I am in need of some herding dogs for a fic. The fic is a sequel to Add A Lil' Sugar , and is mostly about my two characters, Brier and Sugarcube.

What happens is, Brier and a few of the other dogs on the ranch fall ill (not seriously, but enough that they can't, or shouldn't, work), leaving the ranch short on herders. Sugar, being one of the dogs still healthy, can't handle the herd by herself, so the Mcaslin's decide to rent, or borrow, some dogs from fellow ranchers. Now, the Mcaslin dogs are used to Sugar's odd quirks and have learned to work around/with them. These new dogs? Welll....not so much.

What I need are about four or five dogs to be the rented/borrowed ones.

Breed: Aussie (Blue Merle)

Siblings: He has two brothers and a sister
Personality: He's very quick witted and reacts quickly to tight predicaments. He's a natural leader and has the habit of taking lead without noticing. He's dedicated to his job and wants to be the best he can be. He likes things to stay on a schedule and likes for work to go by smoothly with the least amount of trouble possible. He's friendly to other dogs, but he's very work-dedicated and during work hours Lash doesn't like to have small talk. But, when work is done, he's all play and loves a good conversation.
History: He and his siblings were bought by a couple that simply loved Aussies. The couple, the Kendells, owned a ranch, and though small, it was still big enough for the Aussies to run around. Lash and his brother Reck work with herding, their sister Jesi was trained for show, and their smallest brother Knight was trained for obedience. So the siblings all work to their specific job and always make time for each other. Out of the four, Lash was always the hardest worker, picking up the slack that Reck left. Lash was always the mature one, he kept the group in line and always alert and together. He's protective, as he feels a leader should be. He grew up with his siblings and still remains at the same ranch with them and their loving humans.
What They Think Of Sugar: He was perplexed the first time he saw her. He thought something was wrong with her and thought she needed some kind of help. When he learned that was a normal for her, he relaxed a bit. He can see she's a nice girl, and doesn't mind her company, seeing as she's so sweet, but her actions still confuse him every now and then.

Personality: Tristin is more of a sporty guy. He's ajock and into racing and can be kinda snobby. He is very flirty and a bit of a showoff. He can be aggressive and likes to taunt others. He makes fun of his brother Caine alot and they fight alot. Tristin wants to be a racing dog, but his breed isnt allowed in the big competitions. He only did rookie racing.
Tristin found himself not so much of a racer. He got bored with the competition fast. He was a great runner though and so athletic. his eye sight is very direct, and he has much ability when it comes to bending [flexibility]. He started showing interest with herding animals not soon after quitting racing. Getting rid of the sporty lifestyle changed him a bit. He became more welcoming and kind to new dogs. He tried herding cats as a practice of interest. Trying to see if it is something he could really do.
History: ristin was adopted by a small family after his father left and his mother had to give him away. They noticed his speed and agility as he grew. Their daughter, Eliza, started showing Tristin and competing him in agility contests. He is a champion at agility. He later started racing which was soon quit due to his breed and his loss of interest. this is where his farm interest begins.
What They Think Of Sugar: Tristin has always been a flirt, but around Sugar he doesn't feel the urge to. This is a new "territory"; a new interest. And he honestly feels stupid around her for being unexperienced.

Gender: Male

Breed: Red heeler Austrailian cattle dog

Siblings: unknown at the moment

Personality: He is very serious about his job, he knows how to herd, and was raised for it. he had it in his blood, so Daamon loves doing his job. he loves singing while working, and he has an amazing voice, and it helps calm the sheep. he is straight forward and knows when he's supposed to work. he is very intellegent, and knows exactly how to herd the sheep and protect them.

History: Daamon was born on a breeding farm, for Aussies and was expectd so much of him when he was only small. he was sold and resold over and over again, for he was valuable. he didn't like how mutts were treated by purebreds. he always stood up for his mutt friends. he had his tail clipped by his first owner, a cruel one, who let wolves in the gate by leaving it open all night. Daamon ran away from that man, and found Sugar. He followed her back to her farm and her owner accepted him. While training, he found out that singing was his passion. he always sang to himself, never outloud, so the others wouldn't laugh at him.

What They Think Of Sugar: he is super happy he found her, and loves her like a sister, though as many siblings do, they argue sometimes. he beleives that she is one of the best herders, but can get a little out of whack sometimes.

