PLOT: To the second generation of the legendary Flock, their parents' tales of The School, the Recombinants and The Erasers were all fiction; all a facade to explain why their kids and themselves were born with varying mutations and powers, including wings.
After their parents (the original Flock) had passed away, the new generation of bird-kids had kept their house in the remote location in Colorado. Thinking they all had nothing to worry about, they had kept living on their normal lives...
Until their childhood fiction became factual. Dangerously factual.
MY CHARACTERS: Name: Lark Age: About 15 Gender: Male Child of: Iggy Race: White Hair Color: Same color has Iggy's (orangey) but has some darker and lighter peices. Eye Color: Bluish brown (kind of a dark hazel) Other Appearance Factors: He has a big red mark on the back of his hand, from when he burned himself cooking. Wing Design: About 12-13 foot wingspan, shade of gray that progresses into a darker gray around the edges of the wing itself. Other Mutations: He can solve complex and challenging scientifical/mathematical problems with ease, also can harden his skin in certain areas to avoid getting injured, and he can use his scientifical brain to confuse his enemies and almost temporarily scramble their brains. Personality: Witty and crafty, and knows how to get out of stuff. He inherited his father's love of causing trouble, but he tends to avoid personal fist fights whenever he can and avoid physical fighting, even though he knows he can't get hurt easily. He's sarcastic and complicated. He inherited his being complicated from his mom xD
Name: Pascal Age: About 8 Gender: Male Child of: Angel Hair Color: Light Brown/Dark Blonde (whichever tickles your pickle) Eye Color: Powdery blue (same as Angel's) Other Appearance Factors: His hair is kinda wavy Wing Design: About 10-11 foot wingspan. All white, like Angel's, but they look like someone splattered a bit of black and grey paint along the spine of the wing. Other Mutations: He can cause porcupine-like spikes to stick out and/or shoot out of his body at will, and they automatically do whenever he sneezes. He can also breathe underwater and influence people, like his mother, and he can also create fog. Random, but useful. He also has an impeccable sense of smell. Personality: He's quite the wannabe comedian, but the scary thing is that- no, not that he's not funny -that he's not afraid to end someone's life. He doesn't have much moral values, so doing bad things don't affect him or his conscience. He inherited that from Angel.
Windancer, your turn ^_^

Name: Rue Age: 15 Gender: Female Child of: Max/Fang Hair Color: The same shade as Fang's Eye Color: Chocolate Brown Other Appearance Factors: She has a few freckles, like Max. Wing Design: They look the same as her mom's. They have shiny, darker brown feathers on the outside, and ivory colored ones on the inside. They blend in with the feathers along the bottom, which are streaked white and black. Her wings also have random, freckle-y brown spots. Other Mutations: While she can't turn invisible, she does have warp drive, meaning she can fly uber-fast. She doesn't have a Voice either (thankfully), and she can almost sense when something bad is about to happen, whether it be a storm, or a bunch of wacko-scientists coming. Personality: Rue is leaderly and almost motherly when she wants to be, inherited from her mom. She is stubborn at times, and prideful, but she would never put anyone in her family in danger on purpose. She would willingly sacrifice herself for them.
Name: Kara Age: 13 Gender: Female Child of: Nudge Hair Color: Just a shade lighter than her mom's, making it look more brown than black. Eye Color: Blue (coincidentially similiar to Angel's...) Other Appearance Factors: Her skin is lighter, making it almost a caramel color Wing Design: The tawny feathers are darker on the outside than on the inside, but accent each other perfectly. Other Mutations: She can draw metal to her but from a greater distance than Nudge if she concentrates. Kara can keep up a steady flow of conversation for hours, even though some might not consider it a mutation. She can also output a bit of electricity if she wants to. Even though it doesn't electrocute, it certainly stings. Personality: Talkative and friendly, she's willing to follow others' lead. She will put out her own ideas, and isn't afraid to express her views. While tough enough to break bones without letting out a whimper of pain, she is gentle enough to be more motherly than Rue.
(Can we say Gazzy didn't have any kids? To keep the character amount even?)

Ooc:// Tell me how this sounds....
"Next time, we're sleeping someplace that isn't covered in rocks," Rue grumbled, wincing as she stood up. "Or, even better. In our beds."
"Lighten up, Rue. It wasn't that bad. It sorta made me feel like we were in one of Mom's stories, you know? On the run and everything," Kara said, her voice edged by sleep. The others weren't awake yet, but Rue was sure to change that soon. Personally, Kara was eager to get back to the house too. Camping was fun and all, but given the choice, she would prefer air conditioning and indoor plumbing anyday.
"Let's just hope Erasers don't come after us," Rue joked, unfolding her wings slightly. She shook out a few random pebbles, and relaxed. That felt better already. Looking at Pascal and Lark, who were still asleep, she had to smile. Pascal's mouth was wide open, and Lark was snoring ever-so-slightly. "Wake up guys!" she called out loudly, adding a few nudges with her foot to make sure they would wake up. "It's morning, and I want Lark to make breakfast. I'm starving."

