination, though, and survived the 24 hour emergency care.
They named this amazing dog Patrick and he is a pit bull mix. He is living proof that one person's trash, is another person's treasure. Or in his case, the
whole world's treasure. People from around the world are following Patrick's story and donating money to help him.