Name: Pavii Lukas Thomason (just called Pavii or another nickname) (Pah-vEE)


Gender: Male


Age: around 3 ¼


Breed: Lapponian Herder


Parents: Unknown


Siblings: Unknown


Personality: Pavii is a quiet boy, usually keeping to himself or small-talking with others. He acts tough and brave around those he wants to impress or his friends, but deep inside, he’s just a scared little pup looking for friends. His personality is really messed up, he can switch between being really snappy or just being “talkative”. Pavii is the one to use his brain, wits, and intellect rather than act on rash impulse. He overreacts to certain things, and he likes to tease (lightly flirt) girls, as they seem to react “positively” to it. He tends to think that he isn’t a regular dog, but he has a soft spot for pups. They seem to catch his attention… especially the stray pups.


History: As a child, he was a relatively happy pup. He was born to a prized sled dog and a somewhat famous herding dog. After he grew a few months, his father left for a racing competition. Pavii patiently waited for his father’s return, but when his father returned, he seemed… changed. His father, apparently angry at something, attacked Pavii, taking his anger out on his own pup. The pup was too afraid to fight back or to go for help, so he took the beating, hoping that it would soon go away. During those months, his father had never calmed down, beating Pavii even worse than the day before. One day, the father went as far as to kill one of his own pups, and Pavii and his siblings were terrified of their father. Pavii, not wanting to stay near his father any longer, ran away from his home, running and running until his legs could carry him no further. He collapsed in the snow. He knew right there, He was going to die. As his vision blurred and started to go black, the sound of dogs barking and men yelling something in a somewhat foreign tongue filled his ears. He fainted. The next time he woke up, he was lying near a nice and warm fire. Who had rescued him? A man came in with a dog next to him, the dog sitting next to Pavii and asking him a question in a tongue he did not know. The man, smiling, patted Pavii’s head and left. The other dog, curious as to where this dog was from, asked him a question in Finnish, the one tongue Pavii knew. Pavii conversed with the dog until the night, and after a few days, he was taken with the man to country named “America”. Pavii seemed to like the country, as it was sort of nice and pleasant to be in. He was taken to a small farm with some young reindeer in an open field. Pavii had a collar with silver bells placed around his neck, and then was released from the man. He acted on impulse and started to herd the reindeer into the farmhouse along with the help of some of the other dogs the man brought with him. Later, he adopted a young stray pup as his apprentice-in-training. He taught the pup how to easily herd the reindeer, but it didn’t seem that the pup was very fit for it. So, he decided to have the pup watch Pavii closely to learn.


What They Think Of Sugar: Pavii finds it cute when Sugar speaks goat, but he likes that she’s quiet. He tends to hang around her often, finding her little odd quirks very fun to watch. He feels strongly for her, as she’s still young. Pavii is only protective over younglings because of his childhood. He finds her company pleasant and enjoyable.

Name: Whip

Gender: Female

Age: 2-ish

Breed:Australian Cattle dog/ Husky/ Collie/ Australian Sheppard

Parents: Colette and Kangee

Siblings: Zip, Gyp, Kipp, Tripp and Pip

Personality:Whip is a very cynical girl, she’s loves tricking others. She uses her brothers in her plans. She knows how to get her way in almost everything. Whip is Collette’s little girl and will come crying to her mother went something doesn’t go her way. Whip is always the one to carry out her brother’s plan and never knows when to quit. Although she isn’t all bad, she has a soft spot for familys and wants one of her own. She would never hurt anyone younger or smaller than she is but oddly finds the big softies to tease and pick on.

History:Whip’s owner was surprised to find 6 pups at the belly of his only dog. After assuming he father of the pups was some stray dog, he kept the pups hoping they would be hunting dogs, unlike their mother. Whip, being the only girl, was labelled to be delicate and was kept as a pet like her mother, while most of her brothers trained with their owner.

When their owner decided to buy some farm animals, to get more then what he had hunted, that’s where Whip shined, and was kept as the herder.

What They Think Of Sugar: Whip tends to avoid other females, excluding Topeko, because she would rather the company of males, so she thinks little of Sugar the most would be "Oh another dog, seems a little off..." Whip usually also works alone, so she isn't use to the young girls company.



Name: Topeko

Gender: Female

Age: Almost 2

Breed: Border collie/ husky/ Aussie/ wolf/ St. Bernard/ Akbash/ Anatolian Sheppard

Parents: Rizzo and Parker

Siblings: 1st litter: Fran and Gibbs (and her)

2nd litter:Ashlee, Mary-Kate and Ajay.

