This RP takes place about a year after the events in Balto III, and a few months before Kodi and Family: Race For Life



Who would have thought it? Kodi and Katie have been mates and parents for a whole year now... One night, Katie goes to Nome to look for her mate, to find out he's been cheating her with Dusty! She's heartbroken and paves Kodi. The pups are devastated, hating to see their mother unhappy. However, that ends when Katie's old pack mate and best friend Shenkin returns to make his moves and make her his. Once Kodi sees them together, he realizes how much he misses Katie. Can Balto, Jenna, and the pups get them back together, or will Shenkin ruin it with his obsession? And will there be some help from above?

Katie shivered as she went inside the den. She couldn't believe how loud she screamed, and those marks she left on her mate's face... Or, rather, her ex-mate. Now, she had to face the frightened faces of her pups... "Sweethearts..." she said in a weak voice. "Me and Papa, this is serious, and it's not the sort of thing I can forgive. Papa won't be coming here anymore." she looked away, tears in her eyes. "But I won't stop you all from seeing him or Grandpa, or Grandma..."


Tai looked down, tears hitting the ground. She was sad, but for what had happened between her parents. Now, her Papa wouldn't come back here... Ever. She whimpered, rubbing her eyes.


Kai closed his eyes, looking angry. He was devastated. He wouldn't see his father anymore, and his mother was miserable... He supressed a pain filled growl.


Kodi winced, cleaning the blood from his cuts as he walked back into the boiler room. Katie had slashed him in the face really good. Shame filled him, but he straightened up. No. Forget her, he thought, walking into the boiler room. His blood pattered a little bit as he cleaned himself, so his fur wouldn't stain.

Cachen was sobbing, he hated this! Why did it have to happen this way? "Momma...will you be ok?" he asked, looking up at her with tears streaming down his face. He loved his momma...but he loved papa too...there had to be something that could be done.

Lena was much like her siblings. "Why papa do this?" she asked, angry. "I thought he love us."

Aniu sighed, she hated this as she watched from nearby. "Something has to be done..." she said. "I can't do much, love just isn't my thing...or Anabelle's...but I know someone that might be able to help." she said, vanishing into snow and ice.

Dusty gave a low growl to Kodi as he came in. "If you came here expecting sympathy, you're wrong Kodi!" she barked angrily. "You had a mate?! And pups?! And you still went out with me?!" she asked, furious.

Katie nodded, looking sad. She licked Cachen's tears away, crying herself. "Ifci can get on with my life, I'll be just fine. I'm just glad my babies are here." she looked at themcall, ears lowering. "I'm so sorry I have to put you through this, all of you. I'm sorry your father has to do this to you."


Tai shook her head, nuzzling against Lena. "I dunno... I wish he hadn't done it, Lena." she said, a little bitter. In truth she loved her Mama and Papa very much.

Kodi nodded, looking at Dusty. "I didn't. I know I deserve this, for not telling you at least. But I wasn't happy... It was suffocating, and I couldn't do it anymore. I love my children, but I..." he couldn't say it; did he really feel nothing for Katie?

"Momma...do you blame Dusty?" asked Cachen, not wanting her to. "It's not her fault...it sounds like she didn't know daddy had a mate and pups."

Lena nodded. "I...I know...but..." she said. "Something seems...wrong...I...I'm so confused..." she said, she was close to her father, of course she was hit hard.

"Oh, you weren't happy? You were suffocating?" asked Dusty. "Well what about your pups? What about your mate? Think they don't have feelings?" she asked. She then kicked him in the groin so hard it lifted him off the ground. "You make me sick Kodi...and you make me feel rotton for helpping you cheat on your mate!"

Aniu appeared before an ice temple far to the north, the temple of Sakak to be exact, where he lived with Belladonna. She knocked on the door with her paw and waited.

"Of course I don't blame her, sweetheart." Katie said, growling hard. "Its Kodiak I blame. That-that dog!" she said, trying not to be angry.

Kai shook his head, glancing at his sisters. "Don't be confused... He left because he doesn't care about us anymore."

Tai looked angry. "Don't say that! It's not our fault!"

Katie growled warningly at Kai. "Don't you dare talk like that! Young man, your father loves you..." she looked away, saddened. "It's me he doesn't love anymore..."

Kodi cried out, hitting the floor with a thud. He shook. "Again, I deserve it... I deserve however much you give to me... It won't change how I feel." he said, wincing as he tried to stand up straight.

Belladonna yawned, shaking herself as she got out of the feather bed she shared with Pakak. Throwing her leather on over her, she answered the door. She looked surprised, beginning to put her jacket on. "Oh, Aniu! It's you... What's up? Come in."

Cachen nuzzled his mother. "Momma...maybe dad just got a bit...confused..." he said. "I don't know...but it's...don't blame yourself momma...please..."

Lena nodded. "It just hurts so much, you know?"

OOC: Song starting. I imagine this being a bit fast paced.

"Oh, you think I want to be with you now?" asked Dusty. "Well you've got another thing coming, this isn't like some race we're running. You can't make a wrong turn, or you're going to crash and burn." she sung. "I used to think you were cool, boy was I being a fool. And don't be angry with me, its your fault don't you see?" she sung. "And don't say you weren't warned, they say there's no fury like a woman scored. Now you've got two girls mad at you, and no one left to help your through. Well now you're alone and free. You're were you wanted to be. No mate to tie you down, but no one to help you stay on the ground."

