So, Heya! I hope you like my fanfic.

Chapter 1: The Return of One.

Steele walked proudly into the town of Nome, Alaska. He and his owner had been off in Canada and the lower forty-eight (All the states except Alaska and Hawaii) going to- and winning- dog shows. But as he trotted along the street, he felt something was wrong. Where were the adoring fans? The girls who fainted at the very sound of his name? The pups who looked up at him for inspiration? Sure, the whole bunch of 'em had tossed him out after that dumb "wolf" saved all the people and that blah-de-blah, but they MUST have come to their senses by now..... Ah, but look! There was another dog down the street. Time to reintroduce himself to his fans.

Flashing his best smile and walking like a model on a runway, he walked up to the dog. It was a female, dark red with a white underbelly and face. Kind of like Jenna, but he didn't have time to think of that- it was game time, baby. He looked at the dog in a smug way, and said, "Hey, you, i'm Steele. I know this little town must have missed me; you know who I am, of course." The dog gave him a strange look, (Think this= 0_o" ) and said nervously, "Err, hi, Steele. I'm Rosy." Steele flashed a smug grin at Rosy, and said, "Do you know where Jenna is this time of day? I'd like to talk to her." He talked confidently, running his tongue across his teeth and stretching his front legs out in front of him. Rosy was still a little freaked out, but her ears perked up at the sound of the name "Jenna" she happily barked, "Oh, you want Jenna? Okay; I'll go get her. Be right back!" She turned around and ran towards one of the houses, barking a word that made Steele's jaw drop.

The word was, "Moooooooooom!"

Steele was still shocked when Jenna walked up, Rosy beside her. He couldn't even move! Jenna, a mother? She had never been interested in anyone, except..... Oh, goose. Steele tried his best to regain his composure. "Heeey, Jenna." he said weakly. "A mother? Who's the lucky dog?" He could get over it, he guessed- planty of bears in the forest- but he would never get over it if she said... "Oh, this is Rosy, me and Balto's..." He stopped listening after he heard Balto. Balto?! Balto?! BALTO?! He growled, turned on his heels and ran.

And he didn't stop at the edge of town. He didn't stop at the forest. He didn't stop at the mountains and cliffs. He didn't stop at all- He was so full of anger that he felt like he could run to the end of the earth and back. That poor, stupid girl! He had given her a chance for something better. He had given her a chance to be with HIM. The dog who had won races and dog shows, the dog who was a STAR. A SUPERDOG among dogs. A male among males. And she had chosen the wolf.

Poor, misguided Jenna. Poor HER.

All land comes to an end, however. After many hours of running, when thew sun was starting to set in the sky, he reached the end. The sea. He was not excited about it at all- He had seen it before, smelled its scents- but wait.... A strange one was upon him. He got low to the ground, and started to growl, for this was no ordinary smell. This was the scent of a wolf. And after a few seconds, the wolf came into veiw.

It was a large wolf, about the same size as Steele. He- dogs can tell the difference between a male and female dog's scent- Was dark, dark brown with a gray underbelly and face. His eyes were large and angry. And they were staring at him. "What do you want here?" The wolf growled. "What does it matter to you?" Steele snapped back. He wasn't taking anything from a low-bred WOLF. The wolf jumped down from the rock he was standing on. "I am Niiju, the last wolf of the Aningan pack, and this is my territory!" (I chose Aningan as the name because he was the moon god of the inuit.) Steele smirked and said confidently, "The rest of your pack abandon you, Mr. Overconfident? Maybe they did it because they were sick of hearing you yap!" At this, Niiju could take no more. He let out a mighty howl and leapt upon Steele, pinning him to the ground. But Steele was ready. As soon as Niiju was on him, he flipped Niiju over onto his back- with Steele on top. Then, Steele thought of a wonderful (EEEEVIL!) idea. He looked down at Niiju, and casually said, "So, has Balto ever been here?" Niiju's jaw dropped. He didn't know what to think, so he didn't. He just answered. "Balto has been here, but he didn't stay. His daughter, Aleu, did, however, and she is now the pack alpha."

Steele looked at Niiju carefully. "Where is the pack now?" Niiju turned towards the sea. "They are across the waters, in the place where the caribou stay the winter. Every time the ice bridge between here and there forms, they come back to visit- but they don't stay long. And they refuse to allow me to follow- though I would NEVER want to." he growled. Steele put his face a few inches from Niiju's, and said carefully, "When does this Ice Bridge form?" Niiju answered him. "It's there now; they should be here any minute." Then, they both hear howls. Steele puts his head up and Niiju's ears perk up. Steele steps off of Niiju slowly. "I have been deeply, DEEPLY USED by the alpha's mother. She wronged you by taking your pack away." He then looked at Niiju, a devious grin spreading across his face. "Revenge?" he asked simple. Niiju began to smiles and answered him just as simply. "Revenge."