Personality: Stubborn and hard headed. Topeko is hardly the one you want to get in an argument with, she will always win, even if she is wrong. She is anything but shy, and is hard to find in a submissive state. Topeko isn’t the best dealt with humans, and really doesn’t like her owner much (not afraid to give him a little nip if he acts out of line ;D). This mix is very independent (unless in a group of dogs, then she might be the glue that holds them together) and likes to be alone most of the time.

Peko is acts like a pup all the time, when she is with friends she is goofy and wants to play all the time. From husky heritage, she has a high run drive, and will run and run if there isn’t a leash, dog, human to stop her. As she grows, she does settle down, becomes quite calm and collective. She leans more towards her mother then her father, as well as Colette then Kangee


History: Topeko had grown up in her mother’s house, she loved the freedom of being able to leave with her mother to meet their father.

Once she adopted, she was surprised to find so many other dogs there! They were all young, but mainly her age. Their mother, was what Topeko took as abuse, and she wanted out as soon as she could! Over and over, the pup tried to leave, getting over the fences, under the fences, but to no prevail. She decided to give up and find out what had happened.

She found the mother, Colette (GASP... You could guess, eh? xD) had, had several accidents that had caused her the injuries. The other dogs she lived with where all siblings, and Colette’s sons, and daughter; Tripp, Gyp, Pip, Kipp, Zip, and Whip. Although, Topeko spent most of her time with Colette. She found out she was adopted to continue the line of hunting dogs the owner had created, to sell this time. Being he only had one male unfixed, he made them stay together most of the time.

Topeko loved Pip, he was fun to be with, but she was mainly curious about his brother, Tripp. He was so quiet, and mysterious to her. She started to get closer to him, until they started to date (having a deal with his brother he would only get her, if the owner made them. X3). Tripp brought Tope back into town, for their ‘dates’ and to see her family, and thats were she met Kaitlyn-Ann, who seemed to be her new best friend (besides Whip.) Little did she know, Kait was spreading rumours around her around town, while Tope was trying to get Kaitlyn a man, as she was happy with Tripp.

Tripp and Topeko become mates not long after they started dating, being young, surprisingly their relationship worked out very well.


What They Think Of Sugar: Topeko finds her a bit funny, and her fainting even funnier. She likes the little aussie, and tends to stick around her when she sees her by herself. Topeko is a un experienced herder, so finds a bit of comfert in Sugar, knowing she wasn't a herder most of her live. (Yes, I know Topeko IS a hunting dog, but she has been trained to herd with Whip seeing as their owner has more hunting dogs then anything.)

Okay, I was trying to decide between Galileo, Trigg, Ridge and Pilot for the second herder (betchya never saw the first one coming XD) but I made a decision! I can change the second entry if you think one of the others would fit into the story better^^

(1) Name: Nimbin

Gender: Male

Age: born in 1929

Breed: ??? - mutt

Parents: ??? x Joe

Siblings: Brier, Jeremie and 3 others

Personality: Feisty, very energetic and spunky. He really only listens to his owners and adoptive parents, but no one else. He
wants to be just like Ridge so he often is pretty aggressive and gets into fights easily... he's also sort of paranoid like Ridge is. When he gets older, he calms down a bit and becomes a bit more mild and even tempered, but he still desperately wants to be like Ridge.

History:After his mother was found half dead along with his other siblings, Nimbin was taken to the pound and adopted by a man who needed a travel companion. The man named him McKay and was originally from Australia. He owned his own small plane and constantly flew back and forth from Australia to other places. Unfortunately, when McKay (Nimbin) and his owner stopped back in Alaska, the pup became lost and wandered into the hands of a man who owned a testing lab. But before any harm was done, a dog named Ridge broke the pup out. Nimbin ran away and joined up with a group of strays that didn't care much for him, but he was accepted anyway.

After a year on the streets, the young dog is re-found by Loki and Ridge, who rescue him from the streets and bring him back to the farm with Trigg, Galileo and Pilot. There, he learns to herd cattle with the others who adopt him into their little family. He later becomes best friends with his neighbor, Saphrina and a lone wolf, Solo.

What They Think Of Sugar: He's pretty easy-going and level headed in odd situations but when he first meets her, he's fairly shocked at how she acts and kind of mystified. He warms up to her eventually and although he tries to act calm and patient around her, he tends to be a bit awkward around her and looses his patience when they can't communicate.

(2) Name: Galileo

Gender: Male

Age: born 1926

Breed: Border Collie

Parents: ??? x ???