Pascal rolled over frustratedly, keeping his eyes clenched shut. He grabbed his white, gray-speckled wing and pulled it over his head like a blanket. He didn't inherit his mother's gift of waking up early at all, to everyone else's dismay of having to get him up. Small tufts of wavy, light brown hair stuck out from beneath the feathers.
At the moment Rue spoke, however, Lark was already awake. He rubbed his dark hazel eyes with the sleeve of his thin jacket, also brushing the orange strands of hair out of his face. "Next time we camp," Lark announced, sounding not the least bit tired, "I'm sleeping in a tree." He unfurled his silver wings and sort of shook them, causing dead leaves and small pebbles to be shaken loose from in between the feathers. He kicked Pascal in the butt. "C'mon, get up." he said without sympathy. Then, when the small boy didn't wake up, Lark sighed, rolled his eyes, and leaned down to grab Pascal's ankles and lift him off the ground with ease. Each one of them did weigh less then 100 pounds, due to the "air sacs", "hollow bones" and "bird DNA" their parents had told them about.

Kara managed to stifle her giggle at the sight of Pascal, still groggy, dangling upside down.
"Just drop him, Lark. He can clean up camp and miss breakfast if he doesn't wake up," Rue said, a hint of amusement edging her words. She grinned, and stretched, her aching muscles protesting a little before relaxing. She walked outside, the brisk morning air helping to clear her head. She didn't enjoy waking up early either, especially after only a little sleep. But she did it anyways. Who else would act as a human alarm clock for the rest of them?

Lark sighed and dropped Pascal, and only upon hitting the ground did he wake up. "Ow!" Pascal squealed, rolling himself onto his stomach and rubbing the back of his neck. "Watch-" he began to say, but then froze and begin gasping, getting ready to sneeze. "He's gonna blow!" yelled Lark, backing away as quick as he could.
Suddenly, Pascal let it out. "ATCHOOO!" and hundreds of brown, needle-like porcupine spikes flew out of his pores, some of them staying stuck in his skin and some whizzing through the air.
Lark instantly braced himself and hardened his skin in the places he was about to get hit with needles. When a section of his skin hardened, it looked like flesh-colored scales had covered that area. One needle was heading for his face, but he swatted it away with his scaly wrist just in time.

Rue managed to duck, one of the sharp spines only grazing her arm, which was protecting her head. Sitting up, she examined the small scratch. It didn't hurt, it was more irritating than anything. "Seriously! Be careful Pascal!" she scolded, frowning at him.
Kara wasn't so lucky, and had around three of the spines lodged in her skin. She winced as she pulled them out. "Why can't you like, shoot out pillows or something when you sneeze? Those things are sharp!" She threw the spines on to the ground.

Pascal wiped his nose and snapped back, "Well excuse me for not being able to control my nasal refluxes!" He threw a sharp glance at Rue, his innocent, powder-blue eyes completely switching gears. He wiped his nose and sniffled again, grabbing Lark's arm and pulling himself up onto his feet.
Lark decided to change the subject of this situation, before everyone started freaking out on each other. He clapped his hands together and asked loudly, "Who's hungry?" before marching inside their cliffside mansion, a strained smile on his face.

Rue debated whether to ask him to help clean up camp or not. She sighed, deciding against it. "Start cooking once you get inside!" she called out after him. If he wasn't going to pack up, he was going to do something helpful.
"Can't I go with him, Rue?" Kara asked pleadingly.
"Sorry, kiddo," Rue said. "But the quicker we get this done, the quicker we can follow."
"Alright..." Kara said reluctantly. She walked to their small tent that they had bought a while ago. Sleeping on the ground or in trees got old after a while. The stars were pretty and all, but the mosquitoes were torture. She grabbed Pascal's hand, careful to avoid any remaining spikes. "Help me with the tent?" she asked.
Rue began picking up the trash remaining by the dying embers of their campfire. There were plenty plastic baggies and paper plates left over. She stuffed them all into a garbage bag she had brought. For good reason, she complained silently.

Without a word, Pascal walked over to the small tent and began to pull the pegs holding it down out of the ground. Sitting cross-legged with his snowy wings tucked in, he wiped the dirt off the pegs after he uprooted them. "Rue, Kara," he said quietly, not looking up from the mucky peg he was cleaning, "You know I don't mean to shoot spikes when I sneeze."
Ooc:// Would it be okay if Lark goes inside, starts to cook, but then there turns out to be an Eraser or whitecoat inside? Just to pick up the excitement a little bit?