Aniu entered the palace. "Well I wish I could say things are good, but they're not," she explained, looking worried.

Sakak blinked. "What's the problem? I thought your family was doing well."

Katie nodded, taking all of her pups close to her. She snuggled them tnderly. "I know babies... I know. I'm just so sorry this has to hurt you." she said, starting to cry. Kai licked her cheek, concerned.

Kodi looked suprised. But he smiled slightly. "I deserve everything you've said and done. But that doesn't mean with you I never had fun. Even when I was tied down, it was you I wanted to be around. I don't why I was so sad and full of gloom, but it was with you my happiness bloomed. I should have told you, I know that already. But to start a life with you, I think I might be ready."

Belladonna looked concerned. "Whats wrong? I knew there was something up." she smirked. "It has to be big, since you haven't trusted me much." she said, chuckling.

Lena nodded, licking her mother's cheek. "Momma...was Dusty mad at Papa too?"

Dusty snarled. "You think I'll change my mind so fast? This is something that won't pass. You had pups, don't you forget, that they'll surely throw a fit!" she sung. "You hurt them you heartless dog, is your mind really in such a fog? Do you not see true, that this isn't all about you? I knew you were a staborn male, but this just makes me want to yell!" she sung. "You're all alone now, Kodi dear, oh father of the year! I know your pups are crying, their hearts may be dying. But do you care? Is that something you can bare? I've been there you know, I know your children's wows. It's not fair for them or her or me, and now alone you're going to be."

"My grandson Kodi...he went astray," said Aniu. "He ended up cheating on Katie and they broke up, the pups are hurting, so is Katie," she said. "I know they've still got love, it just needs rekendled before its too late."

Katie shook her head, before she shrugged lightly. "I don't know, when I saw then she looked surprised."

Kodi shook his head, looking angry. "I never said I would stop loving my children, in fact I can't. don't you see it wasn't them but my mate I couldn't stand?! Why is eveyobe assuming this about me? That my mind is fogged, and I can't see? I left her not them, abd she wouldn't begrudge them their family... I can still be a dad, I'm not gonna flee! I'm owning up to my responsibilities, but for you did I want to be free!"

Belladonna looked shocked. "No... Not him! The looked so very much in love. Poor things, those little ones must be heartbroken. But- what do you need us to do?"

"Momma...I just want our family to be happy again," said Cachen, miserible."

"You're even worse than I thought, can't you see what you've rought?" sung Dusty. "Let me tell you something you didn't know, I know how it feels to see your father go. My parents split up the same way, I remember too well that day! I know just how you've made your pups feel, the children always get the worst of the deal." she sung. "Don't you see true that this isn't all about you? Your mate is suffering because of this, and do you think your pups are at bliss? Seeing their mother come home crying, telling them their papa was cheating? You've broken more than her heart today, you've put your pup's hearts in harms way," she sung. "You didn't stop to think it out, that this would make your pups pout. All you cared about was yourself, you selfish little welp! I don't want a thing to do with you, so now leave me alone you little shrew!" she said, snapping at him to try and get her point across.

"The pups want to set things right," explained Aniu. "Could you help them? And there's a male coming who wants to take advantage of Katie's plight, he needs to be delt with...and I also want you to give my grandson a hard time, make it seem like there's a dark cloud over his head. I don't want him off scot-free, he needs to pay a bit."

Sakak nodded. "We'd be glad to help, we do own your family one," he said. "That and I agree, Kodi needs a bit of karma retribution for it."

Katie giggled lightly, nuzzling her pups. "We can be jus as happy as before. How'd you like to go see Grandpa at his boat? It's still early in the day."

Kodi stepped back, shaking his head in shock at her words. "Okay, Dusty okay...I see your way. I'll leave you alone for today. I'm sorry you think I'm acting selfishly, but it's not over with my children, definitely. I'm free of a mate now, and I'll tell my kids so. But from my mind your face will never go." he saidd, backing up and out of the boiler room.

Belladonna nodded, stretching again. "Alright. I'll be mor than happy to help. There's a certain dog that needs a punishment."

Cachen nodded. "That'd make me feel better, momma..."

Lena nodded. "Momma...think grandpa is mad at papa too?"

Dusty sighed and looked down. "This is...what have I done?" she asked, having a hard time believing she'd had a hand in the very thing her father had done to her and her mother."

Fang was laying outside. He was disipointed in Kodi, VERY disappointed in him. And angry, Katie was his sister practically, he was furious with Kodi.

Sakak nodded. "Yep," he said. "So pretty much, give Kodi some bad luck?"

"That's the idea," said Aniu.

"Ok, how bad?" asked Sakak.

"Bad enough to make him feel miserible as Katie and realize how good he had it before he threw it way," said Aniu. "I love Kodi, but commiting adultery is one of the ten commendments, it can't go unpunished."

Katie put her bandana on slowly, covering her stripe up. "I knew it would." she said, looking at Lena. "I would think so. But I'm not gonna judge." she grinned, gromming herself. "Im gonna make him sorry about throwing me away..." she murmured evilly. "Lets go babies."

Kodi glanced at Fang, the shook his head. "don't give me that look, Fang" he murmured, almost pleading almost.

Belladonna chuckled, a little evilly. "Oh yes... I think our lives got a little more interesting, Pakak." she said, spreading her wings as they creaked.
