I'm sure most of you think that the PAL DVD version is the best version of Balto. But it's not true, in fact the Laserdisc version of Balto is more accurate to the original version shown in theaters! Thanks to Timduru who has got the LD version, we have found that this version shows more things : compare these screenshots.

You'll see that the bottom (and a little of the top) in the DVD version is cut compared to the LD one! (The pictures of the LD version misses a bit of the left, however it's not relative to the LD itself but to his projector)
According to him, there are also some zooming in and out that are not in the LD version,. We now know that the DVD Pal version, even in 16/9, is far from perfect too.

AC has it and I think he may have a little info about it on his site. But I'm not sure. I saw one up for action on ebay a little while ago, but since I've never owned a LD player I saw no point bidding on something I'll never use.

I'm very interested in getting one; I have a laserdisc player that I bought just to view the Lion King laserdiscs.

Yes...notice when I posted this topic. No one answered at that time. Tim probably removed the pics since then.
But, you would notice that there is a little of the bottom that can't be seen on any DVD or VHS of Balto. So, it's easy to say that the laserdisc is the best version of Balto, followed by the widescreen non-US dvd.

No! You confuse with the mini discs from Sony. Laserdiscs are, on the contrary, very large discs, the same as the 33 rpm used for musics in the 70'-80's. Quote: That's a kool find. So am i right in saying that LD is a better version thene DVD? It depends on the film, whether the DVD is a very good quality one or not. Because the PAL version is widescreen, and the US one isn't.