Here's chapter 2!

Chapter 2: Two Take One.

Without another word, Steele and Niiju stalked closer to the commotion to watch. "About fifty wolves." Niiju said proudly, though if he'd stayed with the pack he'd have known the pack now numbered seventy-seven with two litters of pups on the way. The pack was having a great time- adults and pups alike playing and enjoying the sunshine, exploring and reminescing about their old home. The pair talked hurriedly about what to do. Niiju had wanted to attack Aleu outright, but Steele argued that that would be suicide. They argued and argued, until finally they came to a conclusion.

They would kidnap Aleu.

Aleu was having a wonderful time. Right now, she was talking with Luka, her best friend in the pack so far. Luka was the red wolf that had first stood up for her and her father when they had first arrived. They had quickly become fast friends- though she got teased a lot for being such good friends with a guy. "So, Luka.... Do you think I'm doing a good job as alpha?" she asked carefully. She turned her head to look at a sandy-colored she-wolf. "Lusa doesn't seem to think so." Luka gave her a playful, supportive push and said, "Lusa's just jealous. You know she wanted to be alpha badly; she's just mad Nava chose you instead. Besides, almost everyone else approves of you; Flora the lead healer, Tutok the lead warrior, Sitka the the lead hunter, and even Starr, the lead pupsitter! All the important wolves respect you and look up to you; Why should you worry about Lusa and her posse?" Aleu looks back at Lusa, then at Luka. "Well, I guess so, but I just don't know..." But then without warning, luka splashes her with some ice-cold water. "HEY!" Aleu howls. Luka laughs and starts to run off. Aleu growls playfully, saying, "Get back here you silly flea-bag!" she starts to chase him, laughing gleefully. Little did she know that this was a huge mistake.

Niiju and Steele watched as Aleu came closer and closer to where they were hiding. "Just a little closer..." Steele whispered to himself. Niiju stood and tensed his muscles, ready to spring at Aleu when she came close enough. Finally, she was within three feet of them. Steele nodded, and they sprang at her. Aleu tried to scream, but Steele slammed his paw over her muzzle. She struggled as hard as she could to get free, but it was no use. They were somehow able to drag her off into a nearby cave. Niiju looked at Steele, and Steele nodded. Niiju hit the back of Aleu's head against a rock. Everything went white for a second, and then complete blackness.

The next day, Aleu felt the sun hitting her face. She slowly opened her eyes. Everything was hazy, and her head hurt. Where was she? She tried to get up, but didn't succeed. She felt dazed and sick- she needed to go outside, get some fresh air maybe.....Ugh..... She was only sick-feeling and dazed then, but when she looked up, her stomach AND jaw dropped to the floor.

Niiju. AND Steele. Both in front of her. And they DID NOT look happy.

With a flash of strength and determination, Aleu shakily got up. She growled, partly in anger, partly in pain, and said, "What do you want with me?" Niiju started to speak, but Steele pushed him aside, and said, "Revenge. We need you to come with us. If you don't, you get killed. Simple enough for you, mutt?" He stared at her hard, anger in his eyes. Aleu felt like his stare was boring two holes into her face where he was looking at her. She wanted to fight. She wanted to run. She wanted to get back to the ice bridge in time to cross over with her pack. But as she thought the situation over in her head, she reluctantly realized that running or fighting would be suicide. She couldn't win with two against one. So, shoulders slumped in defeat, she nodded. "I'll go with you." she said quietly. Steele grinned triumphantly, then walked over to a corner in the cave to talk to Niiju for a minute. "I remember this cave," he said excitedly, "and it leads out to the other side. We'll take Aleu to Nome and get revenge on her father by forcing him to fight for her- we'll win, of course. And then we can do whatever we want with this little wench!" Niiju nodded, but he secretly had his own plans for afterwards. Steele then spoke up again. "Go hunting, will you? I'm starving. I'll stay behind and make sure she doesn't escape. Niiju nodded, more happily this time; he liked the prospect of a good hunt.