Siblings: has them but they're unknown

Personality: Smart, quick-thinking, not judgemental, pretty calm for his breed, level-headed, has energy but isn't overly energetic, fairly kind, learns fast, sometimes skeptical and very very loyal. The only reason he isn't extremely hyper is that Ridge usually has him focused on something. Without Ridge, Trigg or Pilot, he'd just be another sctter-brained border collie.

History: Galileo was born on a small breeding farm with a few different litters of border collies. He was built very sleek and thin like his mother, but he's also tall for his breed and was his owner/ breeder's favorite pup. He was kept by the breeders for a while, living happily with his parents and other dogs that his breeders had decided to keep. However, it didn't last and eventually, Galileo's owners had to sell some dogs since they had too many. Galileo was sold quickly but never got to know his second owner: he was moved far north and sold for even more to people who worked at an animal experimentation lab. There, he meets Ridge, who wants to destroy the lab. Galileo is pretty skeptical, but becomes fast friends with Ridge, Trigg and Pilot and is usually the brains of Ridge's plans.

When the dogs finally escape, they are taken in by a shelter and all are brought to a farm in the middle of nowhere where they learn to herd cattle. A dog named Loki is already there and later on, Nimbin also is brought to the farm to herd. He also becomes pretty good friends with the neighbor's dog, Saphrina.

What They Think Of Sugar: He's absolutely mystified. He's not judgmental at all so he gets along very well with her and gets used to her right off the bat. However, being the smart, scientific thinker he is, he can't stop trying to study Sugar and try to figure out why she acts the way she is.

I wanted to join with a char that is part collie but also part husky and labrador =/ can I enter him or it's better not?

As long as he has some herding breed in him, he'll be fine.

Siblings: Derrek (brother (c)Lone), Milikia (sister (c)Lone), Silver (sister (c)???), Whit (brother (c)???) and Xan (brother (c)???)
Personality: looks like he doesn't care for anyone exept him, all he want to do is working, working and working, even if his job isn't exately the best for a dog but he survives; he may seem very rude outside but he is protective and understanding with who can get his simpathy, is quite musculous and tall, enjoys the silence; will get paranoid once becoming older, like if someone wants to kill him, probably because of too much fights.
History: born as an accident between two dogs that were put together. As halfbreeds, he and his siblings had to be eliminated and Zeke was sold. He arrived in the most dangerous place for a pup and he was immediatly caged. He asked around what was going to happen to him and he found out that he was in a fighting place, if he would survive there, he would have become a fighter and Zeke, or now, Caleb, as the men were calling him, understood that only the bigger and powerful ones survive there. Caled survived the first battle against a young mutt but he still has a ear torn and some neck scars to remind him his first "fight". The young dog grew up in that place, he had many admirers but never wasted time with them, since he knew that sooner or later they would all come under his fangs. After few years he had been there, two new faces arrived in the fighting place, both white dogs, both from Japan, father and daughter. The two were named Don and Rachel and Caleb was surprised to see them in a place like that, two purebreeds, one of them still a pup. Between Caleb and Don grew much rivalry, mostly because Don was just a showoff that had to thank his lucky if he had ever got out the fights without serious damages, the two never really got along and Caleb is the one that gave Don the scar on his face. Rachel was better than his father, she was so young that Caleb couldn't say anything bad, she wanted to survive too and the mutt decided to help her, since he recognized a lot of his puppyhood in her. Rachel could count a lot on her speed, she was fast and Caleb used this to teach her now to not be killed, thing that she learned fastly. Caleb noticed that Rachel, now a young gilr a year old, was attracted by him but he knew this was just a puppy crush and still helped her. Things weren't going very good in the fighting place and Caleb worried for Rachel, he made her go out of there and, even if against his feelings (of hate, of course) Don too. Once she got out and ran away, he had never seen her again. After few days, the place was surrounded by rangers and police and the dogs were momentanely brought to the pound. Caled had to move since someone decided to take care of him and his started his new job as a herder, tho he would have preferd to fighting.
What They Think Of Sugar: Caleb doesn't mind at her, he really doesn't realize how she can act like a beast such a caribou or goats, since at the fighting place, to entertain some clients, his owners made him and other dogs kill animals like goeats, rabbits and sheeps, so, he sees the animals he herds as potential food but doesn't eat them because his job is to protect them and seeing Sugar that acts like one of them, makes him really nervous and confused, he doesn't accept the fact that she thinks to be...food.

Dern, i didn't make it^^ Oh well, i'm gonna make his page anyways, though, because im not throwing away his design xD
