To the mods: I looked for a topic about this film and couldn't find one, but I do appologise if there already is a topic about this and I ask you do not delete this topic as I will edit this and talk about a different movie. Though, I am sure there isn't one because I couldn't find one in the Films/Series section.

Now, to talk about this movie. NeverEnding story is a movie about a young and imaginative young boy named Bastian who hides in an old book store after being chased by three bullies from his school. There he meets the shopkeeper Mr. Koreander and finds out about a book called The NeverEnding Story. Mr. Koreander tells Bastian that the book is like none other, and that it is not safe to read. Curiosity gets the better of Bastian and he takes The NeverEnding Story while the shopkeeper is busy on the phone. He takes the book to his school and realises he is late for his Maths Test, and so he hides in his school attic and reads The NeverEnding Story. Bastian soon finds out that the book is indeed like none other, and his imagination takes him on an adventure as the character Atreyu. The lands of Fantasia are being claimed by The Nothing, and only Bastian can save the world by giving the Child-Like Emporess a name.

I really enjoyed this movie, and I recommend it for people who love fantasy/adventure movies. A lot of kids would be able to relate to the main character, Bastian. He is imaginative, different, quiet and gentle and has trouble fitting in. That is why I think a lot of young children would like this movie and maybe even a few older people. If you have seen it, what did you think of it?

Yeah, I still love this movie. My favourite character would have to be Falkor the Luckdragon. And um..You sorta spelt Auryn wrong ^^" hehe. I also liked Gmork (That dark wolf character you mentioned) ..I mean, the movie did kinda need a villain. Even though The Nothing is supposed to be like a villain..It sorta doesn't seem like it.

I also liked the sequels, especially NeverEnding Story 3.

It was thoroughly enjoyable, but the one scene that makes me sad is,when Artax sinks into the swamp. :(

Yeah, that scene was really sad. When Atreyu and Bastian were crying I felt like crying too.

Mhm, because when Bastian is allowed as many wishes as he wants to make the new Fantasia he restores everything and everyone.

There supossed to make another to which I hope they go threw with it especially with today's special effects and CGI it would be epic^^

I loved the original Neverending Story. It was just so well thought up and made. I remember that when I was a kid I was scared of the Gmork. And I always cried when Artax sank into the swamp.
But it all ended well and this movie has become one of my favourites :)

I was not crazy about the 2nd one and I haven't seen the 3rd one. So I have nothing to say about them :)

I haven't seen the sequels. Someone tell me; are they worth watching?

Either way, I liked the 1st, bad special effects or not. The story line was enjoyable, and I thought it was a really cool concept. (Bastian actually being a part of the story, instead of just a reader.)

@ Windancer: The second one is probably worth seeing if you enjoyed the first. Although it is not as old as the first and has a little bit more special effect it is still a good movie to watch. But I would recommend the third one better than the second. I just loved the third one, but they kinda made Falkor seem all silly and dopey. Oh well, it still made me laugh anyways and the third one has a good plot and a good cast (Jason James Richter (Free Willy), Jack Black (School of Rock) and Melody Kay (Camp Nowhere)).

If you want to know a bit about the second and third I can tell you:
