Who do you think was the better antagonist? Scar or Zira?

Personally, while I like both, I prefer Zira. Why? Because she just got more threatening as the movie went on, sinking deeper into insanity. Scar was threatening at first, but he kind of went down hill after he became King. Yeah, he nearly beat Simba, but he just wasn't as scary as Zira ended up being.

Also, Zira is rather complex. Her motivation is actually to some degree sympathatic. She clearly loved Scar with all her heart and she lost him. Then she got exiled from the Prideland and "left alone with no defense". While Scar is to some degree sympathatic due to being the 'unfavorite', his background doesn't at all justify what he does. Zira's motivation is revenge for the death of her beloved husband and being banished from her home, forced to raise her children in a termite mound.

That and I like My Lullaby a bit better than Be Prepared, just personal preference.

I have to agree; Zira always seemed more violent and threatening than Scar. She seemed way more kooky than Scar at times. Yes, she was exiled from the pride lands, and I think she kind of took it harder than anyone else.

I liked her song better than Scar's, too. She actually creeped me out all throughout out My Lullaby. Example: When she stuck her claws out and raked them all across the wall..I hate that sound xD

Both of you make very valid points, but Zira never actually killed anyone [that we know of anyway. It's rumored she killed Kopa, but I wouldn't know anything about that really].
So to me, Scar seemed more threatening. He was an evil genius who knew how to manipulate and get the job done without getting his paws dirty.
Moral wise, Zira has the upper... paw. But the fact that her reasons for what she did were more reasonable, makes her more excusable from being a villain.
Scars reasons for his crimes were all selfish and not driven by vengeance.

I like Zira too but I have to say that Scar IS the villain, he wanted the power all for himself and nothing more, we've seen him killing his brother and he almost did the same with Simba. Zira was all talking and no action, even during the final battle, she stayed up on a rock to watch the situation and when she was about to start fighting *poof* Kovu and Kiara interrupted her.

Yeah,Zira's Song is better,but i prefer Scar. Why? Cause Scar was the First Villian,as long Zira copy Scar too much. And Scar has a better theory to be the "Bad Boy":
Scar is the Bad Boy cause he is not accepted(He don't lives in Pride Rock but in a cave,he has not a Mate,all think he is evil...). He thinks as a King he would be Popular and respected,as Long Zira only will be Queen cause...it's unknown why. Zira is a little stupid: She is Queen of the Outlands,so why she should be one Queen of 2 Prides? I don't believe what she will revenge Scar,cause she must know how Scar die,so she must be on the Pride Rock when Scar was killed by the Hyenas. But when she was on Pride Rock,how she give Simba the dept? Yeah,very complex.
But Really,i like Scar more.

I think Scar's the best villian.
Being alone and disliked for as long as (we can assume) he was can drive any social creature, like a lion, a little crazy. I would say it was that loneiness that caused him to befriend and, bascially, rule the hyenas. I really like Scar as a vilian because he's very intelligent and careful about ploting and executing his takeover of the Pridelands, but (in my opinion) he also hides a bit of insanity.

As for Zira, I like her, but she's more raw force and insanity than planning.

I choose Scar, hands down.

I'd have to go with Scar over Zira. All though Scar was controlled by jealousy and Zira hate/revenge, she still never actually killed anyone. She was just insane.

Scar on the other hand was willing to kill his own brother to get what he wanted. (Again, Zira probably would have killed her daughter... but she didn't). The fact that Scar was able to kill his own flesh and blood without a second though, then proceed to try and have his nephew killed is definitely dark. Then he goes and lies/manipulates the pride into following him. And when faced with moving on to find food or death, he would have condemned the whole pride to death.

Zira is definetly the better villianess! She was just psycho and crazy and I loved it. I can't believe Disney cut the scene where Kiara says "I'll help you"... As Zira dnagles from the cliff for dear life and in the creepiest voice ever she says, "No...Never"... and let's go. It was suicidal in an interesting way. Zira woud never give up her threat as long as she lived. It was always for Scar...

Scar all the way. He had the dark and gloomy features of a villian and a reason as well. He was very unsocial and rarely tolerated anyone in his pride so he almost had a hatred for everyone. He was so striken with greed and envy that he was able to create such an elaberate plan to kill his own brother and his only nephew with the help of a few scummy scavengers that would do his dirty work (the hyenas). He was so twisted and he drove the PrideLands into a dark, dried out wasteland which he seemed to enjoy, after all he did like to spend more of his time in the spooky elephant graveyard where noone else dared to go. He became a horrible dictator and sent his fellow pride members to suffer under his rule. He just seemed to be a troublemaker from the begining. Plus, let's not all forget that wonderful, evil British accent that he had. I think that just makes it complete.
Zira was very mad like Scar but didn't really have the same issue as him. All Zira wanted to do was avenge her husband and live back in the wonderful Pridelands, but she soon became too determined and ended up going a bit insane in the process of her plots. The worst she did was neglect two of her children and brainwash the other one into being a killing machine. Which may sound frightening, but totally not as bad as Scar. Though Zira wanted to kill one person she never could, Scar was ten times weaker than the average lion and he destroyed an entire kingdom.

Zira was just mad, Scar was a true villian.