As soon as Niiju was out of the cave, Steele turned towards Aleu. Aleu was looking towards the back of the cave, and didn't see him. In fact, she was so lost in her own thoughts that she didn't notice him until he was leaning over her shoulder. She gasped as he growled, "It's time for you to pay for what your mother did to me!" Aleu tried to scramble away, buut Steele pushed her into a nearby tunnel with a yelp. Grinning evilly, he jumped in after her. He bit her, he scratched her, he threw her against the wall, and he did a number of equally- even sometimes more - horrible things to her, which I'd rather not describe.




So, that was the chapter! What will happen during their journey? Will Niiju get sick of Steele and stop his horrible plans? What did Steele do to Aleu in that tunnel?

All this and much more will later be revealed in The New Dawn:The Fourth Chapter!

Chapter 3: The Meeting.

Meanwhile, Rosy, the dog Steele had first met when he arrived home, was trotting happily down the snow-covered main street. She on her way to the boiler room; she was going to attend the meeting the dogs of Nome had there each thursday at noon. She loved the meetings! The trials, the stories, the speeches on how to improve your team's race time..... It was so exciting to her! She hurried a little faster so she wouldn't be late.

She slipped in just in time. She quickly found a seat next to Carlisle, her best friend. "Hey." Carlisle said casually. Rosy smiled and returned the greeting. Carlisle was so carefree and tough; she liked that about her. Carlisle had been Rosy's best friend since puphood. They were in their late teens (in dog years) now, and their friendship was still going strong. "Has the meeting started yet?" Rosy whispered. "Nah," Carlisle answered, "Baldor's just getting up to the podium. Baldor was the dogs' appointed leader; he was an old, wise saint bernard, the kind of guy you love and joke about. But Rosy was honestly surprised none of the younger dogs had challenged him for his position yet. Finally, Baldor cleared his throat. Dixie, the newsdog of the group, smelling of her owner's Passion Purple Perfume, leapt up beside him and barked, "Let the meeting begin!"

The meeting began with Baldor giving a short speech about "community togetherness" and "family values." After that, Sylvie, the aphgan hound who was best friends with Dixie, stepped up, ready to call the speakers and judges to come up. The first speaker was Kirby, urging the dogs to eat healthier so as to improve the sled team times. "Eat healthy, guys! Chow down on your kibble, and not your owner's fast food!" He said. After that was a speech by Balto, the sled team specialist, on how to improve your sled team's time. Then Dixie came up to inform everyone of her new help station. "Relationships, health, the newest styles in collars, ask me anything!" The one after was a trial- Rosy's favorite.

A pretty golden retriever-husky mix hopped up on the stand, crying softly. On the other side of the podium, and angry, growling dalmation leapt up. Baldor asked the golden dog to speak first. "My name is Coretta, and that dog killed my pups!" she cried. The crowd gasped. A murder?! This was getting interesting. The dalmation growled and quickly said, "Well, my name is Rosky, and I didn't either! Your pups all died at birth, Coretta! And we're over, finished! I'm sick of you, whining about pups; I didn't even want pups, and you went and had 'em, anyway!" Coretta cried and said, "It's not like I could stop them! And they were beautiful pups; Three girls and two boys, and all healthy! My only regret is that YOU were their father, you murderer, you!" At this point, Rosky could no longer stand it. "WELL, I DON'T CARE!!! I'M GLAD I KILLED THEM, THE STUPID CRITS! I'M GLAD I DID! I never loved you; I only wanted you for your owners; putting you in the lap of luxury, buying you all those beautiful things, the gourmet treats! I'M GLAD THEY'RE DEAD, AND I WON'T BE SATISFIED UNTIL YOU ARE, TOO!" With a growl, Rosky leapt at Coretta, hoping to get at her neck. But he never did. Toklo and Taqqiq, two german shepherds who were Nome's resident police dogs, had him before he even touched the ground. They looked at Baldor, and he nodded. They dragged him outside, and all the dogs coulf hear him barking....But then it stopped. Toklo and Taqqiq walked back in- alone.

"Death sentence." Carlisle grunted.

Soon after, the meeting ended. Dogs comforted Coretta as they waled by, and Carlisle and Rosy were no exception. Coretta was about their age, and that made them feel even more sorry for her. With tears in her eyes, Coretta looks at them and hoarsely whispers, "Don't make the same mistake I did. Please.....For your own sakes." Rosy pushed up against Coretta comfortingly. "Don't worry; we won't how about you come hang out with us behing the general store later?" Corettta happily nodded, and Rosy and Carlisle went on their way.



You might be wondering what that had to do with anything. Well, I won't tell you! >:D You'll see soon enough. Anyway, you'll see more of our villians next chapter, I promise!