Ooc:// Of course! (Make it a few Erasers. Whitecoats are too fragile...XDD)
----
Kara, who had been folding up the tent, emrged from behind the layers of fabric. She gave Pascal a quick hug, glad most of the spikes had fallen off by now. "I know," she said. To her, it sounded like he felt bad about it, and she smiled reassuringly at him.
"So do I," Rue said, looking up from what she was doing gratefully. Picking up their trash wasn't her favorite job. "Kara didn't mean to tear all the zippers of my jeans that one time either." She grinned.
Kara smiled at Rue sheepishly. "I was reaching for the bracelet I dropped. I just got too close to your pants." They shared a closet, and it had happened more than once. Though sometimes, it wasn't an accident.

Ooc:// Sorry for such a delay in replying and how it's sooo loong xDD But please read the whole thing!
Lark jogged over to the refridgerator inside their house, then searched around inside it for some eggs. Suddenly, as he was balancing three eggs in his hand, the sound something breaking and clattering onto the floo rechoed throughout the house made him freeze in his tracks. After the strange sound, everything was completely quiet. Lark lifted his head over the fridge door and saw no one around. He slowly shut the door, gently placing the eggs down on the counter next to the sink. "Hello?" he called, taking soft steps towards the doorways leading out of the kitchen. "Rue? Pascal?" he called again. "Kara?" It was completely quiet, as if no one was ever there, but Lark knew how to handle this. Judging by the angle the sound hit his ears at, and taking into consideration all the surfaces the sound could have echoed off of, he concluded the sound was coming from the living room, which was a bit down the hall.
When he reached the door to the living room, he stood with his back pressed against the wall, then gingerly turned the doorknob... and was met by the force of a freight train smashing into his face, sending him (quite literally) flying down the hallway and into the wall at the end of it. What on earth...? thought Lark, but wasn't able to finish his thought before a hairy, seven-foot-tall wolfman emerged from the living room. It flexed its huge, furry fingers and snorted, "Feels like punching a rubber chicken." Suddenly, the wolfman laughed and charged down the hall at Lark, eyes blazing with desire, probably to eat the kid. More of these wolfmen appeared, some looking like full wolves, some different colors, and all of them fierce predators. Lark's pale wings shot out, and he launched himself at the ceiling, staying just out of their reach. Just like in Dad's stories... he thought, sliding along the ceiling towards the exit. He ran into the walls a few times, and one wolfman actually managed to slice through Lark's shoulder with razor-sharp claws, and then licking it's fingers as Lark cried out in pain.
Pascal heard Lark's cries as clear as day, and without hesitation, he ran as fast as his legs could carry him towards the house... only to be met by five of the giant freaks. A black wolfman roared and lunged for the small boy, but Pascal unfurled his peppered wings flew out of their reach, like Lark did. A brown wolfman sneered, "You can't stay up there forever!" It snarled that just as another dark brown one leapt and clamped its fangs down on Pascal's ankle, making the boy scream and start punching the hunter in the face, desperate to get it off of him. The wolfman pulled Pascal from the ceiling, despite his frantic flapping. When he got the boy down, he grabbed his wings and slashed through the beautiful white feathers, leaving them dotted with red. "RUE!" he screamed. "KARA! ME AND LARK NEED HELP!"

Rue had heard Lark's cry too. And at Pascal's call for help, she felt her blood run cold. Whipping out her wings, she hurled herself into the air. A quick glance behind her let her know Kara was following. They were soon at the house, and Rue crashed through a window, the glass shattering into an impressive array of shards. A gasp and look of horror soon replaced the look of determination on Rue's face. The room was full of Erasers. But they had only been part of a story.
Not anymore, Rue thought grimly. Then she went into attack mode. The Eraser closest to her went down like a rock thanks to a strong punch in the stomach, followed by a kick to the head. "Lark, Pascal! Fight 'em!" she called out, knowing Kara would already be doing that. She wiped away the blood dripping from a cut on her forehead, trying to ignore the horror rising up in her. Because if the Erasers were real...so was the School.

Lark was already putting pressure on his slashed shoulder, so fighting while dealing with the pain was definitely not easy. Still on the ceiling, trying to avoid bloodshed as much as possible, he clenched his teeth and shot himself downwards at his attackers, feeling the face of one meet his knuckles. He hardened the skin on his fist, and punched it in the face again, causing it to K-O on impact. Good ol' iron fist. Lark thought. But this means... he blocked the thought out; the thought that if Erasers were real, their parents horror stories were all true.
Pascal spiraled downwards, his slashed wing not working as well as his good one. On his plummet downwards, he balled his fists together and slammed them down on an unexpecting Eraser's head, making it squeal in surprise, then spin around to try and grab the boy. Before it could get its bony claws on Pascal, he jumped out of the way just in time, then ducked and threw himself at the Eraser's stomach, shooting out his porcupine quills as he cannonballed into the Eraser's gut.
